Neuschwanstein Castle Small-Group Day Tour from Munich

Select Date and Travellers
2 travellers
The enchanting old-world town of Fussen lies in the foot hills of the Alps, framed by one of the most breathtaking natural settings in the world. Traveling with your small group guided tour from Munich, you'll tour the ethereal Neuschwanstein Castle, be taken to the best vantage points; the lake, the postcard-perfect aerial view of the equally beautiful Hohenschwangau Castle and to the waterfall gorge.
  • Skip driving for a round-trip train or coach ride from Munich
  • Option for a horse-drawn carriage ride up the hill to the castle
  • Save time spent waiting in the admission queue with skip-the-line access
  • Mingle with your guide and other castle visitors during your train ride
  • Learn about the folly of “Mad” King Ludwig II during your guided tour
What to Expect
Begin your tour with a roughly 2-hour train ride from Munich through the German countryside to Fussen. Note that the train is seasonal, offered during January through April and mid-October through November, and you’ll be traveling by coach otherwise. When you arrive, walk 20 minutes up the hill to the castle or opt for a carriage ride. The price of the tour doesn’t include your castle entrance fee, but you can pay it directly to the tour company on the day of your visit. And by booking in advance, you’ll receive skip-the-line access. Visit the castle interiors and towers, and get the photo ops and views of surrounding attractions including a lake, waterfall gorge, and Hohenschwangau Castle. Listen while your guide tells stories about the tragic reign of the “mad” 19th-century Bavarian king who commissioned the building of the castle. Finish the day with a return ride back to Munich.

Exterior and walking around the grounds were Visually gorgeous. The inside tour was too short and the tour guide was listless. The inside was interesting to view but the narration needs to improve a lot and lengthen.

Had a great time with Timothy and Josh on this tour. Timothy led the group my wife and I were in and really knew a lot about the castle and family itself.

Amazing hospitality by Josh. Very punctual we covered so much we couldn't have done on our own. Josh was very kind and attentive to small little details and personalised attention to each passenger. Thanks Josh
