- marktraynor0 contributionsA must stopThe castle is picture perfect and we recommend taking the horse drawn cart to top. The views from the top are amazing and it’s definitely worth the driveWritten 9 November 2024
- lisamX9556VQ0 contributionsA tour for "non-tour-group" people. The price is a little bit on the high side - but that is the price we paid for not booking tickets to visit Neuschwanstein early enough on our own. On the plus side-we didn't have to stress at all about how to get to our destination. Those details were all taken care of for us. We just got to focus on enjoying the trip and the castle. Communication came via email and text (we don't have WhatsApp) and was easy to understand. The price included our rail trip from Munich Central station to a small town where our driver / guide picked us up in a mini-van. Lhado - was extremely warm and friendly. He provided a lot of information on our drive to the castle. He provided water for our walk up to the castle and tickets were issued that included a live guided tour. That tour was brief but very interesting. Walking the grounds was amazing. Lhado and his lovely wife picked us up at our meeting spot right on time and got us back to the train station. They sent us on our way with a Barvarian pretzel. Lhado even walked us right to the train platform to be sure we got on the right train back to Munich. It was just my husband and me on this trip. We are not ones for big "tour groups". We were left to do our own thing so this pared down approach worked perfectly for us.Written 30 October 2024
- 178donnak0 contributionsNot as described, but still goodFirst the PROS of our tour. The tour was very convenient, and the logistics were seamless. Our guide was friendly and informative. We took the Skip the Line: Half day Tour from Füssen. Although it states half day it really is a full day. Next the CONS of our tour. The price on the website stated 189€, but when we tried to book the price changed to 250€. We never got a reasonable explanation for this. You only see Hohenschwangau Castle from a distance. A tour of the castle isn’t actually included. There is no scheduled stop in Oberammergau, only a drive through. We did convince our guide to stop for 10 minutes so we could pop into one of the wood carving shops. The tour description makes it seem like you have stops in these locations in addition to Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Castles. Beware of what you are truly getting with this tour.Written 26 October 2024

- 413travelwell0 contributionsRent Ride E-Mtb to the castle!First of all Ignore anyone or any review that says to skip this tour. This is an amazing tour of a beautiful castle and beautiful Fussen! One important tip-Don’t Walk to the castle unless you really are a hiker/walker and you really want a work out. Go to Hohenschwangau and take the shuttle! This takes you to a spot where you get off and have to walk. It’s a short walk-but up a steep up hill. Also remember the castle has a lot of stairs. So save your energy and trust me when I say don’t walk-take the shuttle! We saw so many unprepared, already exhausted people walking from very far away, I don’t think they realized how far away the castle was. Other Tips- from 55-57 year old fit couple experienced with E-MTN bikes. Go stay in Fussen the day/night before you tour the castle. Pre-book the first possible tour on line with print at home option. Doing this you will miss the massive crowds and enjoy a quicker and smaller tour. Also going the evening before to Fussen gives you a chance to have a beautiful ride around lake Forggensee, and take in the beauty of Fussen. Make sure to Rent an e-MTN bike in town from local bike shop Not city bike from train station. It is the same cost for a much better bike and equipment. The hill climb to the castle is gravel/dirt and steep but can be done with E-MTB. At the top Bike does have to be left for a short walking path to castle. We loved this and had the best time!Written 9 September 2024
- DanielS2020 contributionsWonderful and magical experienceThe castle is simply stunning!! We had prebooked our tickets for an English speaking tour group. Parking at the little village, we then walked 20mins up the path to reach the entrance. You can do a bus or horse carriage tour as well if inclined. Note that the tour groups leave promptly, so you must be there for your time!! The castle is also undergoing renovation so some of the rooms are closed off, or you can only peer in through the doors for some rooms. However we saw enough of the castle to be mesmerized. It is amazing to see what was built, and it doesn't appear that any expense was spared! While in the area we also visited the suspension bridge, which was pretty busy with everyone taking selfies. We pushed through to the other side of the bridge and it was worth it as we had more space. We visited the area especially to see the castle, and were not disappointed.Written 22 April 2024
- amitm1210 contributionsVery good tour worth visitWe went for this tour with our guide Marin . Before we reach castle , we went to suspension bridge , although very scary but was good fun . Our guide was very knowledgeable and helpful . He explained the entire history very well . He helped us to take pictures on the road in snow and still reach to castle on time . The castle visit in Germany was very good . Although it was very chilly there but we had a lot of fun . We will recommend this tour to everyone .Written 6 January 2024
- calta50 contributionsOverall very goodOverall good experience. Friendly person to organize travel. Castle was beautiful. You take a train and then get moved to a van. Sitting in third row wasn’t that pleasant and couldn’t see anything out the windows. Other than that, the experience was very good.Written 19 December 2023
- donhE5270WA0 contributionsGreat Castle CollectionWe took this tour in late November on a snowy day and it was magical. Our driver was fantastic. He drove us all over and made sure we got to the right spot for the tours. He had all our tickets ready and made sure we knew where we were going and where to meet after our tours. We had free time in Oberammergau and did some exploring and bought some souvenirs. While we were driving our driver explained the locations and some of the history. We had enough time at Neuschwanstein to get some lunch. Our driver had our tickets ready and explained how to get up to the entrance and what time our tour was. We walked and it only took us around 25 minutes not the 45 minutes in the brochure. The audio tour was very informative. Overall this is a great stress free day. One clarification is that the driver is a driver that provides directions and some history but is not a guide and does not accompany you on the tours.”Written 29 November 2023

