- looking4goodeats0 contributionsA great food tour in MontmartreMy daughter and I really enjoyed our food tour in the Montmartre area of Paris. The food was delicious but we also enjoyed hearing about the area and seeing all the sights. The food was very authentic French food, from all the different specialty shops and it was exactly what we were interested in learning about. We enjoyed the smaller group size and also really enjoyed our guide and the stories he shared. I would definitely recommend Secret Food Tours!Written 21 March 2025

- Climber252855780310 contributionsTruly sensationalin a word…Sensational!! what a totally immersive four hour food tour! Our guide, Matthew was the most hospitable, good natured guide and a power of intellect with stories of food, history and everything to bridge the two. His friendly banter was easy on the ear and he made the entire group feel cohesive and friendly. We walked and listened to many great stories about all the different foods and ate breakfast, lunch and dinner over the tour, washed down with generous pours of lovely wines. The focus is on food, not walking, the pace is sedate, unhurried, it’s perfect!! Arrive hungry and you will not be disappointed, delicious top quality quintessentially French foods, generous in portions and full in flavours. This was truly a great tour and don’t go past it as you will learn much about all the best places to drink coffee and get the very best cheeses, pastries and French foods. Superb!!Written 20 March 2025
- HChung1000 contributionsSo enjoyable!Wonderful Tour. Matthew is so informative, enthusiastic and loves French food. He made the four hours go by so quickly. We learned so much about the history of the Notre Dame, area and food. We absolutely recommend this tour!! Five stars absolutely.Written 20 March 2025
- juliemA2311VW0 contributionsBest pastry and chocolate tourWent on a fantastic chocolate and pastry tour through Montmartre with Aicha. We enjoyed the finest macarons, chocolates, creme pastries, crepes, and madeleines while Aicha shared history of the area and the desserts. Aicha was insightful and funny and the desserts truly exceptional. Can't wait to take another tour with her.Written 20 March 2025
- O6739RGelisab0 contributionsBest food tour in Paris!!!I am Italian and I believe I know a thing or two about food and wine so I was a bit sceptical at the beginning of the tour. I have to say I learned a lot about French food (especially about the origin of iconic staples like croissants, macarons, etc.). The part I enjoyed the most, though, was when Matthew, our guide, took us to a little square where all the best bakeries/cheesemongers/wine shops are. We had the opportunity to explore the shops (that are actually full of French people, not tourists) and bought some of the delicacies we had for lunch at the end of the tour. Do not be fooled by his name, Matthew grew up in France and if it wasn't for his lovely English accent he would be your typical French man who knows it all when it comes to food & wine! Super recommended!!!Written 20 March 2025
- ebk160 contributionsA treat for the senses in the MaraisWe have gone on a number of Secret Food Tours and this one was right at the top. Our guide, Ingrid, was personable, knowledgeable, and all around terrific! She shared so much information about the Marais and the food that we sampled! The menu was filled with a variety of wonderful treats! It was a terrific day which we will remember fondly.Written 19 March 2025

We visited Paris for 5 days and of course, wanted to do a food tour to taste some of the local foods that we might not have otherwise been able to try without a knowledgeable resident to guide us.
The Secret Food Tour with our tour guide Emmanuel gave us a nice sampling of some of those local favorites. The Montmartre area is a quaint artsy area of Paris and beautiful to walk around with many small shops of all types. Even though it has its share of tourists it still feels more like a small town in Paris than the main areas do, and the local shops offer more of an artisan experience.
Having Emmanuel share his knowledge and history of the area and the food (as well as France) and the benefit of his many experiences both in and out of France made the tour fun and interesting. His knowledge of French food and its local sources (Terroir, which refers to the combination of things that influence the flavors and characteristics of food and wine from a specific region) was very insightful.
The tour consists of a walk through the town with a sampling and explanation of a variety of charcuterie, cheeses, pastries, breads, and sweets from small local shops. Once you and the group have collected all the various foods along the route, you stop off at a dining room and sit with everyone and eat and talk with Emmanuel explaining the foods and their various nuances.
We enjoyed the experience, the company, and the food very much (although we were all too full to finish everything). I would recommend the tour and Emmanuel to anyone interested in sampling some local foods while in Paris.

Our tour guide Marcel was really knowledgeable about the foods, art, and history of the Montmartre area. He provided us with a couple of recommendations and tips on how to get around and he suggested a bar nearby which allowed us to connect with locals very easily. Overall great tour but the guide made it more personable. Would recommend this tour for anyone visiting a short period of time and want to learn and taste some staples of Parisian cuisine.

