    Wouldn’t do it again
The headphones on the hop On Hop Off were very bad (most of them didnt work and the ones that did were at a very low volume - i turn all up). It was a good transportation to use to the fair away attractions of the city, but if you’re looking for something more I wouldn’t go for it. I did like the mount Wellington/Kunanyn trip, although i would like to have had a little more time on the stop points on the way.

    Red Decker Tour Hobart
We only had a few days in Hobart and so we booked a 24 hr ticket where we hopped on the bus at our local stop and did the whole tour plus got back to our stop. We loved the tour and learnt a lot about Hobart. We could then catch it back up to our accommodation the next day after walking around Hobart as it was still within the 24 hrs. Only complaint was that the seats are quite hard and uncomfortable.

    Not what it advertises.
However we got on 2 stops after start point to stay on to complete loop as suggested and then get off cascade female factory. Then the bus stopped. No announcement from driver only to learn that it would be sitting here for 20 min. By the time it left and got to factory it would have just made it possibly but then would be stuck with paying for other arrangements to get home

Hop on Hop Off..Should never have "Hopped on"
Our experience of the "Hop on Hop off" was that it was very disappointing and a waste of money ! We arrived on a cruise ship and I guess we should have realised it would be busy....and yes it was. Buying the tickets was the easy part..$40 each. A long wait ensued for the bus because of the queue, we ended up on the bottom deck of the bus which we did not want, we could not wait any longer for another bus to come along as my wife has mobility issues. The bus did the tour of city highlights, which was difficult to see from the bottom deck, stopping for quite a while at the casino, the bus was old and belching out diesel fumes, why the driver had to keep it running I just dont know. We loved Hobart but next time we will be catching the local bus and enjoy the ride allot more.

Good way to see the sights of Hobart
A good way to orientate yourself and see some of the sights of Hobart, whilst also getting a snapshot of the history. It a very busy day on the Saturday when we were using, so much so, that we almost missed out on getting on even though we had pre purchased tickets. Thankfully we were allowed to stand until a seat became available. It was also a very unusual 35-degree day when we were on it, so when we could get a seat, it was up top and not under cover, so it was quite hot. Thankfully Cascades Brewery was one of our stops and we had a refreshing drink after our factory tour. One tip: check the places/tours you can get a discount from because you purchased a red-decker ticket - wish I had before I booked our Cascades Factory tour (lol)

    Amazing
On our recent family holiday we took the Hop on Hop off to Mt Wellington and it didn't disappoint! Our driver was David and he was so welcoming and knowledgeable about the region. Nothing was a trouble even when one of the other passengers stepped on a random nail. He performed first aid and we resumed our journey. The views at the top were sensational! Highly recommend and great value for money.

The hop on hop off bus in Hobart was a fantastic way to get a sneak peak of Hobarts attractions and for us to decide which ones we would visit in our short time there. We also did a tour of Mt Wellington which was well hosted by a knowledgeable and guide with plenty of personality. Would recommend these tours to everyone.

    Worth the ride
If you're visiting Hobart this service is worth the ride. Exploring the City and inner suburbs of Hobart and having 20x different locations to disembark and board is an excellent way for a visitor to see the City.

Great way to get to ZooDoo
Took the bus to Richmond with Jason. He was great. I just wanted to go to ZooDoo and he was kind enough to escort me in and ensure I got a discount. He met me at the Zoo when we headed back to get the rest of the group and bottle to Hobart. Although I traveled solo he treated me with full attention and so offered helpful insight to the group. Glad I found out about this lower cost option to get to ZooDoo from Hobart

    Worth it.
We found the red decker bus a great way to get around the city. It was easier than trying to drive around and find parking. The drivers were friendly and helpful and the sites and areas the bus stopped were well chosen. The only slight down fall we had was how busy it was on the Saturday and a couple of times the bus was too full to get on. This then meant we had to wait another hour for the next bus. A slight inconvenience if you only have the 24hr ticket.

The buses are quite new and very clean. There is an open observation deck on the upper level. The driver was amusing and gave additional commentary beyond the pre-recorded commentary.
The service only operates between the hours of 9:00am and 4:30pm, despite being touted as a 24 Hour Ticket. Be careful not to be left stranded and have to catch a taxi back to town. We had to forego a visit to the Botanical Gardens (which close at 5:00pm) due to the last return bus from the Gardens leaving at 4:15pm.
Also, it would have been much cheaper and much quicker for the two of us to catch a taxi from Hobart CBD to the Cascade brewery - 5 minutes and $13 to $16 each way, total, versus the $35 per person ($70 total) for the 40 minute bus ride with the “24 hour Red Decker”.
OK, so we don’t expect the bus to run 24 hours per day, but 9 to 4:30 is a bit mean for the $35 per person price of a ticket. You can use the ticket for 24 hours from the time of purchase, but that’s of little use if you are there for only one day, or if you start using it at 9:00am.

