- 105tamiec0 contributionsGreat tour!Fantastic tour. Kevin and Meiri were excellent guides. Kevin was a wealth of information sprinkled with lots of good humor. They set a great tone for the tour which encouraged a lot of friendly bantering amongst the participants. The places we visited were beautiful. We learned so much. Lunch was simple and delicious. We highly recommend this tour. It's the perfect way to visit the west coast of Auckland.Written 14 March 2025
- mcoe0560 contributionsReally wonderful day seeing Hobbiton and the Glow Worm Caves. We had a wonderful day. Wayne, our driver, was excellent and entertained us the entire day. Our was comfort stops in both directions, kept to the time schedule since our tours were scheduled and we even had an extra bonus of feeding an ostrich when we had a little extra time. The van was very comfortable with seats that were designed so everyone could see out the front window even if you were sitting in the back. I highly recommend this company as well as Wayne.Written 12 March 2025

- 726roberty0 contributionsAbsolutely Wonderful TourWonderful tour that included a stop at the Arataki Centre, with a guided walk in the rainforest, and a visit to the spectacular Piha Beach. Truly informative, led by personable and knowledgeable guides. Terrific views. Piha Beach is surely one of the world's most beautiful. Our guides, Alex and Mairi, were absolutely the best: fun, accommodating, and engaging. Highly recommended.Written 11 March 2025
- ki22bcd0 contributionsNice area, close to the centerNice area to visit, very close to the city center. The info provided by the guide was very insightful! Honey tasting is included!Written 10 March 2025
- 13marlonj290 contributionsTraveling Solo, But Felt Like FamilyMy trip with Bush and Beach felt like a family trip. Damian, our tour guide was outstanding. He picked me up right on time (6:45a), which impressed me. He made me feel like family by telling me all about what I was going to expect. He did a great job of introducing me to my fellow tour mates from Canada. Damian went above and beyond to share with us all things New Zealand: history, restaurants, geography, agriculture, and me; his stories alone were worth the price of admission. Although I went by myself, I never felt alone. Thank you Damian, you are a rockstar.Written 10 March 2025
- Fran-and-Pete0 contributionsAbsolutely beautiful "escape" to the rainforest and one of the loveliest beaches in NZ.This was a lovely small group tour, perfect for me as a solo traveller. A smooth pick-up from a central Auckland location was a great start, and our guide provided a knowledgeable commentary throughout the minibus journey as well as at each stop. We had a delightful walk through a short section of the rainforest and the Arataki Visitor Centre is beautifully laid out and well worth a visit... but the best was yet to come. Piha beach was simply beautiful! Our guide demonstrated the magic of iron sand with his magnet! but walking beside the turquoise sea, white surf and black sand was even more magical... followed by fruit juice and home-made cookies in the shade of little trees, listening to more local stories, before the journey back to the city. What a perfect day!Written 9 March 2025
- Global339036582450 contributionsFantastic Hobbiton day tripThe trip was great from start to finish, everything was prompt and on time leaving from Auckland and getting back exactly on time. Damien was our driver and was a pleasure to have. He gave great insight and details about Hobbiton and New Zealand that really added to the whole trip. Definitely would come back and do it again. 10/10Written 9 March 2025
- G360SLryant0 contributionsMagical tour!Such a great experience! It's hard to put into words how magical the Hobbiton movie set is, and our fabulous tour guide Damien was so full of anecdotes and interesting history about New Zealand that the approximately 2 hour drive was a breeze. The glow worm cave is also absolutely worth seeing, it is almost certainly unlike anything you have ever seen before! Overall I would absolutely recommend this tour, especially if you get Damien as your guide!Written 9 March 2025
- FarAway8238550 contributionsGreat Outing! This was an excellent tour, highlighted by Damien, a terrific guide, and an expert on all things New Zealand. I saw the first LOTR fan and liked it but admit I'm not the devotee others are. Still, Hobbiton was sprctacular, one of the best parts of the whole NZ trip. The glow worm caves were interesting, worth going to as an add in to Hobbiton, but probably not a destination unto itself. Be advised this is a long day, you go from 7am to 7pm, but it is well designed with stops for coffee in the morning and ice cream in the afternoon. The buffet lunch and the beer at the Green Dragon wre a great touch. Damien told us from the outset that we were in for a fantastic day and he was absolutely right. He also was spot on about Whittacker's chocolate, and I'm glad I took his advice and came home with a couple of bars. It is a frequent reminder of such a nice trip, and an exceptionally nice day.Written 9 March 2025
- SMSS_730 contributionsGreat tour.Great tour! Tour size (about 14 ppl) was good. Both guides (Pete and Noel) were very informative and friendly. The rainforest walking tour was really good. Piha beach was lovely: great scenery. Post-beach drinks and snacks was a nice treat. Would recommend! I don't think the tour would be appropriate for people using mobility devices as the rainforest and beach were not level surfaces.Written 9 March 2025
- hlwalsh20210 contributionsGreat tour to doOur guide Michelle was AMAZING So knowledgable and interesting stories Great local knowledge and lovely anecdotes Excellent bus driver Will recommend to friends Thank youWritten 5 March 2025
- L9247FUmarym0 contributionsWonderful afternoon!Meredith was a wonderful guide. Her knowledge of plant life and the local history was extensive. We enjoyed the beautiful views, the rainforest walk and our time on the beach, all well worth the price.Written 5 March 2025
- Barry S0 contributionsAsk for Damian. My wife and I know very little about Tolkien and the Hobbit yet we thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Hobbiton. The day was sunny and the temperature was pleasant. The photo opportunities were numerous. The Waitomo Glowworms were underwhelming but it was nice to see them on our way from Rotorua to Auckland. The highlight though was our guide and driver: DAMIAN. Damian is very knowledgeable, friendly, and outgoing. We learned so much from his narratives as he drove. Damian truly made us feel like family. He seems to really enjoy people and what he does. Thanks for a great day and being sure we arrived safely at our hotel in Auckland.Written 5 March 2025
- E4280KHjanec0 contributionsNot to be missedAbsolutely marvellous- what a day- excellent guide and driver Mairi and Murray. Both well knowledged and bou ced off each other like a marries couple( they aren't,t). W e had fabulous lunch- pick your own from local bakery- pies were excellent. Very good idea- removes risk of wasted food and cost if pre packed lunches done. Walks on Coastal paths not strenuous - views magnificent- struck lucky with weather. Lunch was on Piha beach with black volcanic sand. Ended day with hour long walk in rain forest with refreshments ( coffee and anzac biscuits)-oh and a taste of Manuka honey- very rich and creamy. An excellent day- gave us a different picture of NZ away from the big city of Auckland.Written 3 March 2025