We had a beautiful sunny day during a mostly rainy week in Paris on my birthday which was a great start, but it got even better once Marcel showed up with his orange umbrella. He was a native Parisian who gave us a great history of Paris as a whole and Montmartre, the neighborhood where our tour took place, specifically. We started off by eating a light and fluffy mini pastry that Marcel said was the oldest pastry in France. We then started our walk which included us stopping at the best bread bakery, cheese shop and meat shop where he purchased goodies he said we would eat in a ‘secret location’ which added to the excitement of the tour. Then, it was a great moment when we entered a jewel box of a macaron and chocolate shop started by a Korean woman. Not only did they have classic flavors like chocolate and vanilla but other Asian infused flavors like pistachio wasabi chocolates and toasted sesame macarons. At the beginning of the walk, he’d called in our order for crepes- offering us four flavor choices, that we then headed off to grab. This was an award winning creperie, yet a mere closet of a storefront- I would’ve never known about the place in my whole life were it not for Marcel and the caramel crepe I ate was one of the most tender and fresh crepes I’ve eaten in my life. THEN, he brought us to the secret location, like an intimate private lunch party where we feasted on the meats, cheeses and award winning baguettes that he’d purchased earlier. These were paired with wine. As we ate, he explained which wines were paired with which cheeses and why, the order in which we should eat our meats and cheeses which was like a full class condensed into this one delicious lunch. He had the whole group wish me happy birthday, taught us how the French toast (not to be confused with French Toast lol) and despite being stuffed to the gills by now, offered us these delicious chocolate eclairs!! I was worried that this ‘tourist’ activity might be corny and pandering but Marcel had a very fine sensibility and knowledge of food and specifically, food in Montmartre. I was so grateful for this and I will recommend secret food tours and Marcel to all my friends and would hope he is still doing these tours if/when I return to Paris.

Such as great way to learn about France, Paris and get an introduction to its iconic foods. Guide had a great sense of humor and provided lots of insight into the Parisian perspective, food culture and tips/info on eating out. Great selection of food, from sweets, wines, bread to cheese. Very accommodating for the vegetarians that were on the tour. Was surprised half the tour was spent sitting and eating inside one of their facilities, rather than out touring the neighborhood, but it was still a great experience that I would recommend.

We had a great time learning a little about Paris while we were on our food tour. Our guide, Yann, was easy to talk to and was knowledgeable about the foods we ate. I really like that this food tour had a location where we could sit and eat. We've been on other food tours where we all have to crowd into a restaurant and wait for service and this was a much better experience. Would recommend to anyone wanting to try some of the local foods without knowing much about them.

Olivia's tour was delightful! There were 9 of us she led around, gathering baguettes and eclairs from Pain Pain and leading us onward to the cheese shop and the butcher. Lines out the doors of these places let us know we were in good hands. Oh, and the chocolate/macaron place was to die for! She also pointed out where some famous artists had lived and/or were buried before we ended in the tasting room where we ate and ate and drank and drank and had places of food origin explained to us on the map. By the end we all the attendees were chatting easily and swapping itineraries. Very fun.

We had such a fabulous time on this food tour! All of the choices and pairings were delicious. We were a mixed group of grandmother, mother, 20 year old and 11 year old and we all enjoyed it immensely. Celine was such a wonderful and happy guide. We really enjoyed her presentation and her personality which made the experience fun and even more enjoyable than we could have expected. We enjoyed that she shared her perspective and her favorites with us. We would never have even thought to try some of the things she gathered but were so happy to have tried them! We highly recommend the secret food tour and if you’re lucky, you will get Celine as your guide. Bon Appetite!

While there wasn't much of a tour (short walk), and the food was kind of basic (might be my fault since I've spent some time in France before the tour and had some knowlege already) the guide 'Nausicaa' was eloquent and provided insight into 'her city' with a a lot of charm and kindness. She also provided wonderful insight when presenting the different types of food at the final location where we eventually set down to eat. I highly recomand booking a tour with her as much like her city she is uniquely artful at her craft.

This was so much more than I expected. A lovely day in Montmartre. There were 11 of us in total, it was nice to meet some people from other countries or states. Emmanuel was extremely knowledgeable. The food was awesome! We walked the city picking up cheese, baguettes, meat, sweets, and ended in a dining room and ate everything we picked up as a family style dinner. Paired with some lovely wines, I would highly recommend, and if you can request Emmanuel, you should.

Aicha did a fantastic job with her explanations, subtle humor, and overall making our group feel connected and informed with this tour. Spotty rain showers did not dampen our day with her, and ending it all together over the foods and drinks of the Montmartre area was a great joy! Highly recommend her and this tour!
