Tivoli Day Trip from Rome: Villa d'Este and Hadrian's Villa, with English-speaking guide
US$64.59
Overview

Combine visits to two of Tivoli's UNESCO World Heritage sites—Villa d'Este and Hadrian's Villa—on this full-day guided trip from Rome. Get an inside look at the lives of the Roman elite through your guide's commentary as you walk through lush private gardens and take in archaeological ruins. Best of all, you’ll do all of this while leaving the driving to someone else.

What to Expect

Meet your guide and group in a central Rome location, then find a seat in the climate-controlled bus for the ride to Tivoli. On the way, your guide will fill you in on fascinating details about the UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Stop first at Hadrian's Villa, one of the ancient Roman elite's prestigious vacation spots. Your guide will lead you through the more than 30 buildings, built for Emperor Hadrian's lover and consisting of libraries, temples, and thermal baths, connected by underground tunnels.

Break for free time and lunch (own expense). Then move on to Villa d'Este, where you'll learn about its history. Built for Lucrezia Borgia's son in the 15th century, the villa includes gardens with fountains, waterfalls, and old-growth trees.

After a full day of exploring, relax and enjoy the scenery on the way back to Rome.

Very enjoyable excursion

We took this trip with the Enjoy Rome tour company. Although it would have been possible to do this independently the tour took out all the hassle and I thought was well worth the money. There was quite a large crowd, a full bus plus...More

Hadrian’s Villa, even in ruins, is a beautiful place, as is the Villa d’Este, notable for its gardens and fountains. We were fortunate to have pleasant weather and sparse crowds. Giuseppe was a very informative and accommodating guide. It was fun to watch this self-described...More

We went last week. You leave Rome at 09:00-09:30 and get back around 16:30. The tour is practically all day. You get some information on the bus on the way there. You’ll spend 1.5-2 hours at Hadrian’s villa. Break for lunch... More
