Historic Port Arthur Day Trip from Hobart Including Cliff-Top Walk to Waterfall Bay
From US$94.82
Discover the sights of the Tasman Peninsula on this full-day tour from Hobart. The tour includes stops at the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site, an infamous 19th-century prison, as well as Richmond Village where you’ll be able to cross Australia’s oldest sandstone bridge. Plus, check out rock formations, the Tasman Arch and Devils Kitchen, along the peninsula’s coastline.
What to Expect
After being picked up at your Hobart hotel (or you can meet at the Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre), board an air-conditioned coach and head to the Tasman Peninsula. View Australia's highest sea cliffs as you drive toward the famous rock formations—Tasman Arch and Devils Kitchen. There, enjoy a short, easy walk along the cliff-top trail to Waterfall Bay.

Following that, explore the UNESCO-listed Port Arthur Historic Site where you can join a guided walking tour, as well as board a harbor cruise; both the tour and cruise are included with your entrance ticket. Wander around the former prison and look inside its solitary confinement cells, while learning about the history of the country's early penal system and the convicts who inhabited this 19th-century prison.

Then, return to Hobart, stopping at Richmond Village on the way back. There, stroll the streets and walk across Australia’s oldest sandstone bridge. At the end of the tour, get dropped off at your hotel.

Wonderful tour and tour guide

Connor provided a lively dialogue about the history surrounding our tour, the convicts, Tasmanian Devils and spots along the drive. The cliff walk was spectacular. The small size of the group made the tour very enjoyable.

We were a group of 6 older females- we had Nick as our driver, he was knowledgeable, funny and I heard other passengers asking him what other tours could they go on if he was leading them? He knew his stuff. The scenery was amazing!...More

I’m sure you can if you have someone to take you around in your wheelchair. Right now their summer is approaching. So check the weather before you leave. Their Tasman cruises are amazing!
