          An Unforgettable Rioja Tour
We loved our time with Jose. There would have been room for others on our tour, but it ended up being just me, my husband, and my parents. Jose took into account our preferences for wineries, but was knowledgable about what was open when so we never ran into issues with something being closed. We hit Luis Canas, a wine bar, various picture opp stops, a castle, and ended at Luis's winery for lunch in as advertised a barrel. It was an amazing day filled with fantastic wine and food.

Most Authentic Wine Tour/Travel in La Rioja (and the best)
This was the best day of our trip in Spain!! José picked us up on time and our day with him was amazing! He is so knowledgeable and really made our day special. We went to visit 3 great wineries and got to taste so many varieties of wine. The best part of our day was to visit José’s own bodega, where we had an amazing dinner with paella and we even shed a tear watching their bodega video. I would recommend this over a well-advertised company because this one is very unique and personalized. 10/10.

          Half day tour
My wife and I took the 1/2 day wine tour including lunch. It was enjoyable and informative. We are from Australia and don't know that much about Rioja wines. Now we know a lot more, thanks to Jose. The lunch was excellent and the wine tastings were good too. The most interesting part is the story and progress of Jose's winery. I would recommend this tour to anyone going to Logrono and is interested in Rioja wine and it's history.

          Amazing wine tasting!
Jose was amazing and so much fun. He was extremely informative and we learned so much about Rioja wines! He also prepared an amazing lunch for us and we got to taste his delicious wines. It was by far one of the highlights of our entire Spain trip. Highly recommend!

          The best ever trip
Recently my wife surprised me with a trip to Rioja for a birthday surprise which involved spending a day doing a wine tasting trip with Rioja Tasting Travel. Jose picked the eight of us up from our villa on time and it was easy to see how passionate this guy is about making your trip interesting and enjoyable. He was very knowledgeable about the way wine is produced and on our journey to the first vin yard explained many of the techniques used. We went on to do several tastings but he saved the best until the end. We ended the trip at his own winery which is an old winery that had ceased being used but one that he and his wife have renovated and made into a magical place to finish this trip. He explained how wine was made there many years ago. We had dinner in a barrel and his wife made us a delicious paella. Jose then proceeded to cook other delights for us on an open fire and you truly feel like being an honoured guest in his special place. I cannot put into words what a great day we had only to say it is a must do trip if you are in this area and that you will not be disappointed. Thanks again Jose and your lovely family for making my birthday so memorable.

          Amazing!
What a special day we had with Jose! He is truly an expert on Rioja wines and takes great pride in the region. We visited two wineries and then spent the remainder of the day having a unforgettable lunch and tasting at Jose’s winery. The food, the surroundings and Jose, his wife and son made the day a true highlight of our trip.

          Best Wine Tasting Experience, Period!!
My wife and I have been on dozens of wine tasting trips and this was by far the best. The highlight of the tour is visiting José's winery and cave, so don't spend too long at the others 😉. José and his wife Yosune treated us to a fantastic lunch, tour of their beautifully restored winery, and of course more wine! Will definitely recommend to any of our friends/family traveling to the Rioja wine region.

          Incredible wine tour Rioja
Myself and my boyfriend booked a full day tour with Jose. Jose organized all the arrangements and we were not disappointed. The wine tour was incredible and Jose knowledge of the region and its history was extensive. Jose & his wife are both amazing host and people and made the day unforgettable, the best tour we have ever done. Thank you so much for the incredible day and was great to meet up for drinks after, we can’t wait to meet up again soon when we’re back in Rioja.

Excellent wine tour - highly recommended!!
Having read all the excellent reviews we thought this sounded like our kind of tour and it met and exceeded our expectations. The initial correspondence with José was clear and informative. He picked us up from our hotel in Logrono for the full day tour. This included visits to three commercial wineries and a delicious lunch at his own restored winery. The whole day was enjoyable and relaxed. It felt more like being shown round by a friend than a tour guide. Highly recommended!!

