One of our absolute favorite stops during our French adventure. The Foundation offers a fantastic collection of modern art! It’s easy to drive to and ample parking make visiting here convenient. Much of the larger sculptures are located outdoors and the very natural setting makes a visit here refreshing. I love Alberto Giacometti’s exquisite and gracefully attenuated sculptures and their collection of his works is nothing short of amazing. While we visited, they also had on display the works of his father, a cousin, and two brothers. A visual abbondonza! The Giacometti sculptures here are truly extraordinary: the dog, the cat, tall figures, and an incredible collection of women. And with so few people inside, it was great having the time to really absorb and focus on the works without noisy crowds. The Maeght Foundation is such a wonderful destination, be sure to visit!

We felt like it cost too much for what it was. 32€ for the two of us. The special exhibit was interesting but there wasn’t much of the private collection to see…..maybe three dozen. The building and setting are interesting and beautiful. The QR code’s on the art works were not working properly and there are no audio guides. If you are in the area go to the Musee Renoir in Cagnes-Sur-Mer. It is WONDERFUL!

A super museum dedicated to modern art which has an excellent display of sculptures in the gardens and a changing exhibition inside. Personally I thought it was worth every penny and definitely worth the detour. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. I had one quibble which was that the otherwise excellent shop did not seem to have much associated with the exhibition itself and I really wanted to buy some prints or art work specifically related to some of the pieces on display.
There are two car parks, one at the bottom of the hill. Do not despair at the very steep walk as there appears to be a little shuttle that takes you up to the main house.

A fabulous building - with fantastic sculptures by Miro - as well an a superlative exhibit of wonderful art by the Giacometti family. A true must see. Also just a half mile away from the very charming hilltop town of Sainte Paul de Vence. Get there by 11 am if you do not want to park in the lower parking lot - or can drop off folks at the upper lot and museum if you are later.

We bought “Skip the Line” tickets on TripAdvisor. We arrived with our electronic tickets and were told we’d have to wait in line at the ticket window to exchange our electronic tickets for paper tickets. The line was long and no one was respecting distancing measures. (People were wearing masks.) Why does the Fondation Maeght website provide a link to TripAdvisor in order to buy no-wait tickets when you have to wait in line no matter what?

Dear visitor, we are sorry you did not have a good experience at the Foundation. There is usually no line to get into the Foundation but attendance in the past couple weeks has been surprisingly high. We have taken good note of your comment and have since created a separate line for Trip Advisor ticket holders and Société des Amis members. We have also increased enforcement of sanitary measures to keep visitors and staff safe and healthy. We hope that except for the line at the entrance, you have enjoyed your visit at the Foundation and will come back soon.

This is a silly option, as buying the tickets here online did not help us avoid any queue at all. We were still required to go to the ticket office, show our phone with the online tickets and have one printed to show at the door of the museum. So no point at all. There was no queue At the ticket office anyway, though.
Forget this option, just go!

Dear visitor, thank you for your comment. There is indeed usually no line at the entrance so online bookings are not really necessary. It is nonetheless a appreciated feature by our visitors who like to plan ahead their visit. We hope you have appreciated your visit regardless of this small issue.

If you’re a fan of mid century architecture, then the building alone is worth the visit. The grounds and landscaping are also wonderful. There is so much attention to detail, even the doorhandles, exterior lights and garden café furniture were designed by Alberto Giacometti and his brother. There are some wonderful murals and artworks permanently built into the space, and the collection in the garden is a fabulous welcome.

As you’d expect, the 20 century art inside is amazing. The permanent collection is wonderful, and when we visited, the temporary exhibition in that season was Juan Miro, it was beautifully curated and packed to the gills. The natural light flood in the gallery shows all the exhibits off beautifully.

There is a lovely café in the grounds where we had lunch, but you’re a short stroll from Saint Paul de Vence, where you can also eat well and is a lovely ‘must see’ town in the area.

Parking is either in the grounds, and an overspill carpark on the left as you drive up the hill from the village towards the gallery. Worth parking there if you intend to visit both.

Was disappointed that the museum was 99% dedicated to the work of a single artist. However, it’s a nice place with pretty grounds.

We visited Foundation Maeght on the recommendation of a friend. We travelled with the bus from Nice to St. Paul de Vence which is an old town on top of a hill, very touristic even during October but is a must. Stunning views from the walls - not easy to walk, small high-up walking strip on the inside of the wall with no protection from falling. So, only for those that are brave, young enough and fit... But the view is fantastic. The town is full of all sorts of art- and giftshops. We were done with this visit within 2 hrs and walked to the Fondation Maeght which is on another hill about 2 km away from St. Paul.
The foundation exhibits the most complete Miro collection - paintings and sculptures that we have seen in an environment unseen before. High pines, olive trees, stone walls surround the magnificent buildings that host the paintings of Miro, Chagall, the sculptures of Miro and Giaccometti. Not many people were with us, so we had exclusive views and could take photos. The place has a unique atmosphere, magic and beautiful. We enjoyed the place for 3 hrs and took the bus down to Nice, Place Phoenix. We are very happy we did this tour. It is a must for people that love art, beautiful landscape and a peaceful environment.

Great Foundation specially as we admire Miro’s work. The amount of art displayed in and out were just amazing. The building where his art is displayed is well distributed, giving us a good flowing sensation.
Great space to visit right next to a beautiful medieval town.