Dear Antechinus, thank you for your review and feedback from your recent experience with Red Decker. I’m pleased to hear that you enjoyed the tour from the top-deck with amusing commentary from your driver. I am sorry for any confusion regarding our 24 hour ticket option. It is most definitely a 24 hour ticket (valid for 24 hours from the time you first board), rather than a tour that operates 24 hours a day. Our timetable is clearly displayed within our brochure and can also be downloaded from our website. Our operating hours are 9.00am – 4.30pm on the summer timetable. This is comparable to other Australian hop-on hop-off bus services – with the exception of Sydney which is a much bigger city. We will however continue to assess the viability of adding additional departures to extend our service. You may also be surprised to know that our hop-on hop-off ticket price is cheaper than in other Australian cities. While a taxi ride may be a cheaper option to visit a specific attraction, I’m sure you'll agree that our hop-on hop-off sightseeing tour is more than simply a mode of transport to get from A to B. For many of our passengers, the 90 minute tour provides a helpful orientation to Hobart with entertaining and informative commentary and lots of helpful insights into the many things to see and do whilst visiting our beautiful city. Please be assured that your feedback is greatly appreciated and will assist us to improve our service for future passengers. Thanks again, I hope that you had a lovely holiday in Hobart. It was a wet dismal day in Hobart (the day before I got sunburned 🤷🏼‍♀️), I thought this would be a good introduction to Hobart and paid the $40 each so we could orient ourselves to the city. ( We often do this in a new city) We boarded the bus and we told to take a poncho and go up stairs as there were no undercover seats. We sat in the rain, unable to hear much of the commentary as the wind and road noise drowned it out. We had not been offered/told that to do the cascade brewery tour we needed to pre book when we purchased our tickets at Brooke Pier, the driver advised if we wished to do this we would need to book online (difficult to do when you are trying to keep your belongings dry under a poncho). We gave up as we were cold and wet and got off the bus when it was near our accommodation. This company should either canopy the top deck on wet days or not sell so many tickets. It would also be nice if when purchasing you ticket they advised of stops where you need to pre book, and offered to assist you with this ( customer service much?). Very disappointed with the experience and definitely not worth the cost.

Hello BethDid, Thank you for the time you have taken to write your review. You may be surprised that Hobart is the second driest capital city second to Adelaide. We rarely have days where we do have rain. We are unable to guarantee the weather on any particular day. We do offer complimentary ponchos on rainy days. We give complimentary guidebooks to all our customers with the details of the attractions and their individual opening hours & booking process. . We acknowledge that hop on hop off buses are not for everyone. An option of a fully guided organised trip with generally much greater costs may be a better option for some people. As with all our tours we offer full tour refunds if you are not 100% happy with your tour experience. Please contact our office to organise this. If you would like to discuss your tour experience further please contact our office. Many thanks. Kind regards, Fiona G Tour Manager

Red Decker is a great way to get a feel of Hobart.
The service was very handy meaning a bus comes by every 30 minutes which is fantastic. Apparently, the buses usually only come by every hour unless a cruise ship is in port, then it’s every 30 minutes. So I guess we were lucky the Pacific Adventure was in port.
Pricing for a 24 hour ticket at $40 per adult is a little expensive, when the buses only run from 9AM to 4:30PM.
The bus drivers were very friendly & provided great commentary along the routes, and they kept their buses sparkling clean inside & out.

I realised that the cruise ship would dock very close to the city so I decided to just see Hobart by way of the Hop On Hop Off Bus. There was a ticket booth at the end of the pier as we disembarked and I got a ticket for the second bus of the day at 9.30am. The weather was forecast to be very warm later so I was happy to go earlier. Definitely get to the departure point well in advance of the scheduled departure time as it was very busy 25 minutes before the bus was scheduled to depart (maybe different for later departures). The driver was very good and helpful as people got off. The commentary was ok and it was a good way to see a bit of the City in an hour and a half. Worth doing.

We booked a tour just 15 minutes before hopping onboard at a half-way stop and enjoyed the tour around sunny Hobart. In the city centre, our bus stopped behind another for 10 minutes and then proceeded to do a short city tour before coming back to the city centre. Our bus wasn't going to take us back to our starting point for another 45 minutes. No announcements on board so check with your driver. Still highly recommended.

