- This morning tour begins when you meet your guide at a central meeting point. With only a small group for company, enjoy a personal discovery tour of Venice. Your first stop is the Rialto Bridge: built in the 16th century, it’s the oldest bridge over the Grand Canal, and one of Venice’s most recognizable landmarks. While you’re there, peek into the Rialto Fish Market, and learn about the city’s one-of-a-kind culinary traditions. Next, head to an area of the city many tour groups miss: the district (sestiere) of Cannaregio, home to picturesque, winding streets. Wander by Marco Polo’s House and continue onwards to the Church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli, among other noteworthy sites. The tour continues with a stop at St. Mark’s Square. As you go, learn from your guide about Venice’s past as a medieval powerhouse, and how the city has evolved today. Finally, finish the tour with a lengthy gondola ride along the Grand Canal, as well as the city’s quieter waterways.

- gregwI8017XM0 contributions85year old mom broke her shoulder the night before and NO Refund! HEARTLESS!!My two brothers and I took our mother to Italy for her 85th birthday which included this day trip in Venice. We were so very much looking forward to this tour, especiall our mother! But the evening before the tour she stumbled, fell and subsequently broke her shoulder. I called Tripadvisor and they relayed the message from the local tour outfit, WALKS OF ITALY, and told me that we were not eligible for a refund since she did not break her arm more than 24 hours in advance of the tour. Avoid this tour outfit at all costs! They couldn't care less even if your mother is in hospital in a foreign country!Written 25 March 2025
- U2523YYpm0 contributionsAn educational and fun tour!An excellent experience all around. Our guide, Marie-Therese, gave us an incredible tour full of history, anecdotes, and humor. Our day was well-spent with this tour.Written 25 March 2025
- michaelfE8457NK0 contributionsGreat tour, great tour guideOur tour guide, Romy, was amazing. It seems like she knows literally everything to know about the Palace, the Basilica, and Venetian history and architecture. Communicated clearly; answered questions. I highly recommend doing this "after hours" tour, no crowds at all. We toured the Doge's Palace first, then had a 45 minute break, and then met up to tour the Basilica. Our guide, Romy, gave us a great recommendation to grab a glass of wine during the break. The tour operator was great, easy check-in, we all got headphones but honestly you could hear the tour guide without them because of the intimate setting and lack of other tourists. The Palace and Basilica are must-see of course, but if you're going to do it, this tour was amazing.Written 24 March 2025
- lindamD8681LQ0 contributionsLoved it and meaningfulOur guide, Sabrina, was perfect. She obviously has a deep knowledge and love for St. Mark's. We learned a lot as she guided us through our tour.Written 24 March 2025
- charf20200 contributionsBeautiful Night ExperienceWhat an amazing way to see Doge’s Palace and St. Mark’s Basilica. And, the basilica glowed when the lights came on….spectacular! No crowds! This was worth every penny. Grazia (Grace) was very engaging and knowledgeable. She made sure everyone enjoyed the tour. Tip: Don’t bring your children . This was the only downside for us….. having to tolerate someone else’s children who had no discipline almost ruined this experience (Luckily they realized it was getting out of hand and left !)Written 24 March 2025
- Matthew B0 contributionsGreat way to kick off our trip to VeniceA well-paced walking tour with great commentary along the way. The church and palace were stunning; our guide (Giulia C) was outstanding - very engaging and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!Written 24 March 2025

- PAWCarol0 contributionsDon't be just a 'Tourist'Would definitely recommend staying there for at least a week if you really want to see Venice. DO NOT get caught up in all the main tourist places. Take time to walk around sone of the quieter passageways and canals - you will be amazed at some of the lovely, and cheaper, cafes and restaurants you will find. It will also give you more time to explore the outer islands. Murano is easy to get to, about 30/45 mins depending on where you board the waterbus, but the others can take up to and hour. We are going back as we only had a couple of nights there at the end of our cruise and feel we still missed out on so much.Written 21 March 2025
- David P0 contributionsVenice in a dayThe guide was very knowledgeable and engaging throughout the day. Although our visit to Venice was quick, it felt as though we saw many of the highlights and gave us good ideas on what to spend more time on our own. The downside was the company’s photo/videographer that was using our tour to shoot a promotion. When I declined to participate, her solution was to stay at the back of the tour away from the guide which made it difficult to see what he was talking about.Written 21 March 2025
- magrudersb660 contributionsGreat way to see the two sites without reading a guidebookI expected a bit more from this tour. It was great to get around the two sites efficiently and get a bit more information without having to g to stop and read a guide book. That said, there wasn’t much time to ask questions and the commentary got a bit repetitive. The Venetian perspective in all things is reinforced over a more nuanced historical viewpointWritten 20 March 2025
- Cynthia L0 contributionsOverall a good experience! It was good but our time was not managed well. We spent a lot of time or trivial details and felt rushed during main events. Our tour did not include seeing the remains of St. Mark in the Basilica. Overall it was good but for the time and money spent those are improvements that I would have liked to see.Written 20 March 2025
- Z5559THsarahw0 contributionsGreat DayGreat day with guide Nico - who was friendly and well-informed. Fantastic introduction to the city. Thoroughly enjoyed and would highly recommend.Written 19 March 2025
- Cindy P0 contributionsGreat trip but too shortSuper fun trip but too short! Our guide, Alice, was incredible informative and helpful but the time on each island is woefully short. We really needed at least 30-45 mins more on each island to make the trip worthwhile.Written 18 March 2025
- celiai20130 contributionsGreat tour but needs better joining instructionsOnce we joined the group all was great. HOWEVER having booked on line it was never clear how to access our e-tickets. TripAdvisor sent us a voucher for the tour the day before, but it was not clear how to find the link through that for our joining instructions. Result was we didn't sort it out until nearly 15 minutes after the tour was due to start, so we held up the rest of the tour groupWritten 17 March 2025

Good walking tour overall. Took exactly 3 hours. Roberta the guide was very informative and did a great job. Being a local that had lived their all her life she clearly knew her stuff . Tour included the local markets, home of Marco Polo and the St Marks Basilica, with line skip (the roof inside is only lit up for 30 mins a day). It was lit up while we we there which was a result. The gondola ride at the end was 30mins long and takes you through a few of the quieter smaller canals as well as the grad canal. The gondolier did ask for payment after the ride but we pointed out that it was part of the tour. Not sure if he was being cheeky or was just uninformed. The only negative is that when booking the price for 3 of us was £180. When going to check out it increased the price to £236 and I cannot see the reason why. Overall would recommend.

