We came to Iceland expecting beautiful sights, but weren’t sure what to expect on food. This tour was a great introduction to all the wonderful cuisine of Iceland - lamb stew, Arctic char, cod, local beer, hot dogs, and even some fusion food (langoustine tacos). Quick stops with a plate or two in each of 4-5 restaurants, followed by coffee and dessert to finish it off. Our tour was led by Thor, who was friendly, knowledgeable and offered lots of additional insights into the city and culture. This was a really fun way to start our 7 day trip, after a redeye from NYC, and it set the stage for a week full of great food to follow. Strongly recommend!!

Love took us to several places. We were FULL, happy, and learned a lot. We would NOT have experimented with some of these things ourselves, so to have a local help us know what we were eating and the traditions surrounding them was a wonderful experience.

Your tour may involved different places, but we went to Fjallkonan for Icelandic flatbread with slow cooked lamb, carrot pure, pickled red onions and pepper cream sauce - A small pancake (made from chickpeas), ligthly cured char, salmon roe, lentils and yuzu flower dressing.

Next we went to Messinn (delish!) for Arctic char baked in honey, butter and lemon with cherry tomatoes and almonds. We also had Plokkfiskur, which was loved by all on the tour. It was boiled cod with mashed with potatoes, onion, garlic, celery, lime, white wine, cream and butter

Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur was next for a lamb hot dog. It was an interesting and tasty variety of hot dog.

Íslenski Barinn gave us three Icelandic traditions, meat soup, fish Jersey, and fermented shark. Many options about these traditional foods among the tour group. :)

We finished at Café Loki for some DELICIOUS rye bread ice cream.

Thank you, Love, for a fabulous experience!!

It was an amazing experience. We discovered local food and history by the amazing tour guide Gudny. We met with other tourists as well and talked about our experience visiting the country and exchanged some tips. I highly recommend this tour to eat well and get a first introduction with Iceland.

Thor was by far the best tour guide I have ever come across. Very knowledgeable and friendly, and being a local able to convey the meaning and significance of each cultural dish. I highly recommend this tour.

Without much time in Reykjavik, we really wanted to get a "taste" of local food and culture. Having never been on a food walk before, we found Wake Reykjavik and thought our family would give it a try. And boy are we glad we did!

Our family of four met our guide Tinna at the music hall and walked to some great eateries around the downtown area. Everything went smoothly and was absolutely delicious! We even got to see and hear about some of the main attractions of the area along the way.

Tinna was the first native Icelander that we met on our trip and her insight, funny stories, and historical information was absolutely great. She kept things fun, light and enjoyable, engaging all of us on the tour, including my two teens!

The food was fantastic with a wide variety of high-end and fast-food styles, but all delicious!

We even got to eat some traditional items to make us true Vikings! (If you go, I'm sure you'll get the option to do so as well...if you dare!). We even received a follow-up email describing the foods we ate, places we went and details about the tour so we didn't have to keep notes.

A true highlight of our time in Iceland. Can't say enough great things about Tinna and the tour. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Now all I have to do is figure out how get some Icelandic lamb, Arcitc Char and Icelandic hot dog condiments imported to the US to relive the experience!

I like how they served authentic Icelandic cuisine. Each place had a room or group of tables setup for our group. Each place appreciated our business. Our guide Day is a good story teller and has one of the most famous hands in Iceland - channel 6 (I believe)sports news. Enjoyed the fun facts we learned on this adventure. Definitely would go on this journey again. Skoll!
