Round trip transfer: Arras or Lens to Vimy Ridge
From US$13.74
Overview
We pick you up at the train station or at your hotel and we drive you in a comfortable vehicule for a visit to the Vimy Canadian Memorial. We deposit you on the site where you will find english and french speaking guides. We set together the time of return, we pick you up at Vimy and we drop you off at the train station or at your hotel.
Remember that this is more of a transportation service than a tourist guide service. However Michel and Rahma are native to the region and know perfectly the sites on which they take you.
You are traveling in a VW Tiguan Carat.
What to Expect
It takes about  20 minutes  to get to the Vimy site. We have 2 cars and can take up to 8 passagers at the  same time.
At the Canada National Vimy Memorial , you will see:
 - the new interpretation centre, underground Grange tunnel, and restored trenches.
 - Canadian Cemetery N°2 and Givenchy Road Canadian Cemetery.
 - the Moroccan Division Memorial.
 - the Monument.
The memorial at Vimy is Canada’s largest war memorial. It is dedicated to the memory of the 66,000 Canadians who died during the First World War. Canadian sculptor and architect Walter Seymour Allward captured the emotion of a nation faced with the sacrifice of its fellow citizens, as well as Canada’s deeply held values of peace and freedom. The memorial site is on land given to Canada in thanks by the people of France. It offers an impressive view overlooking the plain of Artois.
During the Great War, in France, in the north-Pas-de-Calais, at Vimy, near Arras, Canada was recognized by this battle as a free and Indépedante nation. Dedicated to peace and remembrance, the Canadian Vimy Memorial, the most prestigious Canadian monument in Europe, was erected to commemorate this hard battle of the trenches, to celebrate the birth of the Canadian nation and to ensure that this great War is the last.
There are English and French speaking guides in the interpretation centre and tours of the Grange tunnel. The rest of your visit to the site is self-guided.

Best Way To Visit Vimy Ridge

I contacted Michel via email and cannot recommend him highly enough for any journeying in this area. He happily included visits to Zivy Crater and Lichfield Crater (not the easiest CWGC to access!) for us on the way to Vimy Ridge. Vimy Ridge itself with...More

Fantastic experience!!

I can't recommend Michel enough: he was early, flexible, spoke English, and provided extensive "over and above" information about the Vimy Ridge area and WW1 history in the surrounding countryside! He provided great value and exceeded expectations. 5 stars AT LEAST!
