About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- lindazT4967DR0 contributionsThe best tourThis tour was one of the coolest amd best things I ever did! Dan & Marianne as his sidekick were the best guides you could wish for and I felt safe and comfortable the whole trip. I have met wonderful people during this time and have learned so much about the fauna, flora and the culture of the natives. Especially when two natives themselves (John and Rosemary) talked about their clan‘s culture, their history and shared their stories with us. Their tours were amazing, authentic and so unique (in the best way possible). The food was amazing as well (thanks Marianne)! It‘s so special eating breakfast at 5am while sitting at the fire and staring into the starry sky. We saw the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets and so many wild and rare animals. So try something new, it will be worth it, you will get to know so many other lovely people and create the most memorable memories.Written 21 March 2025
- A3036LWjoannas0 contributionsA must-do for wildlife loversWhat a wonderful adventure the three-day tour with Elliott and Henny it was! A must-do for wildlife lovers - there is no other place in Australia where one can spot a koala 🐨 in so many trees! The beaches and rock formations on Kangaroo Island are insane - it is impossible to see everything in less than three days. Elliott is a great and most knowledgeable tour guide - very passionate about the environment and conservation too. The Milky Way above visible from open swags is a huge bonus. A highly recommended tour!Written 19 March 2025
- Quest605301303450 contributionsSimply amazing! As an almost 76 years old women, I can tell that this tour was a long life’s dream coming true!! From the very first contact with the company I felt that I could trust all they promised. AND I’m NOT disappointed, - everything has been very well planed and went as expected. In many ways due to our fabulous guide Dan, and his sweet girlfriend who help him by cooking delicious meals for us. He has a great knowledge of many things. Let it be history or geology, - but especially the outback and the aboriginal culture, - it was a pleasure to meet his aboriginal friends, who gave us a VERY speciel experience! Simply amazing! Not only has Dan a great knowledge, but it was clear that he enjoyed sharing this knowledge with us guests. And with great humor and good music too. I have to be honest, - the summer heat was a bit challenging….but not only for me old woman.😉 I was happy for the alternative walks I could choose, though. Sleeping in the swags under the billion stars was wonderful, and can’t really be described. Big THANKS!Written 26 February 2025
- 129rachaelm0 contributionsAmazing 8 Day Adelaide to Uluru TourI did the 8-Day Adelaide to Uluru Tour in February 2025 as a solo traveller and had the most amazing time with a great group of people. The tour was brilliant and well organised from start to finish. Our tour guide Steve was great - he was good company, told interesting stories and facts, pointed out the wildlife, made sure we had good food each day and enough water and suitable shoes for hikes. I would highly recommend this tour - it was fantastic and a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you untamed escapes!Written 15 February 2025
- davidsY7275SR0 contributionsA Highlight of my Australia Trip! This tour is probably the best way to explore the Outback and see its hidden gems. We visited breathtaking locations, lookouts, canyons, and encountered plenty of wildlife along the way. Dan, our guide, was experienced, knowledgeable, and hilarious af. Plus, he has excellent taste in music. This was undoubtedly one of the highlights of my trip through Australia. Highly recommend—10/10!Written 9 February 2025
- 561hamideht0 contributionsAmazing experienceWe are return costumers of untamed escapes. Our first experience with Ian (Beebs) was so great that we came back and asked if he could be our tour guide again for Coffin bay day tour. We had a fantastic time. Visiting Coffin Bay national park, lunch at Oyster HQ, Oyster boat tour, wine tasting, so many little visits and sights to see. Incredible experience.Written 2 February 2025
- michaellX8251KL0 contributionsOutback Adventure!South Australia is just amazing. I would have never camped there and experience the Outback without Dan and Untamed Escapes. Dan was an excellent tour guide and cared for his clients. He was very knowledgeable and worked hard to make the trip as fun as possible. The Aboriginal experiences we had along the way was outstanding. Getting to speak with the original owners was priceless. Thank you so much!!!!Written 2 February 2025