Would definitely recommend this tour when you first arrive in Auckland to get your bearings around this wonderful city. Whether it’s the city, rainforest or beach, this tour gives you a taste of NZ. Wayne was our first driver and he had a wealth of knowledge on the history and culture of NZ. His dad jokes were hilarious. For the second half of the day, which covers the rainforest & Piha Beach, we had Annie and Dustin as our guide and driver. They were just as sweet, warm and knowledgeable. They were passionate about the flora and fauna. It was a great introductory tour.

Really well worth the money. Everything ran so smoothly and communication with the company before the tour was exceptional, making sure we were picked up at the most convenient location. The tour was conducted as 2, morning and afternoon, with 2 different tour guides ensuring we had the most knowledgeable guides for the different environments. The stops and the commentary were all scenic and interesting.

Fantastic tour! Our guide, Wayne, is very knowledgeable and quite entertaining - great sense of humor. The tour of Auckland hit a lot of the city's highlights and was great, but the best part of the tour was the rain forest walk. Wayne's knowledge of and reverence for he local flora and fauna was impressive. The walk through the rain forest was peaceful and soothing to my spirit. Walking Piha Beach and feeling its wild nature was amazing. I highly recommend this tour and this guide!

What a great tour company. Very on top of things with comfortable, clean vans and delightful and knowledgeable staff. They work well with one another staying in touch to advise of road conditions and weather issues. Came away with lots of knowledge and awe of this beautiful region. There was just the right blend of activity and riding.

Our guide in the morning was a middle-aged man who knew a lot about Auckland because he grew up there. He was a great tour guide, explaining history, architecture, and much more as we drove through the city. The stop for coffee by the beach was nice. The view of Auckland and the water from the top of Mt. Victoria was great.
In the afternoon, a second tour guide joined us. He took the lead in explaining the sites. He was good, but we liked the morning guide better.
The visit to the rainforest was good if you haven't been to any other rainforest, but there wasn't time for an indepth walk. We also stopped at a beach with black sand, something I'd never seen before.

We did the tour of Auckland in the morning and the beach and bush tour in the afternoon. Our guides were very experienced and fun to be with and very knowledgeable of the city and the surrounding areas. Vans carried about 10 to 15 people and were very comfortable, properly air-conditioned

I really enjoyed this day trip! I had been in Auckland for a few days prior so I had done a lot of walking around the CBD, but this trip covered more things in the city that I hadn't got to yet, including Mt Victoria, the mariner, Devonport and the North Shore. It was a lovely group of people and Murray was very knowledgable and fun! Then the second part of the day we were joined by Kevin, and it was beautiful to venture further out of town, learn about Maori culture and experience the rainforests. A lovely nice and easy walk through the rainforest where we saw some of the beautiful green pigeons. I think this tour is a great thing to do if you're wanting to see a bit more of town (and out of town, including the amazing Piha beach!) with a friendly and safe environment. If you like learning about architecture, flora and fauna, this this is for you :)

The morning was OK, a general overview Auckland but the afternoon is fantastic. The construction happening throughout the city right now is truly obnoxious. The guide did a good job explaining the history and sites and trying to avoid the worst of the construction but it’s truly unavoidable. Imagine how much roadwork would need to be done to install an entire subway line while people are living in that city. This is really two half day tours combined, consider just doing the afternoon, which finally gets out of the city and shows you all the things New Zealand is famous for. It’s just like we pictured, lush rainforest, exceptionally knowledgeable guide, and black sand beach. We 100% definitely recommend the afternoon tour.

Wayne was a great tour guide for both the Auckland city highlights tour and the beach & rainforest tour. We learned a lot while having a great time and getting some great pictures. Wayne has some very funny stories and kept the whole tour enjoyable!

My wife and I took a private tour. Our guide, Alex, was absolutely fabulous! He was informative, witty, courteous, and chock full of insight into the various sights we saw, the local terrain, flora and fauna. His recommendation for lunch (mean pies) hit the mark. Learned so much about Auckland and its surroundings. Highly recommend this tour. Alex was an engaging conversationalist who looked after all of our needs.
