We loved our private wine tour with Gaetano. It was the best part of our trip. He took us to two smaller wineries, and we got to hear directly from the winemakers what inspires them and how they think about their craft. It was wonderful to share a bottle with them and hear there stories. And Gaetano was an exceptional host/guide. This tour is a must for anyone who enjoys wine.

Guy was a special and accommodating guide. It was my husband’s birthday and I asked Guy if something could be done to make it special. Guy arranged for a birthday cake at one of the wineries we visited. The wineries were great too. Go with Guy.

My husband and I booked a private tour with Gaetano for our honeymoon this past June (2024). Everything started out amazing - Gaetano reached out to ensure we had no allergies, picked us up from our hotel very promptly, and really took an effort to get to know us during the drive to the first vineyard. When at the first vineyard, Gaetano offered to help us ship wine that we wanted to purchase, and proceeded to show us a website and the cost to do so (~$146). We've done this in the past, and based on how warm and welcoming Gaetano was, we were quick to trust him. Unfortunately, our instinct to trust in him was incorrect. We spent more than $300 on wine, tipped Gaetano a significant portion, and paid the ~$146 shipping cost directly to him via PayPal all on top of the cost of the day (which also goes directly to him as he owns the company). As shown by the photo, the wine is still supposedly sitting in Italy and has never been received. We reached out to Gaetano a number of times via Whatsapp, and he has stopped responding, using multiple excuses as to why the wine has not arrived yet. This is a shame - we had a lovely day with Gaetano and were so excited to recommend his tour to any friend or family member visiting Italy, as well as wanting to take another tour with him next time we visited. Based on this experience, we cannot recommend his service and caution anyone considering shipping wine with him.

Gaetano is the absolute best!!! We first met Gaetano on our Honeymoon 10 years ago and went on a private wine tour in Irpinia with him, which to this day is one of the best wineries we have ever visited! We went back 2 years later with my father-in-law to visit the villages where his grandparents came from, and went on another food and wine tour with him, which was also incredible - Gaetano knows everyone in the region and takes you to the very best food and wine places! This past July, Gaetano helped me organize a family trip of a lifetime - 19 of my husband's family rented an amazing villa and Gaetano and his team helped us all week with amazing tours and transfers to and from airports/train stations. Gaetano went above and beyond to make it the most amazing vacation we've ever been on - he helped me find the Villa and a private chef to cook for us for the week, and took us to an incredible winery and cheese shop + farm - the entire family was blown away. The most incredible part of our trip though was that Gaetano was able to take my father-in-law to the town hall to search records to fill out his family tree even farther (it goes back to the 1700's!) and he actually found 2 living relatives (a first cousin of my husbands' grandmother and grandfather) who Gaetano called and arranged for us to meet them! It was the most incredible experience - both families invited all of us into their homes and the craziest part is that 10 years ago as my husband and I were strolling around these villages we walked right past these houses and never knew we had living relatives there!! It was so amazing and Gaetano was incredible to organize this all. He is just the best - so knowledgeable of the beautiful area and will take you to places you would never find on your own. We can't wait to go back and see him again soon!!! I cannot recommend Gaetano and his team enough :)

In addition to everything else Gaetano does, he is an expert genealogist. He went above and beyond my wildest dreams. Gaetano worked hard not only to trace my heritage to Montemiletto, he also found a 3rd cousin and his family and took me to visit with them. It was such an amazing experience and beyond belief how much effort Gaetano put into this search. He is an exceptional person. Words cannot explain how extraordinary this experience was for me thanks to incredible Gaetano.

Gaetano was such a great host and tour guide! My family and I had the best time. We were picked up from our hotel in Positano on time and the ride was smooth. There was some traffic so it took us a little over 2 hours to reach the first stop. At both wineries we were treated as family. There was SO much food, plan on a late, light dinner after this tour! The first winery really felt like we were in a family’s home. The tour was informative and the wine was delicious. The second stop was great to see the contrast in the technology. We also enjoyed the wine here and the food was again plentiful and delicious. I like the cheese so much, I asked about where I could buy it. Gaetano went out of his way to find the cheese for me. He went as far as to deliver it to me in Naples! He is a great guy to spend the day with and really treats you like family. I highly recommend this tour!

Gaetano is your man, for a wine tour, to discuss food and travel, or just to talk about life I had the privilege to accompany Gaetano to visit two wineries both in the Taurasi DOCG region, based on my preference (where we tried both Taurasi’s and Fiano’s/Greco’s) He picked up as from out Hotel in Sorrento in a very nice Mercedes Sedan. First we stopped at a Bar (i.e. Café) for a quick coffee and cornetto on the way to the first winery, a small family owned one (Donna Elvira), and later to a family and operated one (Antico Castello). Both were personal visits, with great stories, visits to the vineyard, cellar and great food (finger food or snacks but couldn’t eat dinner after that; look out for the pecorino and Mirco’s veggies at D. Elvira or the Mamma home made tiramisu at Antico delivered by the Dr. mamma) Gaetano’s knowledge and experience is truly impressive, he was kind, friendly yet professional (he extended the time at the visits when we needed, without us asking and truly made us feel at home like a Campania ambassador). I strongly recommend Gaetano for an Irpinia wine tour (or anywhere else in Italy as a true wine expert), a food tour (which he know a lot about) or a tourist tour of any kind. We will be back.