- majasN2794GY0 contributionsWe love DanThere has never been a greater adventure than the 8 day Adelaide to Uluru tour with tour guide Dan! He managed to make it the experience of a lifetime. Never lost his sense of humour despite serveral problems and always went the extra mile to make the experience even more special for us than it was anyway. Thanks also to Untamend Escapes who let us stay in air-conditioned 4-bed-rooms once after a hard day so we could revitalize. You should be expecting an outdoor adventure and be willing to help a lot and be fit to get up early, walk a lot, drive a lot, deal with changes of plan.Written 29 January 2025
- Culture092227797420 contributionsWe had the best time!We really loved the tour, the nature on Kangaroo Island is just stunning and we saw a bunch of different animals (Kangaroos, Koalas, Seals, Pelikans…). There is a Little private beach near the Camp which is just stunning! Our Tourguide Adam was amazing, we had such a good time. The food was also really delicious, it was fun to help out in the kitchen and they were always vegetarian options. It was my first camping trip & I really enjoyed it - would definetly do it again :)Written 12 January 2025
- M165BBjanf0 contributionsPerfect 3-day getawayVery well organized trip. Plenty of time at all the sights we visited. Beautiful nature and wildlife. The campsite is gorgeous, near a beautiful beach, where no one else comes. Highly recommend this trip. Many thanks to Adam, our guide!Written 12 January 2025
- jessicanastassjad0 contributionsBeaches, Wildlife, and Unforgettable Memories: The Perfect TourThe "10 Days from Perth to Adelaide" tour was my very first tour in Australia, and I could not have been happier with my choice. In the last few days, I was not only able to swim at the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen, observe Australian wildlife such as koalas, dolphins, seals, kangaroos (and even a great white shark) up close, and sleep daily under a starlit sky, but I also made long-lasting memories with an amazing group of people. Special thanks go to our tour guide, Jackson, who made this trip unforgettable. Thank you for the tasty, freshly cooked meals (and my vegetarian options), thank you for your valuable knowledge about First Nations culture and Australian wildlife, and thank you for your light-hearted jokes and the laughter we shared!Written 18 December 2024
- cameronbE3005CK0 contributionsGreat adventureWhat an adventure. In just threee days we covered this beautiful island and our amazing guide Elliot showed us all the best spots - including where to spot koalas and the tamar wallaby which we were successful in seeing. The camp spot was beautiful next to our own exclusive white sand beach. Waking up to a sunrise with kangaroo checking out the camp was a personal highlight. Elliot’s knowledge of the local fauna and wildlife was really impressive - especially as he himself wasn’t a kangaroo island local. The three days honesty felt like three months - didn’t want it to end. Thanks Elliot - and Adam who ensured we made the ferry in plenty of time when he collected us from Adelaide bus station - and back again!Written 8 December 2024
- Passenger387948890570 contributionsGreat adventureI would highly recommend this trip!! It was a great experience!! Right amount of adventure and rest time. The camping site had all the conditions! We saw a lot of wild life thanks to our guide Eliot. He was a great guide and show us the best spots in the island! The food was very good and the company even better!Written 5 December 2024
- 506ilanaa0 contributionsGood escape to Kangaroo islandI was very satisfied with this trip. Choosing 3 days for Kangaroo Island is I think the best decision, allowing you to enjoy without being pressed for time. Fantastic encounters with the group and the guide Elliot - we had a lot of laughs! I have very fond memories of this trip ☺️Written 3 December 2024
- angelakO4856KF0 contributionsBrilliant experience, saw so much!We managed to pack a lot into three days, we were taken to some beautiful bays and beaches, the remarkable rocks were magnificent and fun to play on, and we saw lots of cool animals seal lions, fur seals, kangaroos, koalas, dolphins and lots of cool birds. The view at the Dudley winery was just stunning! We were fed so well throughout and Eli and Elliot were really great guides, so knowledgable and always kept the group in good spirits! I had a fab time thank you!Written 10 November 2024

