Overview
The droves of visitors the Colosseum attracts are testament to its status as a Rome icon, but you can enhance your experience on a skip-the-line tour that not only allows you to bypass most of the waiting, but also includes visits to typically off-limits areas. Explore the underground gladiator chambers, stand in the arena, and hear tales of the contests from a guide. Plus, tick off the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill on a walking tour.
What to Expect
After booking your desired departure time, meet your guide outside the Colosseum and bypass long ticket lines often in excess of two hours.

Once inside, you'll explore the Colosseum’s subterranean chambers and pits. These are typically off-limits and only accessible to a select number of visitors daily, so this tour lets you view more than most people get to see.

As you explore, hear about the gladiators and wild animals that waited here before fights, and then ascend to the arena floor. While most visitors are only allowed around the perimeter, you will stand on the remaining floor, where you can see the underground chambers.

Afterward, walk to the nearby Roman Forum, once the city’s political hub. Enjoy views of the ruins before climbing Palatine Hill, the residential area of ancient Rome’s elites, and gaze down at the Circus Maximus chariot circuit.

Your tour concludes on the Via Sacra, ancient Rome’s principal thoroughfare.

Please note: The order of sites visited may be reversed during your tour.

Ok tour

We booked this tour through City Wonders, but was handed off to another guide for the underground part, which was strange. We spent a lot of time standing around waiting for different things, including having to change receivers for the different guide. In my opinion,...More

Fine but not impressive

If I were to do it again, I’d buy the skip the line ticket and a collesium guide book. We spent so long trying to gather our large group in the atrium of The collesium and so little time actually viewing the collesium. The tour...More

The only part that might be considered a bit claustrophobic is going down the stairs and immediately when you get off the stairs, other than that there is plenty of space.