WineGuy is a must when visiting Southern Italy Such an amazing adventure with the “WineGuy” on our trip to Italy ! Very professional transfers from the airport in Rome to our hotels, and then our transfer to Sorrento, but we made a stop in Cassino for an amazing lunch! We visited a town my brother-in-law’s Grandparents were from, and Guy even arranged a meeting with the town mayor. Our visit to the Donna Elvira winery was anything less than spectacular and very informative by Dr. Mirco Colella. In fact my wine that I ordered arrived in less 2 weeks! If you’re planning a trip to Italy especially to Southern Italy you won’t be disappointed in contacting the “WineGuy”!!!

My wife and I just spent three days in Montemiletto researching my wife’s grandparents’ families. They both left Montmiletto more than 100 years ago and settled in Massachusetts. We worked with Gaetano Petrillo to help us in this endeavor. My son had also worked with him more than ten years ago when he and his wife visited Montemiletto, so we knew that he was going to more than meet our expectations. He picked us up at the airport in Naples and drove us to the Casa Glenda guest house where he had arranged for us to stay. Good choice! It was nice and newly renovated and had everything that we needed for our stay. The bonus was that it was right in the middle of the old town. Over the next three days, Gaetano introduced us to ten of my wife Marie’s second cousins. His English is excellent, and our Italian is not! He was able to make phone calls to many of the cousins to arrange meetings with them. He even accompanied us to dinner at a cousin’s house one night and was very busy translating for us in both directions all evening. It was like he was part of the family! What a great time! We also made several stops at the Montemiletto City Hall researching ancestral information of my wife’s family. The city hall is in an old monastery. Gaetano is an expert in genealogy. He was able to easily find all the information that we were looking for. On one our visits to city hall, he even introduced us to the Mayor of Montemiletto, Massimiliano Minichiello. Gaetano also drove us to the Greek ruins in Paestum on the Gulf of Salerno as well as lunch at a buffalo mozzarella cheese production farm/restaurant nearby. The food was great there and he knew all the staff. It was a great visit to Montemiletto, and Gaetano Petrillo made it even better. We highly recommend his services. We consider him a dear friend.

‘Guy’ was amazing and knew so much about the region, the wine and was able to make the whole experience amazing. Plus the wine - making h the wine. And the hospitality of the families who run the two wineries we visited. Between Guy and the folks we met I feel we made some friends for life. My wife and I would HIGHLY recommend this tour and getting to spend the day with Guy. When we come back (and I know we will since we threw a coin in the Trevi Fountain) this is the first thing we will book so Guy can introduce us to even more great Italian wine!!

This was one of my all time favorite days!! We spent the day touring and tasting at 2 wineries with Gaetano. Gaetano was engaging, charming and knowledgeable. We learned and laughed all day. The wineries were stunning and wine was amazing. It was so relaxed and unhurried. Please book this tour you won’t be be disappointed! It will forever be one of my favorite memories!!!

Gaetano made my visit to my grandfather’s hometown of Montemiletto one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I could only provide him with my grandfather’s name and year of birth and had no knowledge of any family in the area. Through his genealogical research and local contacts, he not only found many family members in the area but also traced my ancestry back to my great great grandfather. He contacted my cousins in the area, arranged meetings with my family and drove me wherever I need to go in the area to meet them. In addition to his genealogical research Gaetano is an excellent tour guide. Spending a day with him touring the area, explaining local history and customs was an added bonus. A trip to the Buffalo Mozzarella Cheese factory for lunch (a must if you’re in the area) and stops at the local wineries topped off a perfect trip. Gaetano treats his clients like family and after spending time with him you’ll think of him as family too. Already have plans to go back next year.

We had a very good experience with Gaetano Petrillo during our trip to Amalfi Coast, Ravello and Salerno. He was always discreet, friendly, helpful and always on time. His car was always clean. He always wanted to offer the best service for us and to make our trip as safe and comfortable as it could be. We felt very good with his calm and concentrated driving skills - especially in the curvy roads of Amalfi. Absolutely loved our recent tour with Gaetano. Totally professional from the second he picked up until the second he dropped us. Always honest and upfront. Easily the best driver of South Italy.😀👍

The wine and cheese tasting was one of the biggest highlights for our vacation! The tastings were outside the touristy places. Which allowed us to view the beautiful greens Italy has to offer! Our guide, Guy was absolutely amazing and very knowledgeable! The tastings were amazing! Adelina had the best salami and bruschetta I have ever had! Cannot forget the olive oil, had to bring a bottle home with me. The private tour made it more special! 1 more thing to add, we were able to have wine shipped to the US! Thank you, Guy.
