Nice and must visit place in Interlaken city
Nice place in Interlaken city. Once we reached in the top by funicular found a great view of Lake Brienz and Lake Thun, Interlaken city in the down, and the view of world-famous triumvirate of Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. We did not made any prior ticket. We made it on the spot.

    Amazing views
Great views, and a playground for the kids. There are benches where you can eat your own food, if you don't want to go to the restaurant. It can be quite crowded, go early morning or late afternoon / evening. You can also hike up and/or down.

    Beautiful place
I went to Harder Kulm in April 2024,it was spring but snowing.. It was very easy to go to Harder Kulm.If you come from the other station to Interlaken Ost station, just follow the direction to the Brienz, and turn left,or go straight if you on the ground floor ,walk maybe 7 minutes,to the bridge and you can see Harder Kulm station Building.i arrived there about 4 pm,and less people there..It was very nice experience to reach the top by funicular train..Cause after snowing,it was really really beautiful..

Pros, cons and advices on fantastic mountain views and great wooded hikes
PROS * Truly fantastic impressive huge and massive gigantic scenic panoramic views of snow-capped Swiss Alpine mountains * Restaurant/cafeteria with views! * Great and easy scenic wooded walks from the restaurant platform * The ground station is a five minute walk through a nice green park and five minutes from Interlaken Ost station. CONS * Lines- there are always long lines to go up and to go down * Due to that, the fun icular car is always always packed and jammed "I VISITED THIS PLACE"... ... after avoiding it numerous times on all of my previous visits which included passing through Interlaken Ost train station. It seemed uninteresting and juvenile compared to the hikes that I do above and south of Interlaken. With regard to views, I was mistaken about this one. I had returned to Interlaken Ost after an unexciting and somewhat disappointing visit to the peak of the Stockhorn in Emmental. Upon passing the ground station of Harder Kulm, i saw that the waiting line only went halfway down the steps and only one side of the barrier in the middle of the steps (it usually flows on both sides of the barrier and onto the street/sidewalk. So instead of returning to my lodging in Hassliberg above Meiringen, I walked to the station and walked up the empty side of the steps- the opposite side of the barrier, since that empty side had a sign "with tickets." Showing my Berner Oberland Pass, I entered the fun icular immediately- it was packed and i was glad that there were at least little windows that were opened. Arrival at the top revealed truly fantastic picturesque scenic stunning clear views of the spic snow capped mountains. A short walk uphill brought me to the restaurant and the scenic viewing platform jutting majestically over the massive void below. While circling and exploring the area there, I found several wooded trails going off in different directions, and even though the time was 1700h, I took one eastward in the direction of Ringgenberg and walked for half an hour before returning- a fantastic mini-hike. The wait for the fun icular was about 15 minutes. WAS IT WORTH THE COST? Absolutely, especially since it was completely covered by the Berner Oberland Pass, which also allowed me to "skip-the-line" of over 30/40 minutes and to ascend on the next available fun icular. WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN? Absolutely yes ADVICE * Be sure to go, because this excursion is not strenuous and the views are outstanding, terrific and tremendous * Visit the restaurant/cafeteria and grab a table and seats opposite to astounding stunning view * Consider one of the flat wooded hikes that lead from the restaurant/cafeteria and viewing platform, but consider that it might be a one-way in/out adventure. * Consider this as an "add-on" in the late afternoon, after a day of more intensive hiking deeper and south in the Berner Oberland- that's what I did. FULL DISCLOSURE "I visited this place" with the plan to write a "helpful"👍review and to attach "helpful" photos 📷 here on tripadvisor, so if these did "help" you, please indicate that by tikking the "thumbs up" 👍 symbol. Thanks.

Not autism friendly - Very long queues no exceptions.
We booked tickets in advance and we attempted to go three times today but the queues were 2 - 2.5 hours long. As we were going as a family with a child with non verbal autism this level of wait times was not going to work. The employee working with the queues mentioned there was nothing they could do to accommodate so I called and asked the customer service team who advised they would not allow any special treatment because at the top the wait would be similar on the way down. Just an honest review for any families like us coming to Interlaken with this trip in mind that it might not work if your child struggles with waiting. We could manage prob 30 mins max waiting (after years of working on this). Disappointing there is no accommodations or accessibility for those who need it. I'm sure lots of people would understand once someone with additional needs has proof of disability.

