        Yumi Tours review
Vincent and Julian! What champions! Thank you both so much for all of our Tours. Yumi tours was by far the smoothest and most organised tour company i have ever used. These guys went above and beyond what my friends and I were expecting of them. Not only did we experience Pele Island and snorkelling at top Rock, we learned about the culture and history of vanuatu! I wish I could give them 10/5 stars. Next time I'm in Port Vila I will be seeing these 2 again. Book Yumi Tours and support these legends!

        Fantastic tour
Fantastic! All three spots included were magical. Snorkellling at Hideaway was amazing. Blue lagoon was so much fun. The lunch and swim at Eden in the rapids was a great way to top it off. Could easily have spent another couple of hours at Blue lagoon. Our guide and drivers were super friendly and informative. Can’t rate this high enough!

        Swimming, fish-spotting & more
Enjoyed this tour with pick-up on time and travelling with one other family so we weren’t squished in the van. The tour guide was knowledgeable and provided great info during the drive which was air conditioned. Hideaway Island was beautiful and not busy at all. There was a cost to hire snorkel masks, flippers and you could purchase a postcard. Unfortunately the masks kept leaking water so I recommend buying/bringing your own. We didn’t get flippers but you’ll definitely need them to get down to the underwater post office as I was super buoyant. There was a bar where you could get food and drinks but a minimum for card so bring cash. We spent an hour here before heading to Eden on the River. Eden on the River was nice but signage is difficult to spot as you’re given time to do your own thing. We hiked to the falls to get some photos. Lunch was great with a complimentary drink. We also enjoyed seeing a lot of dogs here to pat. Last was the Blue Lagoon where there was a place to change and we got to spend a bit over an hour here. It was a bit of fun jumping in but always go feet first as bits are shallow. Be careful not to swallow any water as my husband accidentally did when jumping in and believe this is how he got gastro. Overall Yumi Tours was great and provided us with a convenient way to see some major attractions.

Found our bus driver quickly after walking out after customs clearance. We were the only couple on the bus and the driver was friendly. Great price and felt safe. He was also helpful with loading/unloading baggage.

        Dishonest and Unreliable Transport Service
I booked a hotel pickup with Yumi Tours 10 days in advance for 1:30 PM on 11 Jan, as agreed. On 10 Jan, they contacted me at 3 PM to say they only had one driver and insisted I leave at 12:15 PM instead. My flight wasn’t until 3:15 PM, and there’s nothing to do at the airport for that long. I requested any time after 1 PM, but they refused and threatened to refund me if I didn’t agree. I didn’t have any more VUV to arrange alternate transport, so I had no choice but to accept. To make matters worse, they lied to Agoda, claiming bad road conditions. In reality, I was picked up at 12:50 PM, reached the airport by 1:12 PM, and ended up wasting 2 hours at the airport doing absolutely nothing. Don’t rely on their service—unprofessional, dishonest, and extremely bad attitude.

        I don't recommend it
The experience was not as described. The quad bikes was only a small circuit with no stop at "Grand Cascade Lookout" which was in the description. My bike didn't idle and stalled everytime we stopped if i didnt quickly put it in neutral and rev it, which the organisers didn't seem to care about. We were left there on our own, as our bus headed elsewhere and then had to sit in the shed for 45mins after to wait for it to come back. And the communication was really poor, the driver didn't know which tour we had booked, we were removed from the bus we were originally on and then put on annother one and no seemed to know where we were going! I did get offerred a refund before we started but then what would we do with no transport and nothing else booked (as we got off our cruise ship for a day at port). Terrible orgainisation, I wouldn't recommend Yumi or the quad bikes.

        Vanuatu tour
We had a great day touring round with Yumi tours. Vincent was our guide and Alex was our driver extremely knowledgeable very flexible. We ended up going about six different places which included seeing the turtles going to Eden on the river, Hideaway Island, duty-free twice, the markets and blue lagoon, back to the ship by five, the best day ever.

