Beautiful boat, nice driver. Great and fast way to travel to our drop off point without going on the large boat with many stops. - Quest292781782900 contributionsAvoid Venice. Not worth the experience.First visit to Venice was in 1966. Loved it. The locals were friendly and outgoing, making the visit unforgettable. Great meals at local restaurants; much to see where you could slowly and peacefully enjoy the creativity of past masters. It was a busy city but not crowded. The city is now so overcrowded by tourists that getting around is like trying to ride a trolley or subway in Tokyo where they employ pushers to get more people in the cars. Walking most of the streets is like being in a dodgem at an amusement park.Written 1 December 2024

- EgyptophileEngland0 contributionsExcellent serviceMuch more civilised than the airport bus to Piazalle Roma, the fight to reclaim suitcases and orientation of the correct Grand Canal embarcadero and vaporetto number. It is so much easier to leave the airport arrivals and get an Ailaguna return ticket. We needed return tickets on the orange line to go to Ca Rezzonico which cost us €27. We were also able to buy our 7 day tickets for the vaporetti at the same kiosk. I have airport assistant so the young lady took us to the departure point and I waited for the next orange line boat. Truthfully it was rather full, maybe over subscribed with some people having to wait for the next. The journey was 'choppy' at times but this was because of other boats including taxis going past very fast and creating waves. The majority of the passengers got off at Rialto so four of us enjoyed the rest of the journey in comfort.Written 30 November 2024

- 850niallo0 contributionsThe dark side of Alilaguna water taxis from Venice Airport (Avoid)While the lady from Alilaguna who sold me a ticket at Venice Airport was pleasent and courteous, that was the highlight of travelling to Venice by boat. She said it would take one hour to get to Venice, this was true. What she didn't say is that I would have to stand in a queue for 1 hour and 45 minutes before getting on the first available boat which then took another hour to get to Venice. Nor did she say that we'd be packed like sardines with an old man falling over and hurting himself as we got on. Nor did she say that the vast wash from the boat would be ecologically damaging to the nearby lagoon. This we found out in Venice. On the way back, I bought a ticket from the machine at the pier of S.Marco. I found out later that it wasn't the correct one for Alilaguna but my colleague used his credit card to swipe me through the gate as the boat was just leaving for the airport. I missed it anyway. I waited half an hour for the next one and got on. I showed my ticket to the man driving the boat. He screamed at me for about 3 minutes that I had the wrong ticket and that I must get off the boat. There was no signage anwhere to explain why a single ticket to the airport from the machine at the entrance was not valid on the Alilaguna boat. He didn't have an alternative solution for me. He was not interested in anything I had to say and started to violently square up to me. He absolutely didn't care if I would miss my plane. I got off the boat. A couple of German people were as confused as I was with the signage and the ticket machine at S. Marco pier. They were also unable to make it onto the boat. I eventually got to the airport with a very rotten taste in my mouth after what was overall an amazing visit to the magnificent city of Venice. Please go to Venice you'll love it but avoid Alilaguna if at all possible.Written 1 November 2024

There is no other place on Planet Earth that compares to Venice! A truly unique city on the water! I thought that I had done all the necessary research before I left, but there is always more to do and first hand experience is always the best teacher. We came off a cruise ship in Trieste that is two hours by train away from Venice. We rode in a first class coach (worth the extra $) to the Mestre train station, where we had to switch trains to take us to S.Lucia station on the island. Almost missed our connection because our train had switched platforms and there are no schedule boards on the platforms. The announcements for changes are only in Italian, so we didn't get the "memo". After arriving, I purchased a two day pass for the water taxi (70 euros for two) and proceeded to get on the Vaporetto only to discover we got on the wrong one and received an unwanted tour around the island for an hour and a half. Certain routes are clockwise, others are counter-clockwise, so guess which one we got on? The instructions for the water taxi are vague. We wound up back where we started at the train station, where we started a 35 min bag-drag to our hotel. We happened upon an independent luggage porter with an empty dolly who carted our bags to the hotel for 25 euros (well worth it to us since we are not young any more). Our hotel, Ai Mori d'Oriente, was booked through a travel agent. Room was spacious and very nice, but the tub/shower was a bit small(typical in Europe). You couldn't ask for a better staff. All of them spoke very good english and were very helpful. Our travel agency also booked us a private tour of the Doge's Palace and the Basilica San Marco. It was in one word; amazing! Our tour guide, Christina was a veritable history book and her English was impeccable. Because of my mistake with the water taxi, we walked to the palace to meet up with the guide (didn't want to chance it). There are no streets to speak of, only canals and sidewalks. The bridges over the canals have steps (some have ramps), which would be challenging for someone with mobility problems.
If your'e a foodie, Venice is your city! Everywhere you turn there is a restaurant or bar with the most wonderful choices of things to eat!
The hotel staff told us there was a private water taxi that could pick us up right out in front of the hotel and take us directly to the airport. I had them book it right then. I wasn't going to mess around with bag dragging to the train station where there would be another 1/3 mile walk to the taxi/Uber/bus pickup location. Also, the boat ride was a blast (140 euros and well worth it to me)!
Recommendations: Plan to spend more than a day and a half there and get the straight skinny on how the Vaporetto system works so you don't waste valuable time like I did.

This transfer was well worth the cost! Getting into Venice from the airport can be challenging and hectic, but this was effortless and quite pleasurable. We booked the “Full Service”. An agent was waiting for us with our name on a placard as we exited customs. She took our luggage and we followed her to our private water taxi, a speed boat that took us straight to our hotel in at least half the time it would have taken with other means of transportation. There was no waiting time and no hassles.

