Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A bit overpriced ! Generally, a nice and joyful place for children. Mostly appreciated, I suppose, by those children who have read the related children books - the chance is quite big though! Otherwise nice scenery and a short train tour, nothing spectacular, in a global perspective. A really nice book store! There's no book you can't find there! A cafe-restaurant with great views though a relatively small terass for the crowded days and, no place, in the restaurant itself for child activities, so that parents can take a cup of coffee or tea without taking their eyes from their children! Furthermore there's a too small stroller parking-site since you can't take the stroller with you inside the museum but without any locking devices. Pity that it's impossible for the accompanying parents to take their exhausted and now-sleeping-child inside the cafeteria for a moment of rest!

This museum is really meant only for small kids. The story train is incredible, however, it only takes 10 minutes. And that’s really about all there is to do there. For nearly 60 euros I would have expected a little more. The bookshop was nice, but nothing special. I am glad we saw it, but I would never go back here again. I really am disappointed by how little there was to actually do.

Overall we spent less than an hour here and that includes time on the terrace for a coffee.

It is expensive literally. It is ok for whoever lives around the area and makes an annual ticket.. but for the visitors or tourist is definately too expensive.
The thing which is the main attraction is the Train wagon. This was very carefully made and is top the Kids. Actually my son got a little scared at some point (he was 2 years when we went).
The blocks room is a total Chaos... i mean some kids lobe building and others like demolishing. Ours likes demolishing so after he demolished every built in the room i had to pull him out before arguing with all the parents...
the other rooms are not the very best at all beside the top one where there is the house and all.
We spent a good 3 hours i think. The kid enjoyed it and it was ok.

I had read the reviews of this museum saying that it was more geared towards younger children, but with a morning to fill before visiting Gronalund I decided to take my nine year old along. This was a mistake. The museum is located in a lovely area of Stockholm with great views out over the river, but unless your children are about six or younger a trip to Junibacken is a waste. Firstly it is very expensive, particularly for adults who are really only going to accompany their children - there is very little of interest for them. The story train ride at the start is fine, although the focus on the story towards the end based around two boys dying, fighting a battle and then completing suicide to get back to heaven is an odd, sad choice for a children’s exhibit. I am not familiar with the Swedish stories this ride is based on though. After the story train all there is left is two large rooms which are essentially children’s playgrounds, the extensive cafeteria and a small theatre where they do story readings (all in Swedish) and small plays I believe. Overall the experience reminded me of story time at the local library, for four times the price! Definitely avoid unless your kids are still in a stroller or not much older.

It was raining when we went there and I'm glad we spent the morning there as it was indoors. Really good for kids and the story train was really nice. My kids absolutely loved the place even though they hd no clue who Pippi was before.

Junibacken is a great place for kids with lots to do themed around the stories of Astrid Lindgren and other children’s authors. The train is what you pay for, but the other areas including the shop and the other rooms at great too.

Took my 5 year old and her 4 and 3 year old cousins to Junibacken and absolutely loved it. You got instantly sucked into a world of beloved fairytales and the admission ticket pruce did not make you angry nor did the cafeteria prices. The kids spent 6hours playing and we finished off with the fairytale train which is simply magically delightful. Simply a must visit attraction when visiting Stockholm with children.

Really scary (and dark) train ride that also goes up very high in the air. If a kid panic its super easy he or she fall down, like from roof-hight, super dangerouse. You sit without protection with just a metal rod to keep the kids from falling down. No warning and dark ride so if you go on it its no way to jump off. Again if the kids panic they have to sit in the dark scary light for another 12-15 min. Not recomended.

Also it seemed like all Stockholms sick kids who were home from preeachool/school went just there. Everyone was coughing badly or super snotty.

Quite expensive tickets. I recomend to buy a ticket to Skansen instead.

I do love Astrid Lindgren and it was fun to play there but every kid there seemed sick.

We were warned by other reviews and should have listened. Exuberant prices for the adults. Please listen and only enter with one adult. Small, old, and maybe worth 2 hours of your time. If you have nostalgic memories go by yourself and enjoy. But don't put unnecessary strain on your wallet for this.

Overall, this is a well laid out play zone for younger kids. Our 9 yr old was on the cusp of being too old for all of the activities.

Ages 2-7 seems to be the target age here. If you have kids at age, they will love it.