    Unforgettable excursion
It was perfect for the first departure of the day leading to a grand trip ascending. On arrival the main attraction and most popular was the remarkable Two Lakes Bridge. Superlative vistas over the lakes and countryside are to be savoured.

Hour-long lineup to get up, another hour-long line up to get down. Spent only 5 to 10 minutes at the viewing deck.
While this funicular has a very interesting ride and pretty thrilling ascent, the lineup to ride took two roundtrips before I was able to get on. Same thing with coming down. The views are indeed spectacular, but my time at the top only took like 5 to 10 minutes. There's nothing much else to do at the top other than do strenuous hikes, which is not of my interest, or to eat, which is pretty expensive to begin with. If the lineup is already an hour-long at midday, what more during the sunset? If you're short on time or if you're pressed in scheduling in the Jungrfau region, I would let go of Harder Kulm first.

Harder Klum Train Ride was too Crowded
The ride ride was ridiculous as there were 50 persons on going up and while coming back there were more than 70 persons so you cannot see or capture any sight-seeing. The video on the website shows that there are seats and every person has there space but we were just squeezed in the tiny space and touching each ither so you cannot take pictures or make videos of the breath taking scenes. The place itself is amazing and we really enjoyed the views from the top. The restaurant was busy but the food quality was very good and we had a great time.

Beautiful place but the funicular that takes there is very crowded. They overload the tourists. After reaching the particular place you can enjoy.

    Top activity in Interlaken
Highly recommended!!! Stunning amazing view! Great service at the restaurant (our server was Alexander); friendly atmosphere. Clean bathrooms. Advanced ticket purchase was great as we were able to bypass the queue. Short walk from the Interlaken Ost station. Love this experience!

    Good family activity
I went up the tram with my partner and 1 year old. We were able to take her pushchair but it had to be folded down because they cram as many people as they can. If travelling with a toddler, I would advise using a carrier. Get there early as the queues build up quite a bit. The view was very nice at the top and not too busy at this time of year. We enjoyed burgers at the restaurant, though quite expensive. Overall it was a good experience and a good way to begin our Switzerland holiday.

The best of Switzerland all in one place!
Great food and great staff all while looking in every direction at great scenery. Only negative was that you are packed like sardines in the funicular with no air conditioning going up and down.

It's a really nice view point between the two lakes. You can spend some time in the restaurant and take in the scenery..

You can of course walk up/down the 3.6km or so but most people take the funicular and that was the big let down for me.

We bought tickets back in town at the train station. Arrived to find a huge queue but then saw there are two routes 'pre purchased tickets' or 'no ticket'. Immediately this is crazy since there are ticket machines right there in the street..Everybody can have a ticket there and make on line. We took the much smaller 'pre purchased' queue and found that people were buying tickets further up the queue and the queues then merged.. It was just pretty chaotic. People in the wrong queue, people pushing in, general crush near the actual train.

Even buying the tickets in advance we waited an hour.. And yes, another hour to get back down.

If I went back I'd walk but the steep train is part of the fun.

Absolutely worth your time! Beautiful views and fun ride up HOWEVER! The queue line going back down was horrendous. I asked the front desk before purchasing my ticket when the last train down is she said 9:40. I bought my ticket at 8, after exploring for an hour we headed back and saw a huge line we ended up waiting 2 hours to go back down. We got down by 10:55 and ran to catch our train. We were exhausted our legs hurt from standing then running! Was no fun. Worse part is the employees were rude. There were two people that kept making rude jokes and didn’t even apologize for the inconvenience. We paid $260 for 4 people, we ended up waiting longer than we actually got to explore the area. You have the technology so make a system that tells you to stop selling tickets at a certain time or a specific number of people are up.

