Private Tour: Full-Day Tour to American D-Day Beaches from Bayeux
US$708.54 per adult
Overview

Normandy is a coastal region in France, site of the memorable D-Day landings of 1944. During this intimate historical tour, you’ll get a look at some of the world’s most famous battle sites, from Utah and Omaha beaches to Pointe du Hoc, learning about the role of American forces in liberating France from German occupation. Groups are capped at just seven people, guaranteeing a personalized experience.

What to Expect

Known for its military history and World War II beachfronts, Normandy served as the site of some of the war’s most memorable battles, as Americans joined the fight for France’s freedom. During this flexible, private historical tour through cemeteries and battlefronts, you’ll revisit the triumphs and losses of the formidable military campaign.

After a front-door pickup from your Bayeux hotel, you’ll travel comfortably in an air-conditioned minivan between sights in a group capped at just seven people for a personalized journey. Arriving at the battle scenes, you’ll get a close look at the infamous stretch of coastline, where so many Americans laid down their lives. Your guide will give background and context to the memorials as you retrace the steps of American soldiers.

All tours are fully customizable, so you can stick to the sights or design your own stops, and even make time for a museum excursion. Enjoy a local lunch and time to wander the medieval countryside before continuing your visit to key battle sites, where you’ll feel the impact of the heroic invasion firsthand.

Bayeux Cathedral for an evening service (Friday night is good), a short trip to see Mt. Saint Michael, we took a day drive to Honfleur and it was a great day to eat outside, enjoy the sun and watch people around the bay.

The company we used sent our guide to the train station to meet us. I think you would probably have to make that arrangement with your guide or their company.
