Overview
Experience the excitement of cruising with Humpback whales during their migration through the pristine Solitary Island Marine Park. We take only 23 passengers aboard "Pacific Explorer", ensuring you have ample opportunity to see the whales up close and personal. This is our 23rd year of continuous operation, so we have the experience and knowledge of how to maximise your time with the whales. Whale watching is our passion and this is best shared with small passenger groups, where you have freedom to move about the wide deck, uninterrupted 360 degree viewing, no restrictive seating and no crowds.

Cruises are 2 hrs, departing from Coffs Harbour International Marina.
As we locate whales from headlands prior to each cruise, we generally have whales near the boat within 15 minutes of leaving the harbour.
What to Expect
Cruises operate daily from June to November annually.
Departure point - “E” finger, Coffs Harbour International Marina, Marina Drive, Coffs Harbour (Eastern end)

Cruise Frequency: Cruises operate every day and are only influenced by weather and sea conditions

Cruise Times -
Morning Cruise: 8:30am – 10:00am.
Note: This cruise is very popular as we find the whales more responsive in the morning as well as favourable cruising conditions
Noon Cruise: 11:00am – 12:30pm
Afternoon Cruise: Subject to demand and weather conditions

Passengers need to arrive 15 minutes before the cruise is due to depart and will be required to register on board.

Refreshments: Tea, coffee, cordial, water, cake and biscuits are served on each cruise.

Why choose Whale Watch Experience

Our Boat "Pacific Explorer"
Pacific Explorer was purpose built as a stable sea-going vessel and to a stronger, government regulated standard than conventional boats.

Whale Watch Experience and Pacific Explorer have a perfect safety record.

Having a wide hull and low centre of gravity Pacific Explorer has reduced rocking and rolling motion, which helps as you move about the boat and with taking photos.

Whilst we specialise in smaller, more comfortable passenger numbers per cruise, on average we take approximately 2000 guests whale watching each year, on 100 cruises.

Our guests have ranged from 8 weeks to 96 years and we welcome passengers with disabilities as much as possible.

Success Rate
Over the last 3 seasons we have had a 100% success rate at finding whales and our average over the last decade is 98%

Sea and Weather Conditions
Above all else, your safety and enjoyment is paramount to us and we will not compromise that to cruise when we believe weather or sea conditions are not favourable.

Had a whale of a time.

We had a whale of a time with Lee, Greg and Mack the dog. Thanks to Lee and Gregs' experience and knowledge plus Macks' uncanny sense of where the whales were, we had plenty to see, nothing was too much trouble for the crew and...More

Fantastic Hosts

Amazing Experience

It was an amazing experience as we could see whales. We were in a catamaran and it was fun. The captain of the catamaran and Lee the tour guide were friendly and lovely people.

The Best

The catamaran, the staff, the experience. Absolutely the best. We booked Pacific Explorer whilst we were travelling down the south coast. The company were fantastic, the staff so relaxed and knowledgeable. I love the fact that they don't over book the vessel, so that everyone...More
