The spectacular, 14th-century Doge’s Palace was once the headquarters of the powerful rulers of Venice. Today, the palace is one of Venice’s most popular attractions, filled with Renaissance masterpieces from Tintoretto and Veronese. This skip-the-line tour saves you time with guaranteed entry, and also give you access to the rarely open Piombi prison, where the famous Casanova once made his daring escape.
What to Expect

Your tour starts in the picturesque Piazza San Marco, where your guide will be waiting. Learn about the palace’s magnificent exteriors before skipping the crowds and heading to the front of the entry line.

Inside the Doge’s Palace, enjoy a guided visit through the opulent decor. Wander past Renaissance murals and gilded carvings, but don’t forget to look up: The famous fresco, Juno Bestowing her Gifts on Venice, adorns the ceiling.

Visit the Trial Chambers of the Council of Ten, where you’ll hear about the Venetian Republic’s formidable secret service. Before the tour is up, you’ll get special access to the Piombi prison, an attic jail usually closed to visitors, including the cell of Venice’s legendary lover, Casanova. Stop to take a breath—or a photo—on the 16th-century Bridge of Sighs before heading back to the square.

Good tour for a quick visit to the sites at San Marco square. The group was a little too large for my taste but they had a good audio system that allowed us to hear everything the guide was saying. Guide was very nice and...More

Yes, about an hour in the prison, which to us wasn’t all that interesting. Lot’s of stairs and cramped quarters. Then you’re completely on your own for the Doge’s Palace. And you sill end up standing in line, albeit for a... More