The transfer was very easy to find and they had a representative take us down to the dock area and stay until we were on the taxi. The taxi service took us right to our hotel on one of the canals and the boat was well maintained and fast. The cost is a little high, but the ride was great and we had great peace of mind knowing we had an easy way to get where we needed to be.

This airport transfer was booked shortly before our trip as a surprise for my Mother. Whilst there was a 20 minute delay to await for the speedboat to arrive the host was attentive and polite and remained with us until the boat arrived.
The transfer was as expected until the time came to disembark. The boat pulled into a jetty where it was not possible to get the boat any closer than 3ft from the jetty, the boat was also 8-10 inches lower than the jetty itself. My 80 year Mother was terrified at prospect of having to stand int he too of the boat in rough water whilst also trying to jump across the gap and up onto the jetty. The guy who was the driver of the speedboat was very rude, impatient and aggressive shouting at her to “get on with it”, “this is Venice. Get used to it” and “the water is not very deep anyway” followed by if she didn’t get out of the boat quickly he would drive her back to the airport and she could go home again. Despite the fact she was physically shaking from head to foot this barrage of abuse continued for 10 minutes. Eventually another boat driver arrived and reassured her and assisted in her disembarking from the boat. By this time she was crying and very physically shaken by the whole experience!!

Dear Adventure59417715690,
We are sorry to read that you had a bad experience with our service and we apologise if you felt mistreated by the driver.
Could you please give us more information about the time/date of your transfer? we would like to investigate more on the matter. Our company mission is to deliver a great transportation service and we dissociate from rude behaviours.
Unfortunately transports in Venice are complicated and this is due to the nature of the city. It was probably low tide and getting off the taxi could have been trickier for an older person but we cannot do much about it.
We apologise once again and we invite you to e-mail our customer care with more details on the event.
Best regards

The only advantage with this airline is for the trip to Venice airport. The rest is scam
We took a 72 h ticket (to avoid) already more expensive '(65 €) than ACTV and we were not able to use it during our stay because our tickets were never recognized ..the round trip we took only worked on the way out. On the return the 72 hours were supposed to have passed.. fortunately a "nice controller" on arrival at the airport asked us 20 euros cash (which he put in his pocket) and opened the barrier ....!!!

The person whom we were looking with our name was hard to find. The paper with out name was covered by another paper so it could not be seen. The meeting person did not know which dock to go and did not walk with us to the dock. Upon finding the dock the other person had to call for a taxi and it was not ready. It should have been more organized and much better service for the high price we pay.

The second floor is the departure lobby and the first floor is the arrival lobby.
Although it is an easy-to-understand airport,
The departure lobby on the second floor is
"Bound for America" takes up a lot of space.
I asked the attendant, 'Where are the Iberia check-in counters?' When I asked,
It's the first floor. I asked the security on the first floor and they said, 'We're leaving upstairs! Get up. That's what I say.
I asked another person, "We're leaving upstairs!" That's what I say. That's why it's on the first floor on the message board. I went to the front of the notice board and pointed out, "Go upstairs!" And he ran away.
As it happened, there was a taxi driver who was a customer at the time of entry, so I asked him.
It's like he's a taman, he's on the second floor, he tells me to go upstairs. No, no, no. If I show them the first floor of the bulletin board, this is why Japanese people are in trouble. And...
As you say. Go upstairs. I laughed and left.
I've asked a number of security guards and staff.
Everybody, we're leaving upstairs! That's what I say. He is an Italian who never listens to people.
I can't wait to go to the business class lounge.
My wife and I looked around, and there was a passageway at the end of the road to the port, and there was a check-in counter on the first floor with people, people, people, that surprised me.
Why are security guards, staff, and customers
You don't know this place, do you?
There is no indication at all. -Why.
He's really a sloppy Italian.

This was the best way to start our trip! After a very long travel day, we were greeted by the kindest host. She was easy to find right outside of customs! We avoided long lines at the water taxi kiosk and were escorted straight to our awaiting water taxi. The captain was nice and the ride was smooth. Our host led us straight to our hotel lobby! Worth every penny after a full day of travel. They even accommodated our schedule change due to flight changes beyond our control. Would highly recommend.

An ordinary welcome by a person who had dozens of children's names printed on sheets taped to a cart....
Waited a good quarter of an hour to get a boat while the classic shuttles were running.
Transfer without any explanation from the driver.
We had the same transfer a few years ago (5 years) and frankly it had nothing to do with it.
Under these conditions, we greatly prefer a classic transfer.
Why pay so much?

We have a late arrival, 11:30 p.m.. Will we be able to get a transfer at that time?
Written 29 August 2019
We booked our private transfer from the airport to our hotel vis the Viator app. You might call their customer service line to see if they can accommodate a late arrival.
Written 29 August 2019
Hello there - it says in the additional information that the price is per person - but I've added 4 adults and the price remains about £200? Please could someone clarify?
Written 9 August 2019
Yes, that would be correct I believe - the price is for the hire of the motor boat, which will take up to a maximum of 6 passengers and 1 item of hand luggage each. It is pricey, but it is the only way to arrive in Venice - absolutely thrilling ‘James Bond’ style!
Written 9 August 2019
I keep seeing that there is a maximum of 1 suitcase and 1 carry on each. I have 2 suitcases and a carry on. Will they refuse me or charge me extra or what?
Written 20 June 2019
If you are taking a private transfer and it is only you, they would likely have zero problem with an extra bag. The boats easily handle 6 people plus luggage.
Written 20 June 2019
Hello Teresa,
I am not sure what they charge for excess baggage. We were a family of 5 with 5 large suitcases, a large duffel bag and 5 backpacks. It did not seem to be a problem and nothing was said. Their website mentions one suitcase and one carry on per person. There is a note if there is extra baggage beyond that is to call them and ask. They may or may not allow it depending on the group size. Hope that helps.
