So happy for this experience, it was the icing on the cake for my travel to Tromsö. Really guides and we took a non-crowded and comfortable bus to a sami tent where we saw northern lights dancing for almost half an hour. When it was too cloudy we stayed in the tent to drink some cocoa and heat up on the open fire. Was in Tromsö for 2 days before to chase the northern lights by myself, but theese guys are experts. Totally worth the money. Also got several high quality photos and videos from the night so I will remember this for ever.

We didn’t see much of the lights, probably only for around 5 minutes on the camera but it was quite cloudy and Mother Nature can’t be helped. Hot chocolate and cakes were great. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the lights and took us to the best spots to wait. Mini bus was very comfortable and warm. Thanks for the experience! And getting photos the next day was a bonus

We did not see the Aurora due to tricky weather, but due to the fantastic guide Paul and the superb bus driver Tor we had an excellent night out in the Lyngen area. Safe and very well organized trip. Highly recommended

Being at a specific base is not the best choice to "hunt" the northern lights.
The guide told us they almost all the time go to this specific base because it has the best weather conditions in the area. Unfortunately the weather was very bad(snow and clouds). We waited all night at this same base praying for clear skies.
We did not see the lights, which is not the agency's fault of course, but after making this booking we realised it wasn't the smartest. Northern lights are hard to spot, and you have to keep searching for clear skies.
The guides are nice and the base is lovely but it is just a "wait and wish for your luck" tour.
They have the intention to show you the lights (unlike other agencies who just want to sell you tickets), and on our way back from the base since we did not catch the lights, our guide stopped the bus a little bit and checked for clear skies.
In summary if you wish for comfort and don't mind waiting it is a good choice for you, but the lights are meant to be chased.

Good morning dear guest, thanks for finding the time to write us. The Aurora Safari Base Stations is our comfortable tour for aurora: thought for those people who prefer warm shelter, toilets and relax without changing places during the night. We usually pick the base 1 hour before the departure, in order to get the one with the best weather forecast. Then, mother nature does the rest and we cannot control that, same for northern lights. There, you can notice how much the guides (driver and host) do for the guests so that they can still enjoy the experience, no matter the weather conditions :-) Have a nice day.

Our guide was very friendly and professional. The tour took us to natural/wild places with no city light where we saw beautiful auroras (we were very lucky as the auroras depend on the meteorological and solar conditions, the guide cannot guarantee that you will see them). The guide helped us to manage some of our camera settings and the photos are wonderful.

Enjoyed out time. Was abit of a long 1.5 hour couch ride out of the city but that was due to weather, had we not do this wr would not have seen any night sky and no opportunity to see the aurora.

We went to a sami tent and we paid extra for the raindeer soup.

This soup was REAL good, I had two lots as he said come on back if you want more. We got to see the Green light in the sky which was more than i was dragged along to expect to see. So got some pictures and ticked that off. Was -20 out there though so I would suggest wrapping up!

Hello! Thanks for your positive feedback. Depending on the weather forecast, we choose the best base stations for the night and even if we drive a bit our guides are always there ready to entertain you with some storytelling and "technical" info about nothern lights :) Glad you liked the soup: our hosts, too, try to do their best so that you can enjoy the whole experience more, staying warm and cosy! Thermal suits are always helpful, but having more layers of clothes is a good decision! Have a great day and we hope to see you soon here. Cecilia

First of all, there is no guaranty to see the aurora. It is a matter of luck and weatherconditioms. On the night of my trip the chances to see the lights were low and it was freezing.5 minutes before the tour was over, the lights came out - lucky me. The guides were highly professional and did everything to make us comfortable. That's what i call “customer first“ - thank you for a good and freezing trip.

Disapointed with this trip which was cancelled one day, rearranged and then no lights to be seen. Im sure if the lights had appeared all would have been forgiven, but with hindsight and talking to others, it seems some other trips are more inclined to stay and see if the lights appear, while this trip was ended slightly early as it seems the driver wanted to get back to Tromso. The coach trip itself was fine and the hosts were welcoming and friendly, the photographer was helpful and some good night pictures were taken. It seemed to me though that the trip was ended almost as soon as the skies started to clear, another half hour and who knows?

Everything was exactly as promised. No complains at all about this company and their service.
I am not giving Excellent because it is a tough evening. To stay outside for ours, with no restrooms or a cabin to recover from the cold can be very difficult.
We tried the next day to go for the lights in a base outside the city and it was much more comfortable.
Anyway, my wife and my 13 yo son faced very well the evening outside, and if they did, anyone can do it. Just be aware it can be harsh.

Hei and thank you for your feedback. Some nights is can be more challenging that others to stay outside scouting for the aurora, it has to to with temperature and wind. We are happy that you enjoyed the tour and also went to our baste station which is our pride and core aurora activity. Hope to see you on tour with us again. Have a nice summer!

The forecast wasn’t great weather-wise, however we drove for an hour and a half to a reindeer camp. The lights were out as soon as we arrived which was exciting. The stay at the base camp felt excessively long in cold conditions given the lights came out more than once, 3-4 hours there wasn’t really needed and toward the end people were still huddling in the Lavvus even when the lights were out as it was cold. The main lavvu got over smokey so we had to go to the other little one and as an asthmatic I suffered a fair bit with the smoke watching the yoiking. I’ve been fine in other campfires in Norway but this one left me feeling unwell and a lot of people on the coach were coughing when they first got on from it. The yoiking was good and the reindeer stew was the best we had whilst in Norway. It’s a super cold trip so as well as thermal layers and a jumper wear a second jumper and a third pair of socks :) we didn’t get our picture with the lights but the guide takes pics of the aurora if your camera doesn’t work and you find the page on facebook so you’ll definitely capture the moment. Overall completely recommend as if the Aurora are out you’ll see them and the guide entertains on the way there is a long drive :) (only caveats not for children under 10 or asthmatics, which seems fair I hope :))

How good to hear you got to see the Aurora with us, even several times throughout the night. We understand that staying at the camp for 3-4 hours seem like a very long time when you get to see the lights early on during the stay at the base camp. However, the lights might show ut later, be stronger, moving, more colourful, show different shapes etc, so even if you have seen them, many guests would like to see them over and over again, since they might not get any other chances. This is part of the reason why we guarantee that the tour will last minimum 5 hours, in order to cover the time of night with the best chances of seeing the lights, Of course, the longer we have to go in order to find clear sky, the longer the tour will last as well, but maximum 7 hours. However, it seems like part of the reason you would have preffered the tour to go back earlier, is because of the cold and the smoke from the fire. This is a very good feedback to us and something we will address with the host at this particular base station. The camp should not be this smokey and cold and we sincerely apologise that you suffered from this. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the many strong links to the Sami culture you find at this base camp, including the host, his yoik (chant) and the reindeer stew (Biddos). Again, thanks for your valuable feedback and for coming along on our Aurora Safari Base Station tour. Welcome back to Tromsø. Arctic regards, Oda (Tromsø Safari)
