- V8196FWjenw0 contributionsPerfect for a taste of the AlpsWith very little time to see all we could, this day trip made it easy to get out for some hiking and exploration. The bus was comfortable and travel time was comparable to taking a train. Note - there is no bathroom on the bus and no eating/drinking is permitted on the bus. Our guides included Lars, Manuel and driver, Luis. All were super helpful and great! Commentary on the bus ride was interesting yet not so imposing that you couldn't comfortably take a nap if you wanted. I noted others commenting on challenges with finding bus pickup areas. I dropped pin locations on my google maps at any needed stop so we could easily pull the best walking route to be back where we needed to be on time. Our group had no issues with everyone returning to the bus on time. We did like having the flexibility to determine how much time to spend in Grindelwald and what train we wanted to jump on to get back to the bus in Interlaken. We do wish we had more free time overall but remember its just a day trip to give you a taste of the Alps. We had enough time to head to the First Cliff walk (where you'll find a bathroom) and then we walked to Bachalpsee (about 40+ min each way). Many restaurants close between lunch and dinner, so by the time we were done our hike and back down in town we were limited to restaurants with burgers/pizza/fries which were a hard pass for us. In retrospect we would have packed a lunch before boarding the bus and enjoyed a picnic by Bachalpsee. We do wish this trip did not have the initial 1 hour stop in Interlaken. It's too short of a stop to do much of anything other than grab a coffee and quick walk and it's an hour that could be added to your free time in Grindelwald. Typically we are not Tour takers but this one was a nice fit into our single available day and we enjoyed scouting a bit for future longer trips. Staff was great and bus was clean and comfortable.Written 6 September 2024

- amandapF4257UJ0 contributionsOverall goodOverall tour was good. Bus tour was a little boring. Boat cruise and the Lindt Chocolate factory were the highlights. We didn’t like that the tour didn’t end at the meeting point. You were basically left on your own to figure out how to get back. Thankfully our tour guide Maryann was very gracious and took a group of us via public transport back to near the starting point.Written 5 September 2024

- 372stephanied0 contributionsGreat day on top of the world!Great excursion for the day! It went so fast despite the 10+ hour day. Tour guide was funny and friendly. Lecerne was a cute little city and although we had a cloudy day up to Pilatus, we were up there long enough for the clouds to come and go and go some great views.Written 5 September 2024
- 720nasirm0 contributionsWorth Every PennyWe had an amazing time and it was worth every penny. If you are traveling for the first time, if you are with kids or if you dont have time to go to each and every town then this trip is for you. The bus ride to the mountains, in itself, is amazing, then you stop in Interlaken and move on. You get to experience the cable car and take 3 train rides including very famed cogwheel train. If you take individual rides and tickets for everything its going to be super expensive so this tour is very economical. You get to see all the famous places in one go. Definitely recommended.Written 4 September 2024
- 999purvit0 contributionsThere are better optionsThe trip was good but they skip a beautiful place called Lucern. The guide Berny was arrogant and was talking too much unnecessary stuff and non stop which kills the mood. At the top all other guides were with their group but this lady was no where to found. There’s a mandarin speaker who was very helpful but I think she wasn’t allowed to talk.Written 4 September 2024
- Roam176033593690 contributionsToo briefStarted with a bus tour around Zurich. To me, it was too brief. Not enough in-deoth explanation. The areas the tour took us for photo were not that great. The walking tour was too short and did not really explore much of Zurich's highlights and landmarks. The Lindt tour was fine. Overall, wished i could learn more about the city from this tourWritten 3 September 2024

- LynneW3000 contributionsTen out ten!Highly recommend the tour if time poor. The tour provides a taste of the Swiss mountains! The views were amazing & took many photos! We chose to do the chairlift to First Mtn at Grindelwald. The ride provides many opportunities to take views & admire the amazing scenery. Plus the train ride offers further views. The guide, Maria was amazing!Written 31 August 2024
- Hu200 contributionsLong, not much there if you don’t do the Mt Titlis tourNot worth the whole day and price! It’s too far of a trip from Zurich to be worth it. I would take the trains and skip Engelberg unless you are doing the toboggan and Mt Titlis but you can do that on your own and ride the train. Get a Swiss Pass. The tour guide talked loudly and almost the entire trip. Repeated himself over and over. The monastery is not an indoor tour and just the grounds but was beautiful! If you take the funicular there is a short walk into the countryside and comes to a restaurant with beautiful views. Overall not worth the day. If you are staying closer, it’s a nice leisurely dayWritten 31 August 2024

The entire Adventure package is ridiculous. We waited in the sun for 3hrs to ride the first 60 second zip line. Then another 1 1/2hr for the second 60 second glider zip line. Then another 1hr waiting for the first mountain carts, which to be fair, we’re a fun 20min to the Trottibikes but not worth the time waited in line. Finally we reached the Trottibikes and waited another 45min to get those for the 15min ride to the bottom. What would fix this? Reservations with set times, also, not letting people pay in line which slows everything down as well. Honestly, too much waiting for too little reward.

