About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- davidbI2563UU0 contributionsExcellent Belem/Jeronimos Monastery tourOur tour leader Andriy Voyevoda was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and very clear in his explanations. Also was very pleasant and concerned about our safety. Highly recommend a tour with him.Written 8 December 2024
- cncallahan0 contributionsA Fascinating and Insightful Tour of Belém and Jerónimos Monastery! The Belém and Jerónimos Monastery Guided Small Group Walking Tour was an absolutely amazing experience! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and brought the history of Lisbon’s most iconic landmarks to life. From the moment we started the tour, it was clear that our guide was passionate about the rich history and cultural significance of Belém and its monuments. Visiting the stunning Jerónimos Monastery was a highlight – the architecture is breathtaking, and our guide shared fascinating insights about its history and the famous explorers associated with the site. The stories behind the monastery and nearby attractions, including the Belém Tower and Monument to the Discoveries, made the whole experience much more meaningful. The small group size made the tour feel personal and allowed for a more interactive experience. We had plenty of time to ask questions, and our guide’s enthusiasm made the entire tour enjoyable and educational. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lisbon – it’s a great way to explore the historical heart of the city with an expert guide who can provide context that you won’t get from just visiting the sites on your own.Written 30 November 2024

My tour guide, Andriy, was knowledgeable, engaging, and shared fascinating insights into the rich history of Belem and the stunning Jeronimos Monastery. - Cruiser7405460 contributionsA must for anyone interested in Lisbon’s historyThe tour was super! Rui, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the topic, even tracing the roots of slavery to the Roman era. His enthusiasm about the subject was palpable and his style is open and engaging. He even recommended a great Mozambican restaurant (Roda Vive). I’d heartily recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lisbon who’s curious about Portugal’s involvement in the trans-Atlantic space trade.Written 21 November 2024
- sarahs430 contributionsAmazing tour! Tour guide Andriy was superb!Excellent! Andriy was our guide. What a clever young man and so knowledgeable. This is our first ever visit to Portugal and it was our first full day! The tour was superb ! He was so thoughtful- even telling us to watch our step, incase of trip hazards and keeping us safe when crossing roads. He knew the answer to everything we asked and being in a small group was super and the other 6 people were very sweet and we chatted away over a coffee and were given a traditional custard tart- which was all part of the experience. He stopped and took pics of all of us whenever we wanted and he knows how to take a great photo too! Thoroughly recommend this tour and we feel as if we know a great many things now about Portugal, Lisbon and even European and World History having spent 3 hours with Andriy! Brilliant job! Thank you! We will really remember it!Written 21 November 2024
- patpaddy0 contributionsThe Slave Trade Historical Tour: Our guide Rui Fernandes was absolutely excellent. We took the Slave Trade Historical Tour, and it was both enlightening and deeply moving, shedding light on Portugal's dark history of the slave trade. Naturally, it was also very troubling and saddening to learn about this painful chapter in history. We discovered the tour through an encounter my friend had at the airport with an African American traveler. I'm Irish and went with my friend, who is of Somali heritage. At first, we were a bit concerned the tour might sensationalize the topic of slavery, but our guide, Rui Fernandes, far exceeded our expectations. Rui's deep understanding and passion for the history of Portugal and its involvement in the slave trade were evident from the start. This is a serious and difficult subject, but Rui approached it with professionalism, patiently answering all of our questions. His knowledge was extraordinary, and his engaging storytelling kept us riveted for the entire three hours. Though three hours is a long time to walk and stand, we had a break and the route wasn't too strenuous. I’d recommend wearing comfortable shoes and bringing tissues, as the experience can be emotional.Written 18 November 2024
- KAREN M0 contributionsSpectacularMy guide, Rui, was punctual and very informative. I especially liked that he had visual aids to help with his presentation. I did multiple tours this trip, and this walking tour was by far my favorite!Written 15 November 2024

- AngStepe0 contributionsExceptional small group tourAbsolutely wonderful tour with Andriy of Lisbon Tours. We received clear communication about how to purchase tickets to the monastery. He was prompt on the date of the tour. He was pleasant, professional and very knowledgeable about Portuguese history. Having a small group made this experience much more enjoyable. It was easy to get into and move around the monastery. We highly recommend this tour.Written 2 November 2024

