Join this 5-hour morning trip with minivan along the picturesque south Attica coastal road and visit to the 5th century BCE temple of Poseidon departing at 9:30am. Maximum group size of 11 persons.

Unless you hire a car, visiting Cape Sounion from Athens independently means a relatively long bus journey, with multiple stops. This half-day, small-group tour provides an easy alternative, with air-conditioned minivan travel, guided commentary on the cape’s Temple of Poseidon, and ample time to admire the ruins and Aegean views. A choice of departures allows for a sunset visit, plus there’s a beach break en route as a bonus.
What to Expect
Select your preferred departure on booking and, after pickup from your central Athens hotel, set off along the Athens Riviera by air-conditioned minivan.

Pass through Athens’ suburbs of Glyfada and Vouliagmeni, and admire the Saronic Gulf, seaside resorts, and villages as you follow the coastal roads east.

During your outward or return journey (depending on selected departure), take a break beside the sea. Perhaps enjoy a light meal or drinks (own expense) or lounge or swim at a beach. If you plan to swim, bring your swimming gear.

On arrival, explore the fifth-century Temple of Poseidon perched on the headland. Listen as your guide narrates its history, including how it was dedicated to the god of the sea, Poseidon, and served as a beacon for mariners. (Entry to the Temple of Poseidon is at your own expense.)

Soak in the sunset over the Aegean (depending on selected departure), and take photos of the panoramas before your tour concludes with a hotel drop-off.

This is a well priced tour, good value for the money. Went on November 12th, was too cold to swim, so just stopped at a heated spring to see it from above, and then stopped at a chapel on the side of a mountain on...More

Lots of driving

I went with G.O Tours....they were Ok. A little disorganized with the hotel pick ups. 11/2 hours drive each way, and an hour at the temple. A nice drive, but a long drive. The temple was great and worthy of a visit.

The Temple of Poseidon was the first thing that ancient sailors saw as they were sailing to Greece. You must see this lovely monument, and take the sunset tour if you can -- it's amazing! We were on a very small tour (11 people in...More

Perfect size tour

This affordable tour is very pleasant. There are only 11 seats in the van, so it’s a nice small group. We actually got to chatting with everyone, which made it even more fun! The monument is a must see, and this is a great way...More

Half Day Tour to Cape Sounion

Our driver, Spiros is a good driver, pleasant and very knowledgeable of the history. Gorgeous coastline of the Attica Riviera on the way to the Southern tip of Attica region. I recommend this tour.
