About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Z4948FZjamesb0 contributionsDon’t make this city your base campI would recommend staying somewhere else when visiting the mountain ranges of Switzerland. Interlakken is way too crowded with tourists from all over the world. Mostly middle eastern, Indian and Chinese. The restaurant choices reflected this too. Which made eating options limited that wasn’t very good. Wife and I only chose interlakken as our base stay because it was centrally located to lots of places we wanted to visit, but Switzerland has a really good interconnected train system so you can stay really anywhere you want and get to other places you want to visit fairly easily. If we ever go back to Switzerland we won’t go back to the interlakken area.Written 25 July 2024
- 307kamalp0 contributionsInterlaken was a hub for our travelIt was a hub to us to get to our destinations travelling daily from Grindelwald. We realised that Interlaken was a more central and convenient spot to stay over. It was quite a pretty place in the valley with numerous attractions around it. City had some beautiful buildings and ruins of ancient buildings in the neighbourhood. Backdrop of the city was made up of the snowcapped mountains of Bernese Oberland creating a beautiful skyline. Very often we were able to watch paragliders. In the river Aare, there was a steamer moored which we believed was operating in Lake Brienz. Interlaken was a beautifully maintained city with roadside landscaping where the flowers were in full bloom like they were awaiting to greet the visitors.Written 3 May 2024
- gurjs20130 contributionsI love InterlakenA truly amazing place. We were staying in Grindelwald and commuting to Interlaken by Train. I think next time we may opt to stay in Interlaken as it too has some amazing sites, restaurants and hotels. We visited Interlaken twice in the space of 5 days, walked along the lakes, the main street with the very posh hotels and shops.Written 6 June 2023
- barbarafleau0 contributionsNice but missing the authentic athmosphereNice mountains surrounded but the street self is very commercial. Lots of expensive shops, watch shops etc. Clearly focused on the Arabic and Asian markets.Written 1 February 2023
- imransiddiqi1510 contributionsThe true heaven on earthInterlaken is a must visit small resort town between two lakes - Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. There are many trekking, hiking and skiing trails. A walk or cycling along the lake is highly recommended. From the view point of sight seeing 1-2 days are more than sufficient if the idea is stay in the town only. Most of the activities are open in summer though. There is mountain (view point) Harder Kulm with a restaurant and a complete panoramic view of the town; it can be reached via a cable car. Lake cruise is a must that allows getting down on small islands on the itinerary.Written 17 August 2020
- JayeshD1130 contributionsThe gateway to mountain excursionThough Interlaken is a small village, but it is a gateway to many excellent places lik Shcilthorn, Jungfraujoch, Lauterbrunna valley and few medieval tiny Swiss villages like Wengen, Murren etc...Written 11 March 2020

- jonpall0 contributionsBeautiful! This is really a beautiful and nice are and the route driving there has some fantastic view spots. There is a small park in the center of town where it is nice to sit and enjoy the mountain scenery and the para-gliders coming in for a landing. In the early morning a group of farmers take their cows through the center of town to pasture and they bring them back around 3 pm. This is quite is quite an experience to watch 70 to 80 cows with bells marching through townWritten 22 September 2019

- EdiBa6830 contributionsNice short walkThe promenade of Interlaken is not very long, but a stay is worth it. Beautiful historic hotels and other beautiful buildings and small parks can be discovered along the promenade. Interlaken is the ideal starting point for many other sights and hikes.Written 31 August 2019
