A thoroughly enjoyable from Litchfield Escapes
Will from Litchfield Escapes came to pick us up at 5.50am from our hotel. What a truely fab guy. An all rounder who was full of so much Litchfield information making our long journey a joy while listening to him as he drove. We arrived early at the Croc Tour but it appeared there a problem with staff so he ended up doing that tour himself..what a versatile fella! Lunch was set out undercover at Buley Hole which was all nicely prepared and laid out while we looked at Buley. On our drive stopping to show us bushtucker and photoshoot at a termite mound. All in all a good value and enjoyable day.

Amazing day with Awesome Guides can’t fault it
Just finished an amazing fun packed and adventurous day trip with these guys. Will our guide was on it from the get go and provided us with great commentary throughout. Our trip on the Adelaide river with the Captain was sublime and we got to see some amazing wildlife and crocodiles 🐊 in their natural habitats and that too was a massive thrill. Can’t fault the company. Lots of nice food and snacks provided and the swims around various water holes were scenic and just lovely. Thanks guys and good job 👏👏

        An outback adventure
We were out with Will for 14 hours, what an amazing fella. Knowledgeable, hilarious, upbeat and so patient. Waterhole, creeks, superb lunch, snacks and good loo breaks. Incredible trip on the Adelaide River with Damo was terrifyingly exciting as we were lucky enough to see some salties. I learnt so much from both blokes. Fantastic day, the bush has a tad of my heart. Thank you. Milly UK

        Great day!
It was fantastic from pick up at our hotel at 6am to drop off back to the hotel at 5pm. Will was our tour guide and he was very knowledgeable about all things bush and entertaining and engaging. He pulled over a couple of times and gave us information on certain trees that are poisonous or eatable for bush tucker and also to get pics with a termite mound. He showed us how to make fire using sticks and told numerous entertaining stories about his experiences in the outback which are many and varied. On the boat with Damo we spent over an hour searching for crocs on the Adelaide River. Damo, like Will knows his stuff and he did his utmost to find us some crocs even though it is wet season and the crocs are showing little interest as it is breeding season but Damo persisted until he spotted us a couple of crocs. We also had a plentiful and tasty lunch of salad and cold meat wraps and watermelon with snacks offered throughput the day. All up it was a helluva day that will be remembered always. Thanks Will and Damo 👍🏼

        local is not always better
Joey, our tour guide, was knowledgeable and friendly. However, there were serious problems with the tour: our bus broke down, and we did not get back from Darwin until 3 hours later than planned. An 11 hour day turned into an utterly exhausting 14 hour day. There’s always the possibility of some very unusual circumstance, but I think it’s fair to say that for a professional tour company, driving only on paved road, it is most likely that either the bus is not well-maintained or that it is so old that it is not possible to keep it well-maintained. As noted in other reviews, the bus was older and not that comfortable. The first seat my wife tried was broken down, but fortunately, the bus was not completely full, so she was able to move to another seat.

Our experience out at Lichtfield was one we’ll never forget! Our tour guide Joey was super friendly and very knowledgeable, gave us great insight to the local fauna, area and aboriginal culture. Dylan was our guide for the river cruise and he was charming and charismatic, was a such a great laugh! 10/10 to both guides 100% recommend anybody considering going to Lichtfield to use this tour!

Recommend this tour to anyone that is interested in swimming spots in their 1 day tour. Damo was our tour guide and he was knowledgeable and made the tour really good fun with his humour (sometimes politically incorrect, so be warned :P)

Daz and Damo are the ultimate duo you want guiding you around NT's natural beauties :)
So super impressed with these guys and the tour price was more than reasonable for everything that was including. Both dudes are very wise and know incredible info about this wonderful territory. Thank you so much again and highly recommend all new and old comers to the NT to book tours with these guys :)

The hosts Damian and Dazza were absolutely wonderful, they were informative and had a great sense of humor. We had the only 2 kids on the tour and would highly recommend this tour for children, they were included the whole time on the boat and during the other activities and they had a blast all day. Lunch was yummy and the aircon in the bus was a plus during the hot day. Thanks so much for an awesome day out. Definatley exceeded our expectations.

Yesterday, we thoroughly enjoyed our one day tour of Litchfields waterfalls and waterholes and Adelaide River jumping crocodile cruise. Damo is a real larriken, loved his dry sense of humour and a very experienced and organized guide , not only was he the driver, he organized the most amazing lunch selection, plenty to eat with snacks and lollies to keep you happy and lots information along the way, he also was very inclusive with the tour members which makes it very memorable. We highly recommend this tour not only for value for money but due to the information and must-do experiences.....if it's the only tour you do...do this one.
      Thanks again Damo.

Being the first pick-up of the day it was a very early star (5.45am!). I enjoyed seeing the crocs, they were a still a bit cold & sleepy so not a lot of jumping! which was fine, in my opinion, as they still swam right up to the boat. We were running a little late (due to our driver having to wait & check on 4 "no-shows") we could only manage 45mins on the water. I could have spent another hour cruising, it was so interesting & the guide was able to point out different bird species as well.
We had a delicious lunch (no drinks so make sure to take your own water) & then off for a couple of dips at 2 separate water holes. I'm fairly agile but several of the older/less agile tourers could not safely climb down to the water, so probably be better to find a spot more accessible for all.
Our driver/guide Rick, was good fun & obviously knew the region well - it was a good day out!