          Simply the best😋🍷😋🍷
I honestly do not know where to begin as have done small winery tours before in Italy but seriously people this is the best of the best. You are picked up at your Hotel by Jose in his spacious, clean & aircon van where there is water & snacks if needed. In total we did 5 wineries which included his own. It was so good to have Jose to navigate us through the tastings. Before you go downstairs Jose plays the video explaining how he has restored this winery & the history attached to the area. The highlight for us & the other young American couple was lunch at his restored historic winery. We were served lunch in the fermentation wine barrel. This was cooked by his lovely wife who makes you so welcome. Cheese & meat with wine is served whilst talking to Jose everything wine. This is followed by a huge pot of very welcome vegetables with artichokes, roast lamb cutlets (which Jose has cooked in the fire n the cellar) salad, bread and loads more wine from his winery La Bodega del Tesoro, lastly delicious pastries & cherries from the neighbour. We were then off across the road to another winemaker/farmer unfortunately I cannot remember her name to hear her story on winemaking & taste her delicious wine Pretium is her label. Blew us all away walking down to her cellar which were built around 1881 in fact all the wineries including Jose were built then. Our last stop was the winery Marques de Riscal where we had more tastings (we chose to come back here the next day for a tour of their winery). The whole day was extremely formative as Jose explained the history of the region. The tour was approx 8 hours in total & again I cannot express how much we enjoyed our day. Thank you Jose & please pass on our kind regards to your beautiful wife. It was also a great treat in meeting your little boy. Our regards Chris & Karen🍷

          Memorable tour!
Rioja Tasting Travel was recommended by a friend during his travel to Logroño, and it exceeded our expectation! This was by far the highlight of our three-week Spain vacation. José, the owner, picked us up at our hotel and spent part of the morning driving in the country and educating us on the wine making history and industry in the region, stopping in a few places showing us the different ways vines are laid out on the lots (orientation, altitude, types of soil, etc.). It was very educational. Of course, we had the opportunity to visit two wine shops (Bodegas) and tasting their wines. The size of wine samples are reasonable (large in Canadian standard) so there was enough poured in the glasses to truly taste and compare the samples. The last stop was at José’s own shop, an ancient wine making building that he renovated, where we had an amazing lunch (and more wine) in an old wine barrel. This was the highlight of the tour. In summary, this tour was highly educative and created a memorable experience. If you go to Spain, like nice wines, and want a one-of-a-kind experience, include Rioja Tasting Travel in your plan.

          A day to remember!
Jose was easy to contact and picked us up from our Airbnb in Logrono. We felt comfortable right from the start. He had snacks and water in the van and gave us a scenic tour of the region while explaining all of the varieties of wine from the region. He took us to 2 wineries and ordered for us, was nice to not have to worry about language barrier! The last stop was his own winery where we met his wife and they cooked lunch for us. This was definitely the best part of the day! The food was seriously amazing and the wine was so good we had to buy 2 bottles to bring home!

          Fantastic wine tour
We spent a very enjoyable four hours or so in Jose's company. He picked us up from our Airbnb—it was just the two of us on the tour that day—and, as we drove, talked to us about the region, how it's divided both politically and from a wine perspective, and the different grapes and types of wine that is made in Rioja. After a short stop next to some of the vines, we drove on to a number of wineries including Jose's own. The wines were all excellent—there was opportunity to buy at each tasting—and Jose was a superb guide. We chose the version of the tour without lunch (various snacks were included along the way) but I have no doubt that lunch would have been a great addition.

          Amazing wine tour & Lunch
First of all Jose was an amazing guide. After a short email exchange to confirm the reservation he picked us up in Logrono, and took us around to three wineries (half day tour w/lunch). The views on the drive were spectacular, and Jose was very knowledgeable regarding wines and the region. The real treat, however, started after the first two wineries, when Jose took us to his own winery. As opposed to being a tourist trap, he showed us his meticulously restored Boteja and cave, and then cooked us a phenomenal meal of local dishes. All while sampling his and other local wines. For an incredible local experience I highly recommend Jose.

We loved this tour! Jose is so knowledgeable and passionate about Rioja, preserving its history, and sharing it with travelers like us!

