Overview
The Northern Lights attract visitors to Iceland from across the world, but viewings can’t be guaranteed. On this tour, await confirmation from your guide on the evening of your viewing and reschedule in case of bad weather. Head into the countryside by 4x4 vehicle and watch the skies through your telescope. With round-trip travel included, enjoy personal attention from your guide on this small-group tour—limited to 14 people.
What to Expect
Listen out for confirmation of your tour, then meet your guide during an evening pickup by 4x4 vehicle at your centrally located Reykjavik accommodation. When you get the green light, head to your countryside viewing spot to begin your Northern Lights adventure. If the cloud cover is too thick or weather conditions aren’t right, you can simply reschedule.

With your guide monitoring conditions, head to the best spots away from the bright lights of Reykjavik for the best chance of admiring the Northern Lights. As you wait, gaze up at the stars through the high-powered telescope provided as your guide highlights constellations and planets such as Jupiter, the moon, and the Orion nebula.

With good planning and a little luck, watch the Northern Lights dancing across the evening skies. Listen as your guide sheds light on this amazing natural lightshow, and pose for a photograph as Aurora Borealis dazzles behind you.

Relax and soak up the scenery with a hot chocolate and a pastry, then—around midnight—return in comfort to your Reykjavik hotel.

Please note: The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings can never be guaranteed.

A model of how these tours should be done

These guys are fantastic. Even though we didn't get to see the Lights, Ragnar could not have tried harder to find them, and we still saw some amazing sights and, thanks to Ragnar, have the photographs to prove it. Our little boy left his hat...More

Awesome tour guides, and saw Aurora on our 1st night

We had two vans of people and went to the Thingvellir National Park area. The guides were nice, and provided excellent hot chocolate that they made themselves and a bread like pastry later in the evening. One of the guys kept everyone motivated, and moving...More

Great guide - found us a great location

While I know they have nothing to do with whether the Northen Lights are visible or not, part of me does believe Throstur (our guide) is truly a Northen Light’s Whisperer, as stated on his cars. He had full confidence we would see something that...More