      The bad
Tour guide. From recommending not to use seat belts to intimidating behaviour when answering people questions, ours did not have enough people skills to be a tour guide in my opinion.
Organisational issues. I don’t mind carrying boxes from and back to trailer and doing the dishes but from all the trips in my life around the world this is the first one for me.

      The average
Too many destinations / tour stops - it could easily be 3 tours instead of 1. While it was all worth the visit generally speaking, none of these places were exactly Pyramids in Giza etc. where one would be OK if can’t stay for more than 15 minutes. The beauty of these waterfalls and rock holes is short walks around for nice wantage points and views, then swimming, dipping and cooling off.
E.g. If you take 400m walk to a viewing platform, you will have 10 minutes afterwards to take a dip before running for the bus, etc.

      The excellent
The highlight of our visit to Darwin was jumping crocodiles cruise (which can of course be booked separately …). We were able to see so many crocodiles, face to face. Some of them were huge. They were swimming towards us, circling the boat, letting us come really close on the river bank etc.
I found it difficult to take photographs as you really have to make sure you don’t stick your hands or anything outside the fence (very important), so I would recommend to forget about the photos and just enjoy the encounters with these magnificent creatures, as you look at each other from 1m away.

Hello Allen, thankyou for your comments. We do pack a lot in the day but we try to show you the best of Litchfield in one day after the croc cruise. We visit 3 waterfalls on the day. I am not sure about the guides comments you made as this particular guide you are referring to has many 5 star reviews. Not everyone in life gets along with each other but this guide I don't believe is intimidating. He tries to give you as much information as possible on Darwin and the surrounds. Everyone normally pitches in to help so you can get to the next waterfall a bit quicker. You probably should have hired a car and spent a couple of days out there to really showcase Litchfield and have more time at the waterfalls. Its unfair to compare the NT to the pyramids in Giza. They are worlds apart and offer completely different sights.

The tour we did, combined a cruise on the Adelaide River with Damo and a drive to Litchfield National Park. Getting up close to the crocodiles was excellent and we could see how powerful and dangerous they could be. Damo was a knowledgeable and funny larrikin that appeared to be a typical top ender. The waterfall was great to see but swimming was not allowed because of crocodiles. Our picnic lunch was good. The swimming holes that we visited were pretty but not easily accessible for older less agile visitors. There must be other more accessible water holes to swim in. The main negative was the cramped sitting conditions in the 21 seater bus for a 450 km trip with no room for bags accept on laps. The driver and guide Daz must have been in a hurry to get back to Darwin by the way that he switched lanes and tailgated drivers in front of him who weren't going fast enough.

Hello Chris, thanks for your feed back. The bus is a 24 seater and we don't have a lot of room for bags as it is a day trip. Litchfield is a very diverse place and the main 3 water holes are easily accessible except Florence falls which is a board walk down to the water. We give an option to walk down or it can be viewed from the platform above. Bluey rock holes and Wangi falls are easily accessed. There are more waterfalls in the park but they are normally a 10 minute bush walk to get to them. Being a day tour we do not have time to see anymore. Darwin's road limits are 80 to 100klm and it is frustrating when people are not sticking to the road limits. Daz is a very experienced driver and always has safety for his passengers as his priority. Glad you enjoyed your day out and we could show you some beautiful country that the NT has to offer.

This would have to be one of the best tours we have done in Australia and we have done a few. Our tour guide Will set the tone of the day right from the start. Will is extremely knowledgeable of the area, has stories about every stop along the way and I would have happily talked to him all day.

Will went out of his way to talk to everyone, he would slow the bus down, stop and even reversed it at one point to show us points of interest or local flora and fauna. We were lucky enough to see Brolga’s performing a mating dance out on the flood plains.

The extra little things Will did in regards to the bushtucker and the massive termite mound just topped off the experience. The jumping crocs were great, as we came at the start of the wet season there were fewer crocs as they were starting to mate, but we still had one watching us in the water as we all got onto the boat and there were crocs jumping for food within five minutes of being on the water.

Litchfield park was amazing, being a weekday and start of wet season there were less people around and most of the swimming spots we had were just the crew off the bus and a few extras. We had plenty of room to swim and sit in small little groups without being over crowded. Wangi falls was shut for the wet season but our tour guide made up for us not being able to swim there by adding in a few wildlife stops and bushtucker talks.

Would highly recommend this tour, even tho it’s a long day it’s worth it and we learnt more in one day on the bus about the area then you would reading all the signs in the National park.

Thanks to Will for making our day and a massive highlight of our trip to the NT

If you need to tour Litchfield National Park and experience Croc jumping; then you can't go past Damo and his Litchfield Escapes. From the moment we were promptly picked up from our front door till we were dropped off 10 hours later; there was never a dull moment with a nice sized party of 12 in a fully air-conditioned mini bus, which made the tour so much more intimate for all concerned. By the end of this amazing adventure my Mum (78yo) and I (57yo) had made 12 new mates. Damo was so informative and knowledgeable; no question was left unanswered. It was such a great down to earth "bush" adventure, that we really felt comfortable and enlightened. The Croc jumping was an experience we will never forget. Swimming at water holes, tasty and healthy lunch (supplied), the list goes on and on. Damo; you are a champ. Such a down to earth bloke that just wants everyone to be happy and have a fun day. Best Value tour I've ever had the pleasure of undertaking. Thanks for the lasting memories.. Av and Ruth.