We went to two great wineries, Rioja Alta and Muga, and then to his own space. It was the most unique and personal experience we have had and a true highlight of the trip.

This was an incredible wine tour and day spent learning about Rioja wines and seeing the area. Highly recommend it for all -- wine lovers to novices will each find something to appreciate about this experience. We've done many wine tastings and tours around the world, and this was hands down our favorite from learning about the earth and landscape the region has before we tasted any vino to the delicious lunch and meeting Jose and his lovely family. Do it! You won't regret it!

One of the highlights of our entire trip! We had an amazing day with Jose and his family. We ate amazing food cooked by Jose's beautiful wife. We had delicious wine from different wineries in the area to include Jose's family Bodega. More importantly Jose reminds us how important it is to preserve history and culture but also share that with others!

This is actually our second Tour with Jose (Wine Taste Lovers). My husband and I first travelled to Rioja in September of 2016 and went on an amazing wine tour with Jose. He taught us so much about Rioja wine, brought us to great wineries, and served us an amazing lunch (which had been prepared by his wife) in a cave. As wine lovers we always seek out a winery or a wine tour when we travel, our day with Jose has been the bar for which all of our subsequent adventures have been compared. We were fortunate enough to travel back to Logrono last month and experience another amazing day with Jose. He took us to different wineries than our prior tour and spent time reminding us of what we had forgotten and teaching us new gems about Rioja wines. Lunch was again an unforgettable experience, inside of a wine barrel at the Bodega he now owns. The food was amazing, rated the best meal of our trip by our entire party. We look forward to traveling to Rioja again and will of course seek out Jose.

If you have a day in Logroño then you have to do this tour. The most amazing experience with the kindest and knowledgeable husband and wife team. Jose took his time explaining the wine experience as we visited wineries. The best experience of all is having lunch at his winery. He and his wife cooked as we discussed wine in the most fabulous setting. His winery is beautiful and I cannot recommend this enough. It was an amazing time and not to be missed.

OK, I drink a lot of wine. I know good wine from OK wine. This guy showed me things I did not know. Every winery that he took me to had awesome wine. He showed where the wine was grown:m; and wine was processed; and the history of the area. Seen some similar things in Napa, but not like this! This was a true gourmet experience and the couple that went with us…..well we lucked out on that! Book this if you can. It’s special!

We had a fantastic day! We went to four different wineries with well selected wines to taste, some stops along the way to tell the story of the area and a truly amazing lunch to cap it off. Jose, our guide, was really knowledgeable and welcoming. And we still want his wife's potato and chorizo stew recipe. Would recommend this tour to anyone.

Amazing day with Juan Manuel, visiting and tasting the wines and vineyards of the Rioja region. We received a full history of the region, it’s geography, the grapes, the wines and the foods from our guide Juan and the hosts at each vineyard we visited. Spectacular countryside, beautiful vineyards and great Rioja wines that we tasted and consumed rather heavily. Juan takes you through several gorgeous towns finally at the end of day we stopped at his newly converted winery, which we toured and then had a wonderful meal inside a huge winecask. We made it back to Logrono, groggy and overjoyed by the experience. This tour is well worth the expense. Don’t waste your time if you don’t like wine and learning a lot about them. We enjoy doing both and we had the most wonderful time. I highly recommend this tour.

A great authentic experience with a very passionate local enthusiast! We started a bit slow with the local wineries tastings that to be honest we weren’t very impressed with, but then we went to the plots and drive through them leaning a lot about local traditions and challenges, and more. The last part of the experience was the most surprising and impressive. We won’t spoil the surprise for those who shoes to take this trip, but we highly recommend it! It was very special!

My wife and I reserved a tour on a fall Friday. Jose confirmed and little did we know it may have been the best private tour we’ve taken in a decade! He picked ya up at our hotel on time. Drove us all over Rioja, to many wineries, small towns, hidden gems, a private wine tasting as well. During the day he explained more than most graduate classes in history, geography, business, marketing and philosophy. Answered every question, or the three of us sought it out. Tasted many different grapes, wines and such. Truly an amazing experience. Truly a great tour. Jose has our back! Enjoy.