AMAZING TOUR HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR EVERYONE.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOING WITH YUMI TOURS FOR EXCURSIONS. When we arrived to Port Villa we got off the cruise ship and Yumi Tours was very easy to find and the vehicle was big enough for 12 people and had aircon which was great as it was humid and very hot. Our tour guide Vincent was the best he was so nice and was very informative about the history of Port Villa on the way to our excursions. Before you start your excursions they do take you to the duty free shop which was great because there was no one was there. FIRST STOP- Edens river was beautiful area very green there was a little kids park there was a little shop does take AUD if you want to get a drink or some food. Beware that the stairs are really steep going down to the river and going back up to the area where you get back on the bus. There is also zip lining and tree tops you can do but does cost extra if you didn’t book prior. But overall Edens was beautiful and was very fun as you can slide down the rocks they do have floaties to slide down the rocks and into the water. SECOND STOP- Blue Lagoon was so beautiful would highly recommend go there, was kid friendly very popular spot there so many people there but was very beautiful swimming spot. Yumi Tours provided a yummy bbq lunch which was so good as after all the swimming we got really hungry overall experience was amazing. THIRD STOP- Quad bike riding would highly recommend for everyone had a really good time but would recommend wearing long pants as the parts from the quad bike were really hot and got burns on my legs and make sure you wear goggles as the tracks were dusty they do provide them also wear covered shoes. Overall Yumi Tours did such a fantastic job and were such amazing people definitely would go again with them.

This review outlines how helpful our Yumi Tour Guide, Vincent, and driver, Wato (Jack Kalsrap) were in assisting us during our recent Cascades and Cultural tour. They collected us at the International wharf and I asked Vincent and Wato if they knew of a Vanuatuan friend of mine that stayed with us in Australia 45 years ago. He studied in Melbourne for a couple of years and my brother and I had stayed with him and his family in Port Vila for 3 weeks in 1978! We had been trying to track him down via internet searches prior to our cruise, but with no success. The guides made a few phone calls to various relatives and managed to find information about our friend's family, but said that he had passed away. This was very sad, but they said that one of his sons or grandsons may be able to meet us back at the wharf later in the day. The tour started at the Port Vila duty free centre, then visited the Pepeyo Cultural village, after dropping some guests off at the Turtle area (we had to choose one or the other as was v crowded, due to the number of people from our ship on tours). The cultural show was great and educational, including fire walking and traditional music by village families. We collected the guests from the turtles, then visited the Blue Lagoon for a swim (had a nice BBQ lunch there), then Eden on the River for a walk or swim along the beautiful small river and garden. Vincent left us at Eden to take some other guests to Hideaway Island as they seemed to have mixed up two tours. We didn't see the Cascades, but it was still a good day. Another guide, Oliver, collected us from Eden and took us back to the Port Vila handicraft market, then the wharf. In the meantime, Vincent called to say that he would meet us back at the wharf to meet our friend's son. We arrived at the wharf and spoke to the relative on Vincent's phone, but realised this was our friend's brother. I asked him what had happened to our friend and he said he was in town - not dead! We were overjoyed that he was alive! It seems he had the same name as his father, who had in fact died. We called him and he came straight to the wharf to meet with myself, my husband and brother for a short time before our ship left! It was wonderful to see him after so many years and catch up on his family news. Vincent and Wato were so happy to help us find him. They worked very hard to assist us and we are grateful for their efforts. We had both a nice tour, visiting nature and culture, as well as seeing our friend from so long ago. All the Vanuatuans that we met on tour were friendly, happy people and we would recommend Yumi tours as providing an enjoyable tour with great guides and drivers, thanks especially to Vincent and Wato who were kind, helpful, funny, knowledgable and excellent!

Right from when Alfred and Gareth collected us from our resort we were made to feel extremely welcome and treated as a guest not a customer. It was obvious that Alfred had so much pride in his country and culture and it showed in his commentary as we travelled between stops. His commentary was educational and entertaining.
Gareth deserves special mention for his navigation of some of the “ roads “ leading to some of the attractions. The first stop was the blue lagoon and this was a wonderfully picturesque spot. My favourite part of the experience was the attacks by the tiny territorial fish letting me know that I was encroaching on their home and that I should move away. Very cute and not painful but it could give an unsuspecting swimmer a bit of a start. We then moved on the waterfalls and swimming holes which was a short walk from the carpark and set in a very scenic spot. A good tip is to walk a couple of hundred metres from the main access point to bigfala pool which had better access and which we had to ourselves. After an hour or so to cool down we moved on to the Naiwe Beach where we were able to swim with the turtles after enjoying a barbecue lunch. I was a little unsure what impact this would have on them but I kept some distance and it seemed like they were not stressed at all. This was a wonderful experience and one which I will remember for a long time. I would recommend that you have goggles and possibly a snorkel so that you can appreciate them more I didn’t and it was hard to see them until they were close to you. My wife sat up on the bank and took some great photos and probably had a better view than I did in the water.
All in all a wonderful day and one that would have hesitation in recommending to anyone looking for an authentic experience deliver by a locally owned business, thanks again Alfred and Gareth.

