About the operator
- markmD6649YD00Trip of a lifetimeFirst of all, this review is written from the perspective of almost not being able to do the trip at all because of terrible storms and flooding and landslides so we felt blessed that we were able to make it. Janis (the cool one) was amazing. He was flexible with all the activities given the extra time because of the cancellation of the train portion of our trip. He got us to the boat just in time for boarding with no waste of time. We made many stops and diversions along the way to see secret Little photo opportunities off the beaten path. As possible request that you divert to the meteor park for a nice hike to stretch the legs and it's a beautiful views and a little bit of science history. The cruise was amazing and we were again, lucky enough to get perfect weather. There was a option to stop and buy tickets to visit the inside of a old church which we opted out of again, leaving more time to adventure and see some special hidden away sites. On the trip home we stopped at an amazing dinner at beef restaurant which was delicious.
- Curious5889391573600Do it if you can!Amazing day touring the countryside of Norway!!! Private van service to Voss, train to Flåm, 2 hour cruise of the fjords and private drive home. Our tour guide Sergei was punctual and we enjoyed his commentary on the drive to and from our destinations. He was so polite and kept us on task. Very organized and loved the special waterfalls he showed us on the way back!
- jennyj67202300Great trip across fjords! Our driver-guide has picked us up in the morning, then we had a scenic drive to Gudangen. Such a beautiful scenery!! We enjoyed a coffee stop, then the guide made a tons of pictures of us and leaded to the boat..oh the cruise was amazing! Also the Flamsbana is breathtaking, especially when you come near waterfalls. Worth every penny!
- oceanismyhappyplace00Beautiful scenery, poor communicationThe trip itself was beautiful and well worth it. My only issue was communication with Viator. I asked to confirm the departure time and they did, but it turned out we missed the early train we were booked on. This was my fault as well as I didn’t closely read the printed tickets I had, but everywhere online our voucher said 8am. We ended up getting on the 8am train, which we were very fortunate they let us stay in with no seats, but that train broke down and we missed the cruise portion of the trip. Again, I take responsibility for getting on the wrong train, but after communicating with the local travel company, we were told all other transportation would wait fir us because of the train issue. That was not the case. Luckily we were able to take a bus to the place the cruise would have dropped us off and we made it the rest of the way. Bergen is amazing and I definitely recommend making the trip here!
- Drjennbloc00Beautiful, Scenic RouteI read the other reviews - Look, it can be a bit confusing because it is a self-guided tour. We were more than happy to help others who were quite as organized or skilled at travel as we are. The only thing that detracted from this tour was other people, but you can't fault the travel company or the towns for this. Yes, Flam was a port for cruise ships, but if you take time to ingest the beauty you will be much more appreciative. We did this tour over 2 days with one night in Flam and one in Bergen. The Fjord cruise was amazing and we cannot wait to come back and rent a remote house along the path between Flam and Gudvangen. We did the kayak tour in Flam (we ordered paddleboard so a little disappointed). It was great but the guide should have known that the heavier person goes in the back, so we struggled for the first half until we could switch). Overall a great tour.
- Jet2480881881800The tour from Bergen to OsloIt’s very easy to find all the vehicles, and many tourists from worldwide chose this package. I strongly recommend this.
- JOHNV9801200Tripping across NorwayThe fjord tour described a guided adventure though wilderness and a guided commentary cruise through the fjord at Fläm to Gudvagen by way of the Fläm Railway. The overall experience was pleasant. While we expected a more hands-on and informative guided tour rather than what felt like a primarily chauffeured experience, we did enjoy ourselves. Here's my review of the tour: From the moment we were picked up in a comfortable vehicle by a courteous and professional driver, we was greeted with a welcoming demeanor and warm smiles. The vehicle itself was clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable ride throughout the journey. The driver's punctuality and adherence to the agreed-upon schedule were commendable, ensuring that we stayed on track and made the most of our time. The driver made sure we got to our train in Geilo, we were on our own to Fläm (one transfer). At Fläm, our driver was there waiting for us and showed us the boat we were to take and gave suggestions for eating before our departure. Our driver met us at the end of the fjord cruise where he greeted us and drove us back to our hotel. The tour's "guided" aspect fell somewhat short of my expectations. While the driver was friendly and accommodating, there was a noticeable lack of in-depth information and storytelling that one typically expects from a guided tour. We were thinking we were going to get a lot of commentary, historical context, and interesting facts about our journey. Instead, the driver primarily focused on navigating the roadways and providing basic directions, occasionally offering brief descriptions of landmarks as we passed by, and general conversation. While these tidbits were informative to some extent, they lacked the depth and storytelling elements that would have made the tour more in alignment with the expectation laid out in the TripAdvisor description. I understand that the line between a driver service and a guided tour can be blurred, and perhaps the company should consider clarifying their offerings to manage customer expectations