- astridwG6732DH0 contributionsDisapointing concerning the priceThe trip to the castle was good. We made it on Monday 16 oct. 2023. The problem is we booked the trip and pay plm. 90,00 euro. The tickets we've got were priced 14.00 euro each ( student price)? Total 28,00 euro Who has made this enormous profit.Written 20 October 2023
- C2323JDlindsayl0 contributionsGreat castle, crappy bikes. The castle itself was amazing, but the bikes are dangerous and a joke to rent. One of my brakes was completely broken and I was stuck in first gear. My husband also couldn’t change gears and his bike was shaking the whole time he rode. We are very active cyclists and couldn’t believe they rent bikes in this condition.Written 30 September 2023
- juliedove550 contributionsDisappointedTruthfully, I was a little disappointed. Not with the castle, but with the whole process. From the description We were expecting a guided tour. We got someone who met us at the train station and got us to transfer, then we were given directions to get our tickets for transfer to the castle. Went through the castle on an audio tour and felt like we were just herded through. Definitely not worth the $174 per person. Maybe during the summer it might be worth it, but otherwise just go on your ownWritten 28 September 2023
- Y2521QMjosephw0 contributionsWonderful peopleI was unable to get ahold of the local cab company, and wound up being very late. Although it was too late to bike to the castle, the hosts were very kind to provide me with a ticket and a ride to the castle. Very kind and understanding, and I was incredibly grateful for their willingness to go above and beyond.Written 27 September 2023

I enjoyed learning some history of this castle. However, I wish we would have just bought tickets on site instead of paying this company for "skip the line tickets". When I arrived to pick up our tickets they charged me an extra €10 for an infant ticket. Even though the neuschwanstein website said children are free. We paid €33/person to "skip the line", but when we arrived at 10:00 there was like 3 people in line. We would've saved over €30 just by buying our tickets there instead. If I were to recommend to a friend I would say to go early in the day (b/w 9 and 10) and just buy your tickets there. We were toured for 35 minutes through less than 1/3 of the castle. If you're going for the insta worthy pics then you'll enjoy it. If you want history, then go to another castle...

This is a wonderful castle for a tour. The area where you park is around a five minute walk to the ticket office, and the pickup location for the horse carriages and shuttle bus is right by the ticket office. You pay the shuttle bus driver or the horse carriage driver directly. The horse carriages were loaded with 12 people, which seemed too much for the steep hill that the horses have to climb. The horse carriage drops you at a point where you still need to walk about another 15 minutes up to the castle entrance, and then you need to show your ticket to get into the courtyard, and then wait in the courtyard for your specific tour number to be called. There are no photos or movies allowed in the castle so you can only take pictures from the outside. Since the castle was never finished, and only lived in for about six months, everything in the castle that is shown appears to be in great condition. When you first enter the castle, you have to walk up about 100 stairs up a spiral staircase, so you need to be in pretty good shape to be able to do that. After that, there are two more flights of stairs That need to be claimed at various stages in the tour. The complete tour takes about 40 minutes. After the tour, you can take a horse carriage, shuttle, or walk down the mountain to the ticket office, and it takes around 30 minutes by foot. It is a very pretty walk through the forest down to the bottom.

