It can be hard to navigate Athens’ curving streets and layers of history on your own. On this walking tour, learn about the city with a guide. You’ll explore the old town of Plaka and the island architecture of Anafiotika, and view the Acropolis from Mars Hill. An included picnic with wine, while you look out on Athens from Philopappou Hill, means you can pack light for a hassle-free day.

What to Expect
Meet your guide for your 3.5-hour walking tour at the Benaki Museum and head out to explore Athens. Walk through the mazelike streets of Plaka, Athens’ old town, and notice the Byzantine churches and tavernas that dot the area. Imagine you’re on an island as you admire the whitewashed buildings in the Anafiotika neighborhood.

Stroll to the Rock of Ares on Mars Hill and take in the sight of the Acropolis. Make your way to Philopappou Hill, where you’ll enjoy a picnic and a glass of wine as you gaze out at the city. Your walk will end in front of the Benaki Museum.

Excellent way to start our trip

My wife and I took this tour with Miss Daphne on our first night in Athens. Not only did she give an excellent tour, but because it was a small group she provided insights on being a native Athenian.

We walked pretty consistently for a couple hours. Our tour was just the two of us so we could stop as frequently or seldom as we wanted. The gentleman leading the tour is not young, so it was a nice easy pace. We did stop... More