better. If the intention is to provide a primarily chauffeured experience with limited commentary, it would be beneficial to highlight that aspect more clearly in their promotional material. The experience was great and there probably wasn't much commentary worth giving so I would say this is more on Tripadvisor than the driver. The fjord tour was more like a glorified ferry service that gave some consideration to sightseeing. There was no guided commentary. If there was one, it was strictly inside...who wants to be inside when outside is where you want to be. That being said, I will say that the driver was accommodating to our requests and receptive to answering any questions we had along the way. His willingness to provide suggestions and adapt the itinerary to our preferences was a positive aspect of the experience. The driver's friendly demeanor and professionalism certainly contributed to an overall pleasant journey. In conclusion, while my guided tour experience leaned more towards a chauffeured service, the comfort and convenience provided were undeniable. However, I do believe the excursion description should better explain what to expect. I don't think this excursion needed to incorporate more informative and engaging commentary. Given the type of excursion provided, our driver could not accompany us on the train or boat. The cost was a bit high but for piece of mind, it was worth it. Despite its shortcomings as a guided tour, the chauffeured experience was enjoyable, and I would recommend it to individuals seeking a relaxed and comfortable means of getting to Fläm. However, if you're specifically looking for a tour filled with captivating storytelling and detailed historical insights, it may be worth exploring other options that prioritize those aspects more prominently.
- NorthStar5983459770400Excellent trip except a miscommunication regarding departure location. We travelled on 11.6.23. The trip was outstanding, except some communication hitch in the beginning. The tour operator/s did not mention clearly the exact departure location of the bus for Arna, connecting to the train at Voss. I spent 2.5 hours at Bergen Bus Station trying to find the departure point. At the end of this tiring endeavour I met a person from VY, who told me that the location name: Zander kaaes gate 6. The message from operator came late. If I had not done this pre-exercise, I do not think that I could have found out the location on time. Except the aforesaid, the trip was excellent.
- 798mandyt00Fjord and Flam RailwayGreat instructions for the transport options, clear. Had some questions before hand answered swiftly.
- Katie W00Great trip- hire the luggage company!!!This was a great trip but it’s quite long. I had baggage with me as I was traveling to Bergen to stay for a few days. There is a baggage service company you can hire to take your luggage straight to your hotel in Bergen. It’s $30USD and worth every penny. No one else on the trip knew about it. The only reason I knew was because I randomly asked the tour operator via WhatsApp text the night before and luckily the company was able to come and take our luggage from our hotel in Oslo and drop it at the hotel in Bergen. Bring snacks and be prepared for a long but pleasant ride with beautiful scenery.
- 119reneep00Bergen fjords!Great solo trip without a guide with all tickets and timing figured out. Elena was online to clarify details through WhatsApp. It does take some figuring out, but not terribly difficult. Great way to travel to Bergen and see the fjords.
- John Z00This is a beautiful place to visit but November isn’t ideal.Five stars if you take this trip in the Spring or Summer. Our guide Ivan was friendly, informative and well-organized. This tour involves him driving us from Bergen to Voss and putting us on a train while he drives to meet us later. It’s no big deal to take a train to Myrdal then cross the tracks for the famous scenic train to Flam. We just didn’t realize we were on our own for that leg . At Flam he puts us on the two hour fjord cruise and meets us at the end to drive a couple hours back. Plenty of time in the car and at lunch to learn from the guide, but a good part of the day - the train and boat - you are on your own. We enjoyed it except that with the early sunset in Nov the last hour in the fjord was dark. It rained incessantly for the week which is now apparently par for the course in Western Norway so come prepared. We came in Nov because it was our only time off. The tour was a highlight of our trip but we recommend a better time of the year.
- jayaraja06600Flam railway tripWe thoroughly enjoyed the trip. It was well organised, the best part was the fjord cruise and the Flam railway which was amazing. We recommend this trip to anyone who enjoys nature
- andrewsE9626GX00Great way to see the best of NorwayFirst of a kind experience for my wife and I. While this wasn't a "tour" and you used public transport for every piece of the trip, it was so easy to transfer from one form of transport to the next. Other than one anxious moment to make sure we were in the correct train car for the Voss to Myrdal section, everything went smoothly and we were able to relax and enjoy the train, boat, and bus rides. Beautiful views of the countryside, mountains, waterfalls and fjords. You're in for an interesting surprise on the rail trip between Myrdal and Flam, at least if it's a nice day out! For us, well worth the price to have another company deal with all the ticketing rather than us trying to figure it all out.
- kaitlynk16100Beautiful Tour of Norways Countryside + Fjords!Very easy to follow! Instructions and tickets were well laid out! Most of the stops were well timed to get refreshments and stretch your legs. The last stop in Myrdal was a little long at 50 minutes, but can see where that's important for any delays plus I'm not sure what other options there are. Overall would recommend. Much better than driving ourselves. The Flam cruise was definitely a highlight!

