Overview
Camping in the Australian Outback can be daunting, but this 2-night tour of Watarrka National Park and Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park makes it easy. See the highlights of the two parks and sleep out under the stars with all equipment and transportation from Alice Springs or Ayers Rock Resort included.
Highlights
  • Uluru, Kata Tjuta, and Kings Canyon guided tour with pre-arranged details
  • Plenty of drinking water—travelers simply bring their own bottle
  • Meals and camping equipment for sleeping under the stars provided
  • Round-trip transportation lets travelers focus on the scenery
What to Expect
Be ready for pickup in Alice Springs or Ayers Rock Resort with enough clothing for the duration and a water bottle. Then proceed directly to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. During the journey, focus on the scenery and your guide's commentary instead of worrying about directions and traffic. Once you arrive, take a walk around Uluru's base and peruse the cultural center before setting up camp at a private site for dinner and a night's sleep under the stars. All camping equipment is provided, so you can travel light. Day Two starts with a desert sunrise and then a short drive over to Kata Tjuta, where you can explore the 36 domes and learn about their formation through your guide’s commentary. Take a hike through the Valley of the Winds and then break for lunch and depart for Kings Canyon, where the group will spend the night. Spend Day Three in Watarrka National Park, trekking 3.7 miles (6 kilometers) along the rim of the canyon to see the Garden of Eden, the Lost City, and the Amphitheater. Eat one last lunch with your group and guide, ask any remaining questions you may have about the area, and return to your departure city for drop-off.

Alex was a great tour guide, friendly and knowledgeable. Comfy 4wd tour vehicle and tents with the option to sleep outside in swags. Enjoyable walks to take in the sights: Uluru, Kata-Tjuta, Kings Canyon. Amazing holiday.

Have never done something so wild, primitive and sweaty, but it was an experience for life time. Something or teens and we as a family can look back on and say - we did it!! Wayoutback Safaries gives you a tour with food over fires, dirt road driving and a lot of other great

We really can't recommend this company. It's bizarre that people who book different 'grades' of tours get mixed together, so we got mixed in with people who'd paid about half as much as we did for the same experience. I don't know why it's advertised as a 4WD tour when we all

Thank you for sharing your review. I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed with some aspects of your tour. On occasion it is necessary to combine tours, for example when low numbers are threatening a departure. When this occurs we always upgrade passengers to the higher standard product and complete the itinerary in full so the presence of those upgraded passengers is of no detriment to anyone on board. It is not uncommon for there to be a variance in the rates paid by passengers traveling on the same tour, for example we offer early bird, multi tour rates and group discounts to name a few. This quite common across the industry, most notably in hotels and on airlines and is outlined in our terms and conditions. I was concerned to hear about the issues you experienced with your tour vehicle; Although we make every effort to avoid any such issues there are occasions where unforeseen circumstances do arise and I apologise for any disruption that you experienced. Once again thank you for sharing your review, all feedback is valuable and assists us to continually improve the quality of our tours.

Dear Marek, Thank you for sharing your review, I'm so pleased to hear that you were so well looked after by Jack. I can appreciate your disappointment regarding the vehicle issues you experienced and apologise for the inconvenience. Vehicle maintenance and safety is our highest priority and we make every effort to ensure tours do not experience disruptions however in some instances this cannot be avoided. As commercial passenger vehicles our entire fleet is subject to stringent standards as set by the Northern Territory Motor Vehicle Registry and undergo regular inspections to ensure full compliance. In addition to this we follow a regular maintenance schedule and perform full pre departure inspections on all vehicles prior to every tour, unfortunately despite these efforts unforeseen issues can still arise and I apologise that this was the case during your tour. I was sorry to hear that some food supplies ran low, I can not speak to the specifics of your tour however we do pack food supplies according to the number of passengers on board and find the amounts are usually sufficient. Occasionally though the balance of food can be off, for example if there are big eaters or a number of dietary requests however the guides do make a number of stops and are able to purchase additional supplies as required. It is unclear to me why your guide did not do this when notified of the shortage and I have shared your feedback with our Operations Team so that it can be addressed. Thank you again for sharing your feedback, having run tours in Central Australia for 20 years we are genuinely passionate about creating a memorable experience for our passengers and are saddened to hear of any shortfall. I am glad that overall you enjoyed the locations you visited and wish you well for the remainder of your travels.

Dear karen, Thank you for sharing your fantastic review. The Goanna Safari packs a lot into 3 days and it sounds like you really made the most of it. I'm so pleased to hear that you were so well looked after by Joe, he is a senior guide with Wayoutback and never fails to create the unique and memorable experience that our tours are known for. I know he will appreciate you taking the time to recognise his efforts. Thank you again for sharing your review and I hope the remainder of your travels are as magical as your time in The Northern Territory.