I booked this service for a family of six during our single port day in Hobart, Tasmania while cruising on the Disney Wonder. We booked an 11am start time. We arrived at the start location prior to the start time and could not get a bus until 12pm due to the number of tickets sold for this service. Both the Disney Wonder and Virgin Australia cruise ship were docked in Hobart on this day. We were late for our booking at Cascade Brewery and as a result had a shorter time at this experience. When we attempted to get back on a bus after our stop at Cascade Brewery, the next two services were full. After waiting a while at the bus stop (in the elements with no shelter), I called Red Decker and a representative informed me that they were sending an empty bus, but it would be another 40 minute wait. As we no longer had the time to finish the tour we paid for, we caught a maxi taxi back to the port with other travellers who were in a similar position. Very disappointing service, Red Decker clearly did not have the resources to service the number of ticket holders they allowed to book on this date. Upon contemplating requesting a refund as the service we paid for was unable to be provided, I noticed in the terms and conditions that there are no guarantees as to availability of a seat on any service. I regret not simply hiring a vehicle for the day given the loss of opportunity to see Hobart and surrounds that we suffered as a result of the poor practices of Red Decker.

Hello Kellie L, Thank you for your feedback. We are disappointed that this was your experience on your recent tour. I apologise for this. Agreed the day you traveled 26th December was a very busy day on our bus service. I can understand your frustration. We welcome and are excited that Hobart has been included as a stop in the Disney and Virgin Ships maiden voyages in Australia. In the behind the scenes our bus service operationally has slightly different procedures depending on the ship. Its a very streamlined process in the background. Due to the newness of these ship visits, we put into place initial scheduling and to be expected adustments need and have been made. I take responsibility for this. I apologise again for any inconvenience caused. Other factors contributing to more than expected people accessing our service was that on the 26th December there were 2 ships in port. This is rare. Also the day was public holiday and a key holiday season holiday and some sites and attractions and businesses were closed. Although our prebookings were low, high last minute bookings were much higher than normal. Despite it being the holiday season feel reassured that we did have all our available deckers and staff rostered on that day. We offer full tour refunds if our tours don't meet expectations. Please reach out to us and we would be more than happy to arrange this for you. If you would like to discuss your concerns further then please reach out to us. I am sure if you visit Hobart again and use our service your experience on our tours would be a positive one. Many thanks for the time you have taken to write your review. Kind regards. My wife and I caught the first tour of the day from the Tourist Information Centre. We chose to sit upstairs, at the front behind the windscreen. It was very chilly, about 11 degrees celsius. We wished we had worn thermal layers - didn’t expect it to be quite so cold in late November. The 90 minute loop was very interesting - an ideal way to get our bearings. On completion of the journey we had to disembark for 20 minutes of so whilst the bus was sanitised. We rejoined the bus (sitting downstairs this time!) to ride to the Wrest Point Casino, from where we walked to have a look at Sandy Bay. We didn’t rejoin the bus again as we had done what we set out to do.

The driver was very friendly and helpful. We felt the tour represented very respectable value, wityh a few dollars senior discount.

Best value & fantastic experience, our driver Tony on the first day was so helpful and funny & our driver on the second day went out of his way to get us closer to our motel because it was pelting down rain. We arrived on a cruise ship. I had paid and booked a 10.30 city bus trip as I thought this would guarantee our family a seat. It is quite a walk to where the bus is (with a 3yr old). Lucky it didn’t rain. When we got to the bus there was no dedicated line for pre-paid tickets. I spoke to the people in charge and they made sure we got on. They did a great job considering but it was annoying that having pre-planned didn’t make any difference. If they know cruise ships are due then perhaps a little more organisation would help. Not sure why the buses can’t park near cruise terminal?
The tour was well worth the money and a great way to see Hobart. The bus driver was very friendly and commentary was great.
Thank you

Dear 928janc, thank you for taking the time to share your compliments, feedback and photos too. I’m pleased to hear that you and your family had a great day exploring Hobart with us. It sure is a popular option for cruise ship passengers with limited time in port. Pre-purchasing a ticket removes the hassle and time to buy a ticket on the day. We are always looking at ways to ease the pressure on cruise ship days, so your feedback here is greatly appreciated. Our tour starts from the Tasmanian Travel & Information Centre, a short 10 minute walk from the cruise terminal. I understand it would be much easier for cruise passengers if we were able to park outside the cruise terminal. However, there are conditions which prevent us from doing so. Thanks again and we wish you all the best for your remainder of your cruising holiday. Louise V, Red Decker Company.

These red bus tours are always a good way to get an overview of a city but this is a particularly good one. We had several drivers of the course of several day and all were professional and informative and always good for information and advice. The city route that we traveled took in all of the main attractions. Comfy seats and good commentary.
