The Golden Circle is a must for anyone visiting Reykjavik, but a DIY trip means going guideless and navigating public buses or a rental car. This tour lets you focus on the scenery without transport or parking worries, and provides full lowdowns on the sights of Gullfoss, Thingvellir, and Geysir. A stop at Kerid crater lake, which isn't included on some similar tours, and hotel and port pickup and drop-off are included.
What to Expect
After pickup from your central Reykjavik hotel or Reykjavik cruise port, settle into your comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle with a guide and travel into Iceland’s countryside to see the Golden Circle sights.

First up is the Geysir geothermal area, an expanse of bubbling pools, vents, and geysers. Explore here and see the most active hot spring, Strokkur, steaming water 98 feet (30 meters) into the air every eight minutes.

Continue to Gullfoss, whose name means 'Golden Falls,’ and take in this stunning, tiered waterfall as it plunges 105 feet (32 meters) into the Hvita River.

From here, visit the UNESCO-listed Thingvellir National Park, home to a rift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Learn how the plates are slowly moving apart, and see their exposed ridges.

After a final stop to see the near-neon blue Kerid crater lake, your tour concludes at the original departure point.

Very Good Introduction to Iceland