We were canceled the night before our journey. Booked airlines and hotels all canceled for fee. We had paid in full six months previously. Shame on them. Trip advisor should not subject customers to this kind of expensive trip with no reason for the cancellation and no way of getting refunds due to late notice

Dear Deborah,
1. The tour was declined 2 days before your travel date.
2. You were fully refunded at the moment it was done, and we both received the confirmation of the refund.
Is it possible that you booked the tour through a third party who misled you about the refund and did not notify you in time? Please contact them as it is absolutely impossible for you not to receive a refund from our company or Viator.
We do our best to fulfil all bookings during the high season.
Kind regards,
Elena

The trip was great. Easy to follow instructions made the self guided tour a breeze. We loved the cruise through the fjords in the winter no crowds and beautiful sites.

We loved this self-guided tour. This was really nothing more than having someone else buy you train, bus, and ferry tickets but it was nice to not have to worry about coordinating the timing since there are a lot of transfers. The communication from TripAdvisor was great. They sent instructions ahead of time and contact us before the trip to make sure we have everything we need.
The views from the train and ferry were absolutely amazing. The only reason for the 4 stars is because we did our tour on a Sunday and by the time we got to Bergen, everything was closed. It was still nice to walk around the town but I wish we would’ve gotten a heads up instead of being a little disappointed with the “grand finale”.
We’re also so glad we opted for the sleeper car on the train ride back to Oslo. It was so nice to be able to lay down and sleep after a whole day of traveling.

how do we do this trip to bergen without the tour operator?where do we buy separate ticket for the railway and bus?can someone guide please,we r a family of four, taking tour directly will become very expensive.

Hi the tour operator provides a detailed written agenda along with the tickets for the trains, boat and bus. It tells you times and what trains to take. Many other travellers are on the same tour making it easier to follow. I believe you could buy tickets on the train separately but I don’t think it would be cheaper. We saved money by traveling back on the night train in a berth, no hotel cost.

Is the trip guided all the way from Oslo, or do you need to find the trains etc by yourself?
Podrían explicarme que significa "autoguiado". Hay guía en todo momento o en forma parcial. Gracias por su gentil respuesta, que espero a la brevedad.
