Spend an afternoon visiting top natural attractions, including Black Sand Beach, in the Waitakere Ranges and the North Island’s rugged west coast on a tour from Auckland. Stop at the Arataki Visitor Centre for views that stretch from the Pacific Ocean to the Tasman Sea, and hear commentary from your guide about Maori history and New Zealand’s wildlife. This guided tour showcases the great outdoors just outside of Auckland.
What to Expect

Start with pickup from your Auckland hotel, then relax during the 30-minute drive to your first destination, the Arataki Visitor Centre, gateway to the Waitakere Ranges. Here, see traditional Maori carvings and get great photo ops of the rain forest, Tasman Sea, and Pacific Ocean. Then hear from your guide about the region’s history and ecosystem as you head to the North Island’s wild west coast. Enjoy time to walk along Black Sand Beach and check out its distinctive black sand.

Continue to a lush rain forest for a leisurely nature walk that passes giant tree ferns where a variety of birds live. Your guide points out native flora and fauna along the way. After five hours in the beautiful outdoors, your tour ends with hotel drop-off back in Auckland.

Wonderful way to spend half a day and getting out of Auckland City, Amazing to think this is so near by.

It really was a Wilderness Experience, a good number of about 14 in a small van which was very comfortable, tour guide was very knowledgeable, everything was spot on I could not fault it and would use this company again.

They do pick up at select hotels - it would be best to check with tour company to see which hotels are included and where the closest pick up point for you would be.