Thank you to everyone from the "Ultimate Escapes" - the tour guides Tom and "Jerry", the behind the since staff that created and supported this itinerary and fellow travellers who made these 10 days unforgettable.
We travelled a bit over 4200 km, filled with adventure and camaraderie. We tackled together beautiful hikes, slept in swags (and some of us for a few nights decided to have the luxury in tents) which added a unique touch to the experience.
The diversity of Australia truly is something special. I was thinking the long drive through Nullarbor would be boring, but happen to discover a stunning beauty of the coast - The Great Australian Bight - with its dramatic cliffs and gorgeous ocean with the whales … and when you think, further down, opposite them is Antarctica
Cape Le Grand NP - another place that I really enjoyed very much. The beaches are stunning. The whitest and finest sand in the world is in Lucky Bay where we were really "lucky" to spend 2 days. The water is crystal clear and dipping your legs in the freezing water after a long hike was so refreshing.. oh, those those little moments were the best!
In general, this trip was intense, a bit physically demanding, but the more time passes, the more we appreciate and like the experience.

I'm not a fan of tour groups as I prefer travelling on my own. As this part of the world is not really for people who can't drive, then a tour is the only option. It's a unique tour when everybody gets along, everybody is lovely and most importantly when the guide is amazing. It was a wonderful group to be amongst. The most inspiring thing I found about Jackson, was his lust for life and his love of cooking. This guy is a maniac (in a good way) in all the camp kitchens including roadside cooking. He had me at Bailey's cheesecake. At that point he could do no wrong...he made a frigging Bailey's cheesecake while camping. As a guide, he's informative, engaging and so personable. He tells fantastic stories and has a great sense of humour. This goes a long way when you're rained on while in your swag at 3am and everything is wet, the bus decides to play up along the way, will it start? or is it don't turn off the engine! to road train explosion in the Nullarbor causing road closures, bush fires and an overnight at the Roadhouse. We were all still relaxed, having fun and making the most of every experience. It was definitely a truly unforgetable road trip with truly awesome people, well navigated and managed by an experienced and outstanding guide. Even his hair is amazing. It's so annoying 🤣

Thank you for sharing such an entertaining and heartfelt review! We’re so glad you took a chance on group travel and that your experience was nothing short of unforgettable. Jackson truly is a superstar, and it sounds like he outdid himself with his roadside cooking skills—Bailey’s cheesecake while camping is next-level impressive! I need to see a photo of this!
It’s wonderful to hear how his enthusiasm, humour, and incredible stories kept everyone’s spirits high, even during those unpredictable moments. We’ll be sure to pass along your kind words (and compliments about his hair—it really is amazing!) to him.
We’re thrilled you found the group dynamic so special and made lasting memories. Hopefully, we’ll see you on another adventure soon—Jackson might even have a new dessert up his sleeve! 😄
Happy travels,
Hassie

I had a fantastic time during this 10-day Adelaide to Perth Adventure tour. The tour was a great mix of sightseeing/hiking/swimming/wine tasting..., and swag camping under the stars was so much fun.
I saw so many highlights of the South coast of Australia but never felt rushed thanks to the great organisation and instructions from our wonderful guide Brendan. He had so much energy, plenty of fun stories to share, great playlists, was always in a good mood and I really felt in safe hands. Brendan went above and beyond for our group and really made this trip special. He dealt perfectly with the unexpected and did his best to accommodate everybody's requests and requirements. Finally, he cooked delicious meals for us everyday and added a few bonus activities/stops to the itinerary.
It was a wonderful experience that exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to do another tour with Untamed Escapes.
Thank you Brendan and Untamed Escapes for this amazing trip!

