This unforgettable adventure follows a route that minimizes travel time and maximizes amazing time.
What to Expect
Get picked up at your hotel in Auckland or Rotorua, then board your bus for the trip to the Hobbiton Movie Set. En route, pass through a sprawling sheep farm with views of the Kaimai Ranges. Upon arrival, tour the Hobbiton Movie Set’s film sites and highlights, and learn how the Lord of the Rings set was created.

After a drink at Hobbiton’s Green Dragon Inn (included), continue to Te Puia in Rotorua. Dine in the Te Whakarewarewa Valley, then tour the simmering mud pools, springs, and geysers fed by Rotorua’s geothermal activity. The final stop is Waitomo Caves, whose native glowworms shine and sparkle over an underground river. See thousands of glowworms on a boat tour as you learn about the geological significance of the caves.

This tour concludes with hotel drop-off in Auckland or Rotorua.

Loved this place - great for kids and young at heart

Even if you don't know the stories - it is an amazing place to visit. Could have stayed longer if the tour permitted. Worth every cent. Would do again in a heartbeat.

Yeap. But there may be some physical bus transfers -- be sure to let them know of your plans when you get on the bus. Have fun, and hopefully you have good weather.

If you are with the same company, you should be ok, however this is tight due to the distances. Waitomo caves is a flash in the pan and is not worth the money. Was a great tour a few years ago but is nothing now. You... More
