About
From 2 October 2021 to 30 January 2022 Palazzo Strozzi hosts a new major exhibition dedicated to Jeff Koons, one of the most important and discussed figures in contemporary art who, from the mid-1970s to today, has revolutionized the international art system.
Developed in close dialogue with the artist, the exhibition hosts loans from the most important collections and major international museums, proposing as an original interpretation the concept of "shine" intended as a game of ambiguity between splendor and glow. to be and to appear, as the key principle of his innovative sculptures and installations that question our relationship with reality but also the very concept of a work of art

- FC20100 contributionsPalazzo Strozzi is a must-visit exhibition spacePalazzo Strozzi hosted the Anselm Kiefer / Fallen Angels exhibition during my trip to Florence. It is a beautiful space, with a dramatic foyer which draws you in completely. The Kiefer exhibition is wonderful, but it ends soon, so get to it if you can. It was beautifully curated and suited the space so well with the huge breath-taking canvases. It's a special place, get to if you can!Written 13 July 2024

- packedandready2go0 contributionsThought provoking exhibit in an interesting buildingWe went to see the Anish Kapoor exhibit. We got a lot more out of it by renting the audio tour. The exhibit is thought provoking and the building, an old palace, is quite interesting.Written 24 October 2023

- Noraatc0 contributionsHome of the Museo Fondazione Franco ZeffirelliMagnificent Renaissance palace, Palazzo Strozzi, is located near Piazza Signoria in the very center of Florence. It is home to the Museo Fondazione Franco Zeffirelli and many wonderful temporary art exhibitions. The interior of the Palazzo is closed to public thoughWritten 5 April 2023
- TheShis0 contributionsA lovely building, a disappointing Olafur Eliasson exhibition. We saw the endless array of ads for the Olafur Eliasson exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi, so we decided to visit it. While the building itself is lovely, the queue was endless (over an hour long, and another 30 minutes before moving to the basement). The exhibition itself was disappointing to an extent it was irritating.Written 23 December 2022
- MidwestKathM0 contributionsInteresting art exhibition in a historic buildingDuring a short three days in Florence, on our Friday evening, we visited the Palazzo Strozzi to see the Olafur Eliasson "Nel tuo tempo" exhibition. Purpose was twofold: I'm always looking for something to do early evening (art, music, and the like) and I wanted to see the historic Palazzo Strozzi. The exhibition wasn't exactly as I envisioned but I did see some interesting pieces, although they weren't set in any space look palatial or historic. And I didn't really see much of the Palazzo or learn about its history. Should we find ourselves in Florence in the future, I would check the Palazzo Strozzi website for other similar opportunities and maybe be able to learn more about the Strozzi family and their history as well.Written 29 October 2022
- WasteOfPaintt0 contributionsBeautiful venueWe stopped in to see the Olafur Eliasson exhibition recently and the venue is beautiful and it was interesting to have such a modern exhibition in a historic building. The exhibition itself was very fun, colorful, and most importantly not over crowded like when I saw his exhibition in London. Very well managed, and easy to navigate. Right in the heart of Florence as well. I would be interested to see an exhibition here again.Written 25 October 2022
- uri1230 contributionsWonderful Eliasson exhibitWe visited in October 22, and saw the Olafur Eliasson exhibit. The artist and exhibit were wonderful, original, with a few works specifically designed for the building itself. This was one of the highlights to our italy visit. We prioritized it over going to the Ufizzi to see the same old classical stuff again and it did not disappoint.Written 13 October 2022
- top-trippers0 contributionsFabulous special exhibitionsMuch of this Renaissance palace is closed to the public, but it is renowned for its special exhibitions. If you are in Florence, check out if there are any temporary presentations. We were lucky that our recent visit coincided with the amazing ‘once in a life-time’ special Donatello - Il Rinascimento Exhibition which united most of the artist’s masterpieces from Florence and wider Italy, together with loans from some of the world’s most famous museums, displayed alongside works of his contemporaries and successors, so that you could better understand his innovations and influence. A smaller version of this exhibition is due to move to London and New York. Our only disappointment is that we have no memento of the Exhibition – the official guide was too large, heavy and costly (over £50) so not suitable for the average visitor/tourist.Written 27 August 2022
- VoyagerAimerSourire0 contributionsDonatello expo at Palazzo Strozzi until July 31, 2022We went to Palazzo Strozzi for the Donatello exhibition and we learnt so much even though we thought we had heard it all regarding Donatello. The cooperation with Brunelleschi for example was brought to life with actual pieces by both artists put on exhibition. Donatello worked on such different mediums, whether stone, metal or wood and this too was a surprising discovery. The exhibition is not too long and yet packs an informational punch!Written 26 July 2022
- DavudW5w5q0 contributionsUnmissableDonatello Il Rinascimento is fabulous, as is almost every large scale exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi. If you have any interest in the art of the West, this is an essential visit.Written 22 July 2022
- Bob J0 contributionsBeautiful building, excellent exhibit. We went to the Strozzi primarily to see the Donatello exhibit, which was excellent. The Strozzi is a great old building used for different exhibitions. Donatello was unique in that he worked in so many different media, not just sculpture. They also had a digital presentation there that friends told us to skip.Written 30 May 2022