Fantastic view of Interlaken, lakes Thun & Brienz, and 3 dominating mountain peaks.
Nice ride in the cable car, but a little overcrowded, so you can't sit since other passengers are blocking your view. Also, very hot inside (no AC) - try to avoid hot summer months. I think it's overpriced - 40 euros/adult for getting as high as 1300 meters. To compare, the ride to Mannlihen Mount (2200 m) from Wengen is only 20 euros, with a much better view of all the snowy peaks.
If you like beer, you must try the "coldest beer in the world" served in the restaurant on the top of Harder Kulm.

Harder Kulm is a must visit for every tourist to Switzerland-Interlaken. Fabulous view from the top over 4000 ft above ground level. Besides the view very inviting restaurant with open air seating to enjoy meals overlooking 360 view from the top.

Problem is in tourist season one has to wait for an hour or so to buy the entry ticket and board the Funicullar train for going to the top. One trip accommodates only about 75 persons and same car goes up and returns-ythus making people wait till one return trip is over. Like wise for returning again one has to wait for an hour before getting into the train. Thus almost three or four hours is spent on this visit which deprives tourists of visiting other places in Interlaken.
At least proper sitting lounges should be provided at either ebnd for senior citizens if not for all.

An incredible view from the top of Interlaken is worth visiting through a mountain train that accommodate about 65 people each way. It is literally 5 minutes walk from Interlaken Ost/East train station until you get to the entry point at the downhill to climb on the special train to the top. It was first week of July'2023, nice and sunny weather. Despite being a solo traveller- I loved mesmerising view from the top, followed by a lovely dinner with traditional Swiss Beer (specially served in a iced pint glass) at the mountain top restaurant with LIVE Swiss music 🎵 🎹 in play!

The price may seem like a lot, but the views are definitely worth it. Your time at the top is not restricted. There are a variety of amenities including a restaurant. Many people elect to go to a corner and take photos. Those are busy. There are also more secluded areas with benches and play structure to enjoy your time. Trams run up and down every 15 minutes and the line can be long.

This is a great spot overlooking Interlaken and Lakes Brienz and Thun. You also get wonderful views of the Jungfrau.

Depending in the time of day, you might have to queue for a while to get on the funicular. Indeed, the day we went, the weather turned miserable and wet and there were long queues of people trying to get off the hill standing in the rain. They don't increase the frequency of the funicular if they're really busy.

There is a reasonable restaurant at the top so on a good summer's evening, this would be a good spot to come.

The ticket agents never mentioned that it was all foggy up on top of Harder Kulm. We did not see anything as it ws all covered by fog. we asked for a refund or at least a discount for the next day but the ticket agents wont let us have a chance to enjoy the top of Harder Kulm. The cashier said “ok I am done with this!” as I begged to at least give us a discount for the next day as we traveled 8,000 miles away for this vacation. Rude short hair ticket agent and the driver of the funicular was extra rude also tossing to me the card where to complain. They should at least be considerate to let us see the top on another day. The driver said they cannot refund us because it means theyll refund every one. Bring your money elsewhere as the staff of this site are arrogant and no empathy at all. we travelers help the economy of this country but they should be nice to tourists bringing in money for them. They should anticipate such weather and let people know that they can at least enjoy this country on another day for lesser money becaise they dod t enjoy it the first time.

Fantastic views of Interlaken and the two lakes. It's worth the nightmare queus for the photo opportunity. However, queuing outside 🇬🇧 means absolutely nothing to travellers from other countries. Don't expect a polite, wait your turn, queue that only the British seem capable of. The evening we went up the Harder Klum the queue descended into chaos while people rushed the Funicular door as it opened. I'd love to name and shame specific groups of travellers, but you'll all know who they are and I don't want to get trolled!

They say it will get you to the top in 10 minutes what they don’t say is in busy times it’s the smallest cable car I’ve seen in all of Switzerland and despite checking times and getting there early I still had to wait for 45 mins to get on and I’m writing this in the queue. Not even sure how I’ll make it down. If they want to offer a good service get a better system going. Terrible.