The main (only real) reason for buying this was that I was late getting my itinerary finalized and needed several tickets for Neuschwanstein for a particular day.
At the end of the day, I paid $40+ each for €15 tickets and advice I could have got from (and did check with) the hotel front desk.
Communications were not easy and I was a little anxious on the day itself . I booked the trip; then needed to confirm that I could pick up the tickets by 9am; then was told the day before that I could choose between a 10:20 tour and pick up tickets by 8:45am or an 11:30 tour and pick up by 9:45; with no confirmation they had my selection; and ultimately with no real knowledge as to what I would get.
What I did get - and to be fair what I had really paid for - were just tickets to the castle and the advice the front desk could have provided. It was an expensive option for if you can’t book tickets directly but at least it did work.

It took is more than 4 hours to drive from Salzburg, therefore instead of reaching one and a half hour before the tour, we only reached 30 minutes before. Then we had to Park the car, walk up till the bus station, buy the bus tickets, queue again, once we reached the bus terminal, walk another 10 to 15 minutes until the entrance to be denied access as we were 15 minutes late to our booking that was for 3 pm. Luckily the lady at the information desk accepted to make us join the guided tour of 3.30 which allowed us to visit the castle which is more interesting and impressive from the outside as the inside wasn’t worth the hassle we went through to do the visit

I was annoyed that I couldn't get tickets online from the ticket office so the only way I could go was by paying 4 times the value of a ticket from the neuschwanstein ticket office which meant rather than paying 15 euros for 1 ticket and 1 child I paid 4 times this amount. Ticket office next had spaces 24th August, book well in advance via the ticket office. The guide is an audio guide same as you get when booking through the castle ticket office

Various car parks at a cost of 10 euros, in the square in front of the car park there is the info office, paid toilets (1 euro) and the bus stop.
Taking a small climb you will find a bus stop on the right that takes you to the castle, and on the left the carriage with two horses (like the carriage of the west) which also takes you to the castle, cost of uphill journey 8 euros, return 4.
The carriage almost arrives at the castle, you still have to go uphill a little, but in the meantime take a photo of the castle! Bus goes up to the foot of the castle.
Castle entrance 18 euros to be booked online, English and German guide only in groups.
Attention to those who cannot make the descent on foot... at a certain time there are no longer any services, unfortunately I don't know the times.
There are souvenir shops and bars at really fair prices. Bar (a strudel with ice cream, 1 coke, 1 orange soda 17 euros, considering the place...)

We set off to visit Neuschwanstein (the ‘fairy tale’ castle) built by ‘mad king Ludwig’ in the 1800’s.
Given its popularity, it is quite a process to enter, with pre-booked time slots required …. so ‘be there or lose it’.
Arriving early we had the opportunity to take a horse-drawn sled through the wooded path up to the castle gates and court yard; where we waited for our tour time slot.
Afterwards we walked further up the mountain to a suspension bridge, for a different perspective of the castle.
Then around the lake below - the bluey green water and surrounding mountains, reminding us a little of Lake Louise in Canada.

At a hotel, we got tickets where the owner enthusiastically explained various tour options, how to take the bus, and more. They even proactively asked if we had any questions when we were on our car. So, even though the prices are slightly higher than on the official website, if the official website is sold out and you really want to go, there is still hope to book tickets here.

Very misleading - you think you buy the ticket until 9:00, but you must first pick up the ticket at 9:00 at a hostel where you are in a long queue waiting
Then you have to get into the palace's parking spaces and put the car in the swirls at the parking spaces - it costs just extra - then stand in low line to take up the bus (which costs 3.5 euros Per man up again) - stand as close as in the Japanese metro while the bus overturns around so people overturn in each other.
Then there is just a good courtyard walk up to the viewing bridge or down towards the castle.
Then the ticket is valid only from 11:30 - you can only enter the castle place 45 minutes before, and there you are then in line until you have to enter the battle through the ticket door.
You get an audio guide at the entrance and then there is another 25 minute guided tour through some of the castle where you will rub the mush and follow with the group.
The castle was good but everything else was bad - a huge tourist trap.
Fortunately you just walk down afterwards and drop the bus - it takes about 20 min down the hill.

The castle, both inside and outside is beautiful. I have done many castle tours and this one was lack luster. You are only shown between 25 and 30% of the castle, there are no pictures allowed inside, and the audio tour was very impersonal. If you do decide to see it, I recommend getting an actual tour, not audio and spending the €4 per person to ride the horse carriage. It's a 40 minute climb up the side of a mountain for a 20 minute tour. It was definitely not worth the price paid for the ticket.

Thank you in advance

Trying to understand about a combination ticket. It says you visit Hohenschwangau castle first then Neuschwanstein Castle. Do they give you the times for each? How much time do they give you in between to get from one castle to the next? We would like to visit Neuschwanstein Castle first, can this be done?
