Overview
While vacationing in Rome, spend time away from the big city without doing a ton of planning on a guided tour of Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius. Hike to Mt. Vesuvius' crater and explore Pompeii with a guide, discovering lesser-known historical info as you go, and don’t worry about lunch or entrance fees because pizza and admission are both included.
What to Expect
Your tour of Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius starts with pickup in central Rome.

Board an air-conditioned vehicle, and make the ride over to Mt. Vesuvius. At Mt. Vesuvius, your guide leads you on a hike to the top of the old volcano. At the top, catch sight of the Bay of Naples, and sights inside the crater. Please note from late November to late March, you’ll explore the National Archaeological Museum of Pompeii instead of the short hike.

Afterward, take a break and enjoy a pizza lunch before making your way over to Pompeii—a UNESCO World Heritage Site and former Roman city.

Once you arrive in Pompeii, follow your guide on a tour, and learn the history of the area. See the Forum and Teatro Grande as you go.

Your tour ends with a ride back to Rome.

Excellent Outing for Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius

My family really appreciated this trip which included a short hike to the top of Mt. Vesuvius. Please note that the this hike is strenuous. Now, we got lucky with good weather. But, even with good weather the wind can be fierce at the top...More

This was an awesome day trip that I highly recommend. It was a very long day because Rome is a 3 hour drive from Pompeii but well worth the trip. We met our guide Robert at the designated meeting point and departed on time. In...More

Walking around Pompeii should be alright so long as you think you can handle a 6 hour bus ride with only two stops/breaks. I do not think hiking up Vesuvius is a very good idea, as it's quite steep and there's loose lava... More