- BobA1270 contributionsVery nice tour.Very nice tour. We were scheduled for a morning tour and the operator contacted us asking if we would like to reschedule to the afternoon based on the weather forecast. Glad we did. The guide was knowledgeable and tailored the tour based on our group's wants. He added a coffee break in at the groups request where we set and had a great visit learning about daily life for people in Lisbon. I recommend this tour.Written 15 October 2024

- O4655ZJsaraht0 contributionsDon’t hesitate to book!My husband and I booked this tour last minute (maybe 2 weeks out?) and we are so glad we did! This tour was one of our favorite experiences of our time in Lisbon. You definitely don’t want to visit the monastery on your own due to the entry wait time plus you’d miss out on all the info that makes visiting worthwhile. A guided tour of the monastery and Belem with Andriy is highly underrated!Written 21 September 2024

We had a super nice afternoon with Rui who showed us all kinds of interesting street art and explained the background stories around it. He was very well informed. This was a great opportunity to get to know the different areas of the city. It was well organized and we could ask any question we wanted.

We had an amazing experience learning so much about the street art in Lisbon with Rui. He has a lot of knowledge and made it also fun for my 9 yo daughter. He showed and explained to us so much spots that we would not have seen or understood without Rui. I strongly recommend it. It is a fun and pleasant tour to do, even with kids.

My husband and I had a very enjoyable half day tour with Rui to explore some of the street art in Lisbon. We lucked out and ended up with a personal tour since the other folks cancelled last minute. Rui was very well educated on not just the history of Lisbon, but also the background of the various street artists we were able to experience. Also allowed us to go into neighborhoods we would not have done on our own. Would definitely do another tour with My Lisbon Tours again, especially with Rui.

One of the highlights of our Lisbon vacation! Excellent communication from the tour organizer, including a picture of the meeting location and google map coordinates. The tour was just the two of us with guide Cheila. She was very personable and knowledgeable. Great at answering our questions and adapting the tour to our needs. This is a 3+ hour walking tour, so wear comfortable shoes and bring water and sunscreen in summer months. If you choose to walk to the meeting point (as opposed to using Uber, which is a great option in Lisbon!) be aware that it is uphill from almost anywhere. We kind of wore ourselves out getting there... and then had a 3+ hour walking tour on cobblestone streets and sidewalks! The tour is designed to give an overview of the history of Lisbon and explores the Graca and Alfama areas of the city. We viewed street art and visited the Thieves Market (Tuesday and Saturday) and a couple of Cathedrals. Well put together and executed! Thanks Cheila!

Our street art tour of Lisbon was one of the BEST experiences we had while exploring Portugal. Our guide, Rui, was fantastic - extremely knowledgeable, approachable and just a genuine guy. The tour itself is a great value - soak up picturesque sights from the tops of some of Lisbon’s miraduoros and take in the city’s vibrant street art scene. Sadly, we did the tour on our last day in Lisbon - otherwise, we would have happily signed up for some other My Lisbon Tours.
We were fortunate to have Rui to ourselves for the tour - allowing us a to have a more personalized tour. The tour was 4 hours and a fair amount of walking. Rui frequently checked in with us, making sure the pace alright, giving us an overview of what to expect next, and seeing if we needed any breaks. We loved getting to see the different neighborhoods, hearing about their history and seeing the culture first hand.
Our favorite highlight of the tour was the side trip to a parking garage with amazing art - something we never would have found ourselves. We can’t recommend My Lisbon Tours enough - book a tour with Rui - you won’t regret it and will make your stay in Lisbon a memorable one!

A very interesting tour for streetart lovers but also for people who has nothing to do with art at all. The tour makes Lissabons street art visible and even more closer. With a guide who has turned his passion into a career, the guided tour will be a study of Lisbon's history, its artists and their motives to tell. What made the tour so special was our guide Rui. A passionate street art lover who hand-selects the tours and gives us a wonderful time full of impressions and experiences. You do not only look at painted walls with him, but you also look behind the identities and work out piece by piece your own picture of the street art culture in Lisbon. We can recommend this tour to everybody who wants to have a great time enjoying Lisbon.

A week was not enough and I will definitely come back because the tour with Rui makes you fall in love with Lisbon even more! We walked around and admired some street art and graffiti... Then walked into Alfama district and tasted Ginjihna! It might have been a cloudy day, but Lisbon is beautiful regardless, so we also went to some viewpoints and they did not disappoint!
Rui is an excellent guide, he’s knowledgeable and friendly! Thanks again Rui! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