Dear Seaside36146317940,
Thank you very much for writing this review about your experience on our Grindelwald First tour. We are very sorry to hear that the long waiting lines hindered you from fully enjoying the destination.
While we completely understand how waiting in queues for extended periods can be frustrating, we would like to highlight that only the cable car and the First Cliff Walk are included in our tour. This is clearly stated in the tour description in Viator, that all adventure activities are optional, and thus excluded from the tour rate. Mr First is a very popular destination, especially with all the activities available at the top which attracts not only tourists but also locals and even more in peak times.
Even if we had purchased the tickets in advance, all guests would still have to queue with the rest of the visitors as Mt First doesn’t provide any time slots. This is the reason why we intentionally decided to exclude the activities, as our guests would be disappointed if they miss any activity due to the long waiting queues. Nevertheless, Mt First is a paradise area to hike, not only to the picturesque Bachalpsee Lake but also to descend down the mountain or simply walk around the summit and enjoy a delicious meal while enjoying the breathtaking views.
We hope that the views from the summit of the Swiss Alps and the visit to Interlaken were worth visiting and wish you a wonderful remaining time in Switzerland.
Best regards,
Ambika from Best of Switzerland Tours

Even though going up to top at Grindelwald is spectacular and great, this tour is really a self guided tour. We were dropped off at Interlaken to walk around on our own then dropped off at Grindelwald again to walk around on our own and go up the mountain. The tour guide provided only instructions on how to take the train from Grindelwald back to Interlaken and find the bus on our owned. Not much guides was provided for the tour.

Dear Edward,
Thank you very much for sharing your experience with our partly guided tour to Grindelwald & Interlaken.
We are sorry to hear that our tour didn’t live up to your expectations. We always try to communicate the details of our tour in the best possible way to avoid disappointments. As officially stated in the tour description in Viator, our guests are accompanied from Zurich/Lucerne to Grindelwald and then from Interlaken back to the departure point. The time in between is available for our guests to discover the villages at their own pace. Compared to our fully guided tours, this tour is catered to more independent travelers that enjoy exploring new destinations with activities of their individual choice.
Both towns are very popular destinations with many activities and places to visit. Our guests receive a comprehensive information booklet with upgrade options as well as recommendations of sights and activities. Nevertheless, our tour guides have the task to remain approachable in case of any occurring questions regarding the area. We are sorry if your tour guides were not very supportive in this sense and will certainly forward this email to them to avoid this kind of incidents in the future.
We are glad that you did enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Bernese Oberland and look forward to welcoming you on tour on your next visit to our wonderful country.
Kind regards,
Ambika from Best of Switzerland Tours

This could have been a great tour… but, they didn’t explain you should pre buy your tickets for the top of the mountain if you want to do anything. I got to the top and everything was sold out or a two hour wait. So I was not able to do any of the attractions.
They guides were so nice!
But pre buy your tickets 😊

Dear Tiff-min-73,
Thank you very much for participating in our Grindelwald First tour and taking the time to write this feedback.
We are surprised to read that you did not receive any explanation of the tickets and the activities as we constantly work to make sure that all pertinent information is explicitly mentioned.
Mount First is a very popular destination, and especially during summertime, it can get very crowded. Some activities may be sold out when our group arrives. Nevertheless, booking it in advance doesn’t help to avoid the waiting line as they don’t provide time slots and all guests must queue together. Our guests would be disappointed if they prebooked tickets and in the end, they can’t participate due to the long waiting queues.
This is well described in the tour description in Viator, that only the cable cars, Cliff Walk and train ticket are included in our rate. This information is given as well in the leaflet that guests receive upon check-in.
We hope that you still enjoyed the breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps and are happy to hear that you were happy with the service provided by your tour guides.
Best regards,
Magdalena from Best of Switzerland Tours