This is a must to experience the beauty of Vanuatu. We started at Blue Lagoon where we were almost the only ones (I think we just got lucky with timing and no cruise ships currently coming in). The turtles were our favourite part, getting to swim up close. Ending the day with a nice lunch and a swim at Eden on the River was again a worth while experience. Our driver was punctual and very kind, teaching us all about Vanuatu. We would definitely recommend this trip! Thanks Yumi Tours.

Overpriced for what you got. No real time to shop or information on where to shop ( seemed to push duty free only) The day was over by 2.30 p.m. and some of the time was spent driving people on different tours to horse riding ranches etc so in fact it was just half a day for the price it was not good value. The swim with turtles was misleading too.

Wonderful experience with fantastic and knowledgeable local tour operators. The lunch was a lovely salad and meat spread at the cascades waterfall. The operators made pickup and drop off very easy at the start and end of the day. Our two teenage girls had a fantastic day, we had a good amount of time to ourselves at each location, and it was a chill day seeing three amazing sites. At the moment there are very few tourists around (post earthquake) so we had so much space to ourselves all day. All the sites are unimpacted by the earthquakes and are very accessible. Very memorable experience

Perhaps because it was August, I was the only other participant on this private tour, but our guide, Wato, was very friendly and introduced us to a lot of things.

The Blue Lagoon was a lot of fun, and the Tarzan rope dive was amazing.

We went to the river next, and I recommend bringing marine shoes, but to be honest, it's not the kind of place you want to go in and play (because the Blue Lagoon is too much fun).

The lunch was also very filling.

I really wanted to see a Vanuatu school, so on the way back, the guide stopped by a local elementary school and let me take some photos.

It was a tour that made me fall in love with Vanuatu.

A fantastic shore excursion for anyone on a cruise. Air-conditioned bus, not necessarily in the best condition but our driver Taree (I believe that was his name) was great and was always conscious of time. All the staff we encountered were lovely and helpful. BBQ lunch was absolutely delicious. A shame our cruise departure time was scheduled so early as the destinations were very nice. The inclusion of entry to the destinations is also really helpful as you skip the lines of entry.

Ricky was very friendly and helpful which is the only reason I gave this tour two stars instead of 1.

The biggest disappointment of the tour is the Turtle "Sanctuary" which is nothing more than a tourist trap. I highly doubt there is any actual conservation conducted here and suspect the turtles are captured and kept there as entertainment. The lunch here was also inedible and consisted of a dried up chicken wing, sausage, hard steak, cold rice and stale hot chips - all of which were clearly cooked many hours earlier. Morning tea was not provided as advertised.

The "cascades" (basically a creek with a few swimming holes), and blue lagoon are pretty enough. If you want to see those I'd suggest a different tour without the turtles. Not a pleasant way to spend a day.

Ricky is certainly one of the best in the business and we appreciate your feedback. It's not the first time we receive complaints about the turtles sanctuary, we'll be conveying your feedbacks to our suppliers so that necessary improvements are carried out. Regarding lunch, we sincerely apologize about that and we'll follow up as well. With the cascades we're currently going through our dry season. As such, most of our rivers are drying up which might be what you have witnessed. These swimming holes have definitely seen better days. On our recent updates, we have taken our light refreshments (morning tea) from our inclusion reason being that post cyclones in March fruits have become scarce in our markets. We thank you for reviewing our service which will definitely help us improve our service in the future.

We had a wonderful time! It was torrentially pouring rain and Yumi tours had to switch out the cascades waterfall visit (because it was unsafe to swim) with a visit to a cultural village. We still visited the Blue Lagoon and the turtle facility. It was a great day and a very memorable experience. I can’t say enough about how wonderful and charismatic Frasier is and Stan expertly navigated the van and delivered us back to the cruise ship terminal on time. We learned a lot about Vanuatu and Port Vila through Frasier’s narration in the van. Highly recommend!