If you are seeking adventure, want to make new friends from around the world, experience Australia from ground level & you are not precious or a princess or prince, the 10 day Adelaide to Perth tour is for you. You will meet like minded people, see, hear smell, touch & feel the real essence of the Australian coast, desert & bush.
I was a little concerned as the oldest of the group of 14 mostly international travellers aged 20-30's, that I may not fit in but that was definitely not the case. I had many years of camping experience in my past but hadn’t slept in a swag for 30 years. It was definitely an advantage but not necessary to enjoy the trip. The tour brought back many happy memories for me.
Our Guide/Driver/Cook/Leader/People Herder extraordinaire Brendan created a cohesive group quickly, encouraging participation, jokes, stories & interaction in all activities. He kept us all safe, entertained & well fed. I was so impressed with his ability to plan, shop, prep & cook all the meals (excluding the final night where we had pizzas) whilst catering for those with food intolerances etc. You will be very tired & probably a little dirty at the end, but you will have new life skills, new friends, 1000s of photos & countless great memories.
The Baird Bay sea lion experience was the true highlight of the tour for me. Cape Le Grand was also spectacular & I am glad we spent 2 nights there. Sleeping under the stars was fabulous & although we did encounter some rain, it didn’t ruin the experience. I would offer a suggestion that each swag is allocated a small tarp with ties & a few pegs to anchor it over the swag in the event of light rain. The tarp could also be used as a groundsheet, as this would facilitate keeping the base of the swag clean & dry & easier to roll.
Thank you Brendan & Untamed Escapes xx

I do not recommend Untamed Escapes.
I recently undertook the 10 day camping tour from Adelaide - Perth.
Their website claims 'Unearth Australia with your expert guide', however this was not the case. The 'guide' had not completed the trip before, never been to any of places we were visiting and had no knowledge of the history or area we were travelling to. There was zero knowledge imparted and valuable time lost in finding our destinations and/or a good place to stop.
The company chose to allow the trip to run at full cost, with a new employee to lead the tour without providing the appropriate level of training or a mentor to learn from. This was negligent. It compromised the safety, enjoyment and value for money for its customers. At the very least we (the customers) should have been informed of the situation and possibly a discount offered as our trip essentially was a 'trial run.'
At the conclusion of the tour, Untamed Escapes requested feedback, which I provided. Their explanation was that this trip was their first after the Covid period and they had trouble recruiting new guides. All their previous employees had moved on to other careers. An apology was provided.
We visited many interesting places, undertook great hikes and saw some amazing scenery. However, I could have seen this on my own. The reason I choose to embark on a tour is to learn from knowledgeable guides about the history of the area and know exactly the best places to stop to maximise the time and enjoyment I have in a certain location.

Hi Claire @claireIP7839QE
My name is Craig Haslam (Hassie), and I am the business owner. Thank you for your review of our 10-day Adelaide to Perth camping tour, and I think you have been more than fair with your comments.
I don’t think we have had a similar review in all my years as the owner. The buck stops with me. I felt that Taz could handle the tour with support, but as per your feedback, I was wrong, and your experience with our company was unsatisfactory. And for that, I sincerely apologize.
My Operations Manager, Brendan, did respond to your email feedback, but I would like to add some additional information.
Although we have been running tours since 2004, this was our first camping tour post-COVID, and personally, I felt like we were starting the business all over again. This is not an excuse; in hindsight, I wish we had advised the passengers that we had a new Guide doing her first tour of the Nullarbor.
Pre-COVID, when guides were readily available, guides would not do a trip like the 10-day Adelaide to Perth without having done a famil trip and working with a senior guide to learn the route but also understand what is required to operate camping tours. Unfortunately, as we lost all of our Senior Guides during COVID, we have recruited new Guides. Taz is great, and we are excited by her passion to learn, and we are sure she will develop into a great guide. But the first trip is difficult – for all of us, including me as the business owner.
We had our intern, Demi, on board to support Taz, and we naïvely thought that they would be able to help each other, and it seemed all was going OK until the distance of the Nullarbor crossing.
Whilst we have an Interpretative Manual for Guide with tour information, the first tour is about handling the journey and the subsequent trips, which is when that local knowledge you have read starts to flow.
I regret not considering contacting the passengers to give them pre-tour advice to say that Taz was doing her first trip. To be honest, it never entered my mind as an option. It was more about supporting Taz through the tour with extra human resources (Demi), and in saying that, I personally still do not think we supported Taz well enough on her first trip.
We believe that Taz will be a great guide with more training. Our new Operations Manager has recently overhauled our Guides training and induction processes, and since your complaint, we have implemented a new training policy as part of the Guides Training Program to ensure this never happens again.
So, thank you for your fair assessment of our tour. As a company and business owner, I take this feedback on board, and we look to improve.
I will contact you via phone to discuss the matter further, including compensation to make up for your disappointing experience.
Sincerely,
Craig "Hassie" Haslam

