About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- charlescZ9814MD0 contributionsGood but not perfectWe did two bus tours in one day and a river cruise tour the next. The tour routes were all very good; but the Belem tour, which was our first one, really disappointed us because the audio narration quit working about a third of the way through and didn’t restart until shortly before the tour ended. And this was the more historical tour, which made it more important to me! Yellow Bus really should know how to make it work by now! Everything else went smoothly and we enjoyed the experience; however, they should really provide better instructions for the embarkation point for the boat tour. The dock is part of a pretty big complex and no directions, instructions or map of where to go were provided. In a foreign country where not everyone is proficient in English, this was unduly stressful. Signage at the dock was nonexistent. I think the Yellow Bus management should imagine sending their own grandparents to accomplish the task. Many of us seniors take these tours in order to reduce the stress of travel. Getting to the starting point should not be a challengeWritten 17 March 2024
- VeganFoodPenguin0 contributionsToo much music not enough informationThe audio kept cutting out and we missed vital parts of the commentary. It was difficult to find the first bus stop without a map. Once we were able to pick one up on the bus it was better. Great way to cover a lot of the city!Written 7 March 2024

- HPTR550 contributionsGood website, great price. We used The Yellow Bus Tours website to buy our tickets for The Benfica Stadium and Museum Tour. Very good website and the price was discounted so we saved money versus using the Benfica FC website. Smooth easy entry to the tour and we got a free scarf as part of our ticket price.Written 6 March 2024
- X6767HAkevinm0 contributionsEnhance your Lisbon visitI am a 72-year-old retired man. I love traveling, and this was my very first trip to Portugal. I traveled by myself, and wanted to learn a great deal about Lisbon and other areas in a practical way. The yellow bus tourist were fantastic. There are several roots, and I took them all, and the river cruise. The price is amazing! You get to go all over the city and the river. I was very impressed at how polite the drivers were. They slowed to let pedestrians in, let other traffic in, and never did they seem to be upset about much of anything. The narration provided with the headsets taught me a lot about this wonderful city. In my estimation, the yellow bus tours are an absolute bargain, and a must do!Written 1 March 2024
- Amanda G0 contributionsWe preferred the tuk tuksThe hop on hop off bus was lovely and we were able to see a lot of the sites. The tram was plagued with issues from Cara blocking the rails to trees down. The boat trip was also difficult and the people who worked inside the boat station gave us wrong information and tried to send us away stating the weather was poor, it wasn't until we saw the boat approaching and we asked the woman letting passengers off, that we learned that the man inside had no idea what he was talking about. Luckily we waited around, we saw several other families leave because of that man. Based on the price, if I could go back, I would have just used my money for a tuk tuk tour and saved some money. Our tuk tuk tour guide was more engaging than the headphones on the bus, and the kids had more fun in the tuk tuk.Written 16 February 2024
- SamantaB20110 contributionsTop organisation and saw everything I wanted. All three tours (two ways yellow bus, and tram) were well organised, in time and it was the best way to see and visit the city with children, did a really good choice, I suggest it!!!!Written 15 February 2024
- Tracy E0 contributionsGood serviceGood service. Enjoyed the tour information. Would have liked less music on the bus & on the narration. Staff at pick up point could have been less sullen. But it didn’t stop my enjoyment.Written 14 February 2024
- Alexandr Z0 contributionsGreat sightseeing. All good. Went to the bus stop, which was near the place I stayed in the center of Lisbon. Waited for 15 minutes and hopped on. I enjoyed Portuguese music during the sightseeing. The route was Belem. The lift is included.Written 5 February 2024
- Patricia L0 contributionsA Disappointing RideThe bus merely meanders through different streets featuring important buildings and sites along with the audio guide which i feel makes the whole experience rather cold and sterile. The bus schedule can be quite erratic and we had to wait for more than 30 minutes at one location at the Santa Maria Museum in Lisbon. For the price i had paid, i think it’s not worth the experience.Written 28 January 2024
- 259teresah0 contributionsBlue bus tour worth it.Took the Belém and Modern Lisbon tour bus over two day. Blue bus tour was exceptional. We took that twice with first time to see sights and second as a hop on hop off If on the upper deck beware of over-hanging tree branches. Disappointed that River tour was only available on Wednesdays and Sundays ( as informed by agent). This is not listed on brochure and would have been helpful to know in planning. Feel that if all advertised tours not available then different prices should apply.Written 27 January 2024
- Wendysam260 contributionsExpensiveExpensive and although the trip was interesting, it was not worth the money and overall disappointing. Did not get off the bus.Written 25 January 2024
- Z473AXsheilak0 contributionsLong and boring. Just get a tram ticket.Red line bus was ok and took around 50 minutes. The blue line tour took almost 2 hours and you mainly see high rise apartment blocks until you get to Belem. Don't bother at all. Long and boring. The tram part you are told that you have to embark at a certain point and that you can't get off once on. So not true. So my advice is to just buy a tram ticket and you can hop on hop off the 28 and 12 tram as often as you want. Fantastic.Written 22 January 2024

Rambling through the small windings streets on a tram is amazing and the views and the experience is amazing and the atmosphere is incredible. The staff are so good in every aspect of the city tour.Written 6 January 2024

I ignored all of the 1-star reviews, I wish I didn't! Please don't do what I did.
I haven't written a trip advisor review in at least 5 years but had to say this.
I bought tickets for 6 of us when we visited Lisbon on a cruise, the bus tour only visited the cruise port every 2 hours but we thought that would be okay. We waited and waited and stood in the right place.
We were tracking the bus on our phones when it went RIGHT PAST US. We thought maybe the bus would turn around and come back, but it never did. The app updated to show that it had passed our port and was onto the next one.
I'm now trying to fight the company for a refund for 6 of us. They aren't replying to my emails and I've wasted a LOT of time and money here.
Please don't make this mistake. Lisbon Yellow Bus if you're reading, please give me my money back!