Aug 2018 • Friends
we had the BEST day at Grindelwald!! The only complaints I have are that it took us 4hrs to get there from Zurich which wasted a lot of the morning. We had to stop in Lucerne to pick up people and then a break stop to get food. We left Zurich at 8am and got to the start of the cable car by noon. I would rather rent a car and drive ourselves there so you can spend the day. By the time we got to the cable cars we only had 4hrs to spend there. I would have loved to stay a few more hours. we couldn't do the clif walk because of the weather but we did everything else The line for the zip line was 45min, not bad at all. Totally worth it. my fav part was the mountain carts driving down. The scooters were a little hard to balance on and you have to go slow so you dont fall or get hurt. They also dont tell you that when they give you the voucher for the cable car that is your tix for all the activities and you had to line up with eveyrone else who was buying tix to redeem the voucher which was over 30min wait. The tour company should have just given us the actual tix instead of a voucher so we didn't have to line up so long to redeem it.

Great bus ride to Grindelwald and on to Mt First.
As recommended by the guide we made our way to the gondolas to get to the top before the lines started. We had no queues 😀 a little rain meant we couldn’t do the single flyer but we did the glider it was amazing, we were so high up in the soggy clouds but didn’t care, what an experience. We rode on the trike down to Bort and had a lovely lunch. The others went down on scootibike I chose the gondola 🚠 for the rest of the way. Checked out town of Grindelwald, had a coffee and headed back to waiting bus. Had a terrific time. Views amazing, a little snow but great weather. Thoroughly recommend 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻

My partner and I decided to book the Mt First adventure tour for mid October. What a fantastic time to go, the weather was great and there was next to no traffic on the roads or on the mountain. The day started off at Sihlquai bus station where we easily showed our mobile ticket and met our tour guide and was shown to our bus. Our tour guide was Minu and she was a very caring amazing tour guide. She thoroughly explained everything to us which helped immensely. We were the only group on the bus doing the Mt First tour so we had to stay on the bus by our selves bear he end but the bus driver was helpful in pointing us in the right direction. The voucher that you get from the tour guide is exchanged at the ticket counter for a “3 attraction pass” meaning you can choose 3/4 flyer, glider, mountain cart and trotti bike and includes unlimited cable car rides. We omitted the glider and had an amazing time. Also recommend doing the Tissot cliff walk at the top of the mountain if you aren’t afraid of heights. We had arrived at Mt First at 11.45, which was ample time to explore and enjoy Grindelwald and the mountain at this time of year. We casually enjoyed the mountain, completed 3 of the rides and still hopped on the train to Interlaken an hour early. 5 hours was more than enough time for October. Our bus was about 15 minutes late to pick us up from Interlaken which had us a little worried being the only couple but it was all good. Overall the company managed everything quite well and the tour guides were amazing. The day itself was an absolute highlight for my girlfriend and I and we would highly recommend it for anybody who enjoys a touch of adrenaline and good scenes.

AN UNFORGETTABLE LIFE EXPERIENCE! UNREAL!! Absolutely a must- do for any thrill seekers and nature lovers!! My boyfriend and I were visiting Switzerland for the first time and staying in Zurich and looked for an excursion with round trip transportation to one of the alps. This was HANDS DOWN the best choice. The view when we took the cable car up to the top of Mt First gave us chills seeing the incredibly tall mountains peeking out from the clouds. Getting to ride the mountain carts was our favorite and we wished we could have done it a second time but we chose to have lunch at the top of the mountain instead (which was also amazing! I recommend getting schnitzel and or the Swiss noodles) and ran out of time to do mountain carts a second time because by then the line was too long. We also did the Glider and the trotti bikes which were both also so thrilling! The best part was the view going down on the mountain carts and trotti bikes, it truly felt like a dream come true like we were in the Sound of Music and Julie Andrews was going to come out and sing “the hills are alive..” The tour guide was also very helpful in explaining the train situation, it was very easy to meet up with everyone and it all felt pretty seamless and convenient. This was 100% a highlight of our trip and we already want to come back and do it again!

This was an awesome experience. Recommend getting there before lunch and go to the top and do both zip lines as there were no lines until after lunch. Views are amazing. This is a very long day but worth it. The connections are explained very well by the guides and very easy to hop on the trains and get back to the bus.

Are the activities such as the zip line, flyer, glider, bikes etc included in this tour package or do we have to buy the tickets separately? Some reviews say you get a voucher from the tour guide for these activities to redeem when you get there ? Thanks