Easily one of the best trips I've ever done! There is no better way to explore the south coast of Australia than the 10-day adventure tour. Brendan was an incredible guide - kept everyone positive through the tough days (long drives through the Nullabor & small spurts of rain) and made the trip special for each of us. He cooked some of the best meals I've ever had in my life - and this is on a camping trip!
Would absolutely recommend this trip to anyone who loves the outdoors and wants to explore a remote area of Australia. Some highlights for me were sandboarding in Talia, Hikes in Cape Le Grand Nat'l Park, and the winery/brewery tours in Margaret River.
Thanks to Brendan and Untamed Escapes for the lifelong memories!

I'm so happy to hear you loved traversing the Nullarbor with Brendan and your fellow tour mates - and eating some of the best meals of your life! We agree this tour is the best way to explore the south west of Australia
The sandboarding activity sure is a highlight, and I'm glad you loved this and the other activities.
We hope to welcome you back on another Untamed Escape with us sometime soon.
Until then, travel safely.

The views, the wildlife and wildflowers throughout our whole trip were awesome in the fullest sense of the word. The itinerary was wonderful, and so professionally organised. In particular, Steve, our outstanding guide made the whole trip a wonderful experience for us - he was knowledgeable, thoughtful, extremely well organised and made everything appear seamless. We felt safe in his hands and cared for. We would definitely take another tour with Untamed Escapes!

This trip was one of a kind... I've never learnt so much about history, geology, indigenous practices, flora and fauna. Our guide Brendon is one of the best tour guides I've ever had and it was an absolute privilege to be able to learn from him. He made everything so engaging and exciting, and turned our tour of random people from around the world into a family that I'll never forget! The activities were so diverse and fun and I guarantee anyone to go on this trip will find themselves with new passions, new friends, different experiences and overall have a new perspective about the world! Thank you team Untamed Escapes :)

The 10-day tour from Perth to Adelaide was absolutely amazing. Great beaches, great hikes, lots of encounters with Australian wildlife, and sleeping in a swag sleeping bag under the stars. Our tour guide Elliott did a great job. His knowledge and expertise about Australia, the wildlife and the Aboriginal culture is impressive. Food preferences were also taken into account and variety was provided.
Last but not least, I would also like to recommend the optional activity of swimming with sea lions and dolphins. An unforgettable experience!

We were fortunate to be part of a small group guided by Jackson who we cannot praise highly enough. He was a brilliant guide giving enough but not too much information, and keeping everyone on track and involved in every aspect of the trip. He was knowledgeable and passionate about everything we did and provided meals way beyond our expectations.
We loved camping out in the swags and all the camping spots provided something different. The variety of activities was excellent, we especially enjoyed the hikes, beach time and crossing the Nullabor (even though it rained!).

I assume I would need to fly back to Adelaide from Perth at the 10 day conclusion. Is that something you would be able to arrange?
Do you organise conducted tours in and around Perth? If I decide to stay on for a few days would you be able to arrange this, or recommend a reliable tour company?
