In Queensland, XXXX means beer, but how did this iconic brew get its name? Find out on a fun and fascinating 90-minute tour of the XXXX brewery. Your guide greets you in the brewery’s visitor center. Enjoy an introduction to the history of beer making, and learn some of the brewery's techniques. After your introduction, walk throughout the central parts of this historic site. Put on safety gear and check out the machinery that brews, stores and bottles beer. Most weekdays, you can enter the Packaging Hall to marvel at the state-of-the-art packaging line. Watch thousands of beer bottles whiz past you on a distribution line; most breweries don't allow you to get this close! Once you have delved into the inner workings of the brewery, get instruction on how to pour the perfect glass of beer in the XXXX Restaurant and Bar. Taste four freshly made brews with a new appreciation for the work that went into making the tasty beverage. After about an hour and a half your tour wraps up. Feel free to kick back in the bar and enjoy XXXX's legendary beers or visit the gift shop before making your way to your next destination.

      XXXX in depth
Loved this tour, Ken was a fantastic guide and incredibly knowledgeable on every part of the process. The first video on the round screen on floor was a little hard to see, but a very minor issue compared to the rest of the tour

      Interesting, informative and delicious
A very interesting and informative tour, full of history, facts and modern updates. Josh was a great tour guide - thanks Josh. We enjoyed trying the beers at the end and the burgers and chips were delicious and perfect for absorbing some of the alcohol for those amongst us not used to it. We are still talking about the chips the next day. Definitely recommended

      HIGHLY RECOMMEND XXXX TOUR
What an unforgettable experience! Our tour guide Torry was super funny and entertaining. The history on beer videos played were well put together and engaging. The whole tour was amazing and the beer tasting was fun! We also got $5 gift voucher to spend on awesome XXXX merch. After the tour we had some yummy Woodfire pizza and more beer in the bar area and played pool. Such a fun Saturday afternoon spent with friends! I would highly recommend if your looking for things to do in Brissy!

Must do even if you don’t like their beer!
We booked as we had a voucher for 50% in the entertainment book and it was worth it! Even if you don’t like the beer, seeing how beer is produced in mass amounts and packed. Also history of the company and lots of samples at the end.

As this was our first visit to Australia, particularly to Brisbane, I researched various activities we could enjoy while on our trip. The XXXX Brewery tour came highly recommended, so I booked it well in advance with the lunch add-on. Both the tour and lunch provided excellent value for money. It was fascinating to learn about the history of the XXXX Brewery and to see the factory's current production in action. Our tour guide, whose name I can't recall, enhanced the experience with his engaging style and extensive knowledge. I highly recommend the XXXX Brewery tour as a must-do activity in Brisbane!

The Stafford PROBUS Club did a 90-minute tour of the Castlemaine XXXX Brewery on Saturday 28th October and it was unforgettable. The tour guide, Joshua, was extremely knowledgeable and delivered the information on the background of the brewery and the current status in a very entertaining manner. He had a delightful sense of humour. The beer tasting at the end of the tour was very much appreciated on a hot day and again he delivered the beer and the information in a way that kept everyone interested. We all enjoyed our lunch that followed the tasting and everyone in group thoroughly recommends this tour to anyone who wants to know a lot more about Queensland's favourite beer.

This was the 2nd time I'd done the XXXX brewery tour, but this time I brought my wife as well as family who were on holiday from the UK.
The 1st time I visited was back in 2008, but it hasn't changed that much. The tour itself was really good fun and very interesting, thanks to our superb tour guide, Ken.
The tour starts with a short history of beer, followed by a video on XXXX and its origins. Upon completion of the video, the tour of the brewery/facility commenced. The process of beer production is explained from start to finish, showing the different stages in production. We also saw the kegging and packaging facilities. The tour ended in the alehouse where we tried several beers brewed in-house. It was a nice touch to receive a discount voucher for merchandise.
I didn't try the food this time but from what I saw come out to other customers, it was well presented and reasonably priced.

It's great to see how much the brewery has evolved over the years and the initiatives it uses to minimise its impact on the environment.

Minor comments, none of which impacted the enjoyment.

At times it could be difficult to hear what the tour guide was saying due to machinery noises. Perhaps a microphone or radio earpieces for guests would help.

It was a shame to see that "XXX sparkling ale", which was exclusive to the alehouse and breakfast creek hotel is no longer available.
I thought it was interesting to compare this older recipe beer to the current brews produced today.

I would definitely recommend the tour to anyone visiting Brisbane. A true Queensland icon.

    Big thanks to Ken.

We are not new to this type of tour (Heineken, Guinness) so not easily impressionable.
But, you want our Guide very sociable and nice, you want the cheerful and friendly company, yours and it took place in a very familiar way....
And the best came at the Pub/Bar inside the factory. In perfect British style we were welcomed with the first six tastings of the various types of XXXX produced in the factory (special mention for ULTRA) and then for our lunch of Hamburgers and chips still accompanied by other beers!
    Absolutely perfect!!!

What a great way to spend a couple of hours, doing the XXXX tour in Brisbane. So very informative. It starts with getting your safety instructions and watching a short movie which covers the history of the place, then we are off to show you exactly how things are done. The staff are so very knowledgeable and friendly, so glad we did this. At the end there is the added bonus of getting to try a few of the beers - included in the price. Enjoyed it all and would certainly recommend.

This was a birthday gift, went along with my wife.
Tour was for 1 hour and 30 minutes but went for 2 hours our guide was very knowledgeable and the tour was very interesting.
We enjoyed our meals that where part of the package tour and purchased some xxxx merchandise which was very reasonably priced.
I would recommend this to be a go to when visiting Brisbane or just a nice couple of hours taking in some Queensland history .

Paul the tour guide has been around the brewery for a long time - and new his stuff. He kept the group moving at a good pace, while entertaining us with facts and stories about his time working for XXXX since the 70s.

Was a shame the tour doesn’t operate while the brewery and plants are in full swing, but still a great behind the scenes glimpse.

Good way to spend a few hours on a rainy (or not!) Brisbane afternoon!

Fascinating. Ken, our guide, had a great enthusiasm that shone through. Possibly slightly long and due to loud machinery you couldn’t hear guide at parts unless close to them which wasn’t possible in large group. (I think part of the length was Ken trying to make up for lost time as people were late) Ken’s knowledge was amazing and obviously loves his job. Overall, very enjoyable and educational. Great merchandise - and very reasonable price, especially with the $5 voucher. Would be great if the guide could tell people to turn phones off or to silent for the duration of the tour, as twice someone’s phone rang and disturbed what was happening. It would’ve been great to see some of the brewery in action - the bottle labelling was hard to imagine without seeing it working. It is great to hear how much of your by-products are recycled. Overall, great experience and very good value for money.

We did the tour for my son’s 20th birthday with some mates. It was fabulous. Our guide Ken was sensational and had been in the XXXX family his whole life. My son got to spike the wooden keg and then we all got to enjoy the best beer in the world

We took a group of Intellectually disabled adults on a XXXX Brewery tour with the burger option. We all thoroughly enjoyed out tour, and especially our hilarious guide. The videos were very informative in a fun way and touring the factory and museum was a hit with our group. The tasting was good with 3 beers to sample, and lunch was lovely with 3 choices available. The bar and dining area is very comfortable, with lounge chairs, a pool table, and old factory memorabilia. Another hit was the $5 voucher each to be used toward some merchandise, with options from $5 up to $30 odd. Give it a go!