We really enjoyed the yellow bus. We got the 48hr ticket and that included three routes and free trams, elevators and funiculars. Brilliant value. We found the buses reasonably clean. On one of the buses the commentary did not work on one of the sockets. The drivers are a bit miserable. But otherwise, we never had to wait for more than 20 minutes for the bus and found the routes interesting (albeit, a bit cold up deck!).

Really enjoyed the opportunity to book this tour - provided a great way to see the entire city. Both the blue and purple routes were very informative. The blue tour was the old part of the city and the purple was the modern area of the city. We took both tours to get a good idea of the city and then as we had a 48 hour pass the next day we concentrated on places we want to visit longer - like Belém district and the Jorges castle.

Waiting 25 mins in full sun. Bus supposed to leave at 1pm on 9th July 2022. They say their ticket machine is not working but electronic tickets cannot be used on this service. Everyone has physical tickets but they won't go and are telling us to wait 45 mins for the next bus. In reality, it seems like they have taken a bus out of service to save money.

Rude, Unprofessional, and worst experience of trip. These people were dismissive, indifferent and kept telling me I didn’t have a ticket although I showed them the ticket. The woman told me that tickets needed to be printed which makes no sense when you can buy online and I was showing her the ticket on my phone and the man just said oh well and left. There is no way I would recommend anyone spending money with a company like this who would take your money but not actually provide services. Pick any other company but this one.

Having used the service we would not recommend it. The tours run in one direction so if you want to use the blue line for only a few stops you have to repeat the entire trip from your initial starting point each time. Not very flexible. The last pickups of the day end around supper hour so don’t plan to use it after staying out any distance from your accommodation to enjoy an evening meal.
The stops are not called out so you have to guess where you are before signalling you would like to disembark. The blue line runs approximately every 30 minutes so if you do disembark your choices for continuing the tour are limited. Miss a bus because it arrives a bit early, another 30 minute wait.
Some stops are a great distance apart and if you choose to walk to the next one, good luck finding some small yellow placards indicating a stop. Unsure why they cannot make safe stops in a few more of the city bus stands?
We were less than 100 yards from a posted stop on a side street with little traffic near the port and signalled to the driver. She pointed behind her bus as she passing. Disappointing.
Investigate your alternatives. Maybe good for a single day trip once round the city. Just stay on the bus.

Friendly driver helped us choose best ticket so made us of it on the tram ( not tram 28 as it was so busy and the queue was ridiculous) and the funicular as well as the old and modern tour. Have used other sight seeing buses before and this was not as good in terms of information. When we got on the old bus tour the commentary did not work for a while and then was hit and miss! Good way to get around but not overly informative.

We paid for a 48 hr pass and then waited at a bus stop for over an hour fir the first yellow bus to arrive. It was crammed and there were no seats at all until some people got off.
Then when we eventually had seats the commentary was not in sync with where we were. We dare not get off as in hop on and off because we did not want to risk being stranded waiting an age for another bus. So we did the full tour which took nearly 2 hours due to traffic.
Second day we went back thinking surely it must be better going the other way (2 routes to choose from) this was even worse, we were shown a homeless tent area, the motorway , some Derelict buildings before a real treat… the airport! I kid you not!
This tour is a complete joke, or it would be if I’d not really wanted to see Lisbon … please take my advice and find yourself a tuktuk instead , there were lots around and I’m sure you’d have a much better time xx

Whatever you do, do not use yellow bus. On multiple occasions we had to sit on a bus for 40-50 minutes either on the top in the sun, or on the bottom without A/C. During our last ride, the driver stopped at a stop and told us we had to get off the bus because the audio wasn’t working and another bus would come pick us up. We ended up walking the rest of the day because the tour was so atrocious, and did not match up with their promised timeline nor the “live timetables” they have online. I would recommend the Lisbon or Portugal sightseeing, as they were at each of the stops we were waiting at twice to three as many times as the yellow bus arrived.

Sept 2023 • Friends
The bus tours were very nice. Would have appreciated another stop closer to the major train station down by the river in Lisbon. Most hop-on-hop-off bus companies in other cities always have a stop by the major train stations. Luckily for our tour on the second day, we were able to use our 48 hour yellow bus pass to take a funicular up the steep hills to get to the starting point of the tour.
There were no stops on the Tram ride, so be prepared that you will be on the tram for the entire tour, and end up back where you started. We did not pick up on that until we were on the tram itself.

A lot longer than advertised, typically 50% more - and you will be bored rigid because the bus takes you nowhere near most of the things you will really want to see.
You'd be much better strolling round the central sights and streets, or taking trams to the outlying areas such as Belem.

Yes it would. They count by hours and not days. So yes, according to your question the ticket expires after 48 hours and not after two days.