We visited on a Sunday for this tour so much of the city was shut down (fish market, many shops, Basilica San Marco, but still much to see and learn without it. I'd recommend NOT booking on a Sunday to get the full experience however. If that's when works, it's still worth it. The Gondola ride costs as much as the tour if you did it without being on the tour and it's no different. You're in a line with tour groups and non tour groups. The only difference is you may get on it alone. At most you'll be with one other small (2 people) group which is no big deal if you just want the experience and aren't planning a proposal.

We did this tour with a small group of 12 and it was excellent. The guide Nico had a vast knowledge of the history of the city which was shared in an informative and relaxed way. I highly recommend this tour as you will get so much more from your trip to Venice after the origins and highlights have been explained. Excellent tour and excellent value!

I booked this tour in December as a Christmas present for my family on our much anticipated trip to Venice. 1 month before our tour date I was emailed saying they could not get tickets to St Marks Basilica but would take us to the outside of the building and tel us about the history. They offered a 6 euro refund for the inconvenience. An inconvenience? Once in a lifetime trip, and they removed a major component of the Venice visit. To say I am disappointed in an understatement. Be cautious before booking, you may not get the tour you wanted.

The tour guide was fantastic, 5 stars, she was very helpful, accomodating. Tour company was not. We actually booked the day before when we had the most free time, allowed 2 hours to return our car at airport, catch a bus & train to island and then had to take a boat to the location that was quite far from the train station. We called to let them know we may be a little late and were hoping to meet up snd their 2nd stop. But they would not give any set itinerary like most tours give. So when we got there 20 min. Late couldnt see them. Spent several phone calls and they did rebook us for the next day, but charged $20 per person for that and wouldn't remove that fee. My suggestion for this company is to give people an idea of the order of events. Venice is s very difficult city to navigate and get to inner city. They could also start the tour closer to the train station

We had a great time on this tour! We were sure to schedule on a day that the Rialto fish market would be open and it didnt disappoint. Our guide Nico is local to Venice and gave us thorough detail on the history of Venice and was very interactive with all of our questions. The tour was about 2 hours of walking around Venice and seeing the main attractions, and ended with a 30 minute gondola ride!

We really enjoyed this tour. Mary Therese was very knowledgeable and spoke great English. We walked through the Rialto market, over the Rialto bridge, through St. Mark's Basilica, and saw some nice back streets and courtyards as well. We left the tour feeling knowledgeable about the origins of Venice, the impact of different events in history, and the various types of architecture around the city. The tour ended with a gondola ride, which seemed short but it was enough to get the experience and much cheaper than others in our travel group that hired gondolas from the side of the canal. Overall, would definitely recommend!

Our tour with our guide Nico from Walks was SUPERB!!! Despite the occasional gust of wind and constant rain that could’ve ruined many a tour, ours was hardly dampened by this weather. Unfortunate that the gondola experience had to be canceled (and to be reimbursed) but the time was offset by a welcome (and dry) break for a coffee. Communication was very clear (both to find and start the tour and the information relayed along the way). Our guide himself (Nico) was absolutely FANTASTIC! Knowledgeable, passionate about the subject matter (history of Venice), kind, capable (always aware of the full group) and very captivating. Full marks all around. 5 stars and more if possible. Thank you for a fabulous and informative walk through Venice.

Our tour of Virginia did a fine job touring us. She was extremely knowledgeable of the city and showed us many architectural landmarks and historical information. I’d recommend this tour to all people interested in understanding the history of Venice and it’s architecture.

The tour was really interesting, it began with around an hour of walking around Venice at a leisurely pace, mainly around the Rialto and San Marco area. We had earphones and the guide was very knowledgeable about the history. We then went straight into the Basilica which was impressive and beautiful. After the tour we were taken to the gondolas, the ride lasted around 30-40 minutes and included the grand canal. We were in a gondola with one other couple. The tour lasted 3 hours, their was a toilet stop after the Basilica, there is a charge for public conveniences. I would highly recommend the tour, especially at the start of your trip to Venice as it will help you orientate.

Hello, I will be traveling with an 18 year old and an 80 year old. How many miles is the walking? I am worried about stamina!
Written 18 June 2019
There is quite a bit of walking, with numerous bridges to walk up and down stairs to cross canals. Our guide had a leisurely pace and we did stop to rest several times. You have a break at mid-day for lunch also. But, bottom line, it is a full day of walking.

What's the tour like in the rain ??? Going next week and haven't booked yet as I'm keepin my eye on the weather, and it looks like rain all day the day the tour takes place ! Any rainy day specialists?

I see some people mention being forced to tip for the gondola portion... if it's included in the price doesn't the tour company deal with the tipping issue? I for one wouldn't tip if some guy who depends on tourists for his living began a tirade against...tourists.
Written 15 April 2019
I don’t remember any tipping or tirade “issues”. From what I recall there was the opportunity to tip after the gondola ride but nothing forced or intimidating.
GREAT tour and fun gondola ride!
