About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- MercutioBirmingham0 contributionsAn up and a downOur guide, Emanuelle, has a delightful personality; and on the drive to St Emilion was a fount of information about the Bordeaux area, its wine makers and wine making. Her tour of the village of St Emilion was supremely informative. Sitting in the front of the van, we admired her smooth driving skill. We regret that the rest of our review does not match the remarks of previous reviewers. Yes, our Chateau Balestard La Tonnelle guide explained and showed us the processes of wine making very professionally. And true, the weather prevented us tasting wine on the terrace with views over the far countryside. But the large tasting room was bleak and unwelcoming. We moved swiftly from one wine to the next, with no plain biscuit (as in Britain) to prepare for the next tasting. And for the cost of this tour we would expect some refreshment after the wine tasting before the return drive to Bordeaux. Obviously not coffee before wine tasting, but certainly to end the Chateau visit, preferably with a small local pastry.Written 15 September 2024
- 437jacquelinew0 contributionsTop day out !Top day out with Valentin touring the village of St Emilion & 3 vineyards. We learnt so much about the production & tasting of these superb wines. Valentin was a great host, & the picnic provided was excellent quality - very tasty & beautifully presented. Thank you for a lovely day.Written 14 September 2024
- 69Dee0 contributionsMini wine sampling afternoonReally fun way to spend an afternoon! Good instructor abd nice wines/ snacks. Nice part of the city, lively walkways and shops nearby ( Passage Sarget is gorgeous!)Written 13 September 2024
- MadDocNI0 contributionsInaudible driverDeparture in a minibus from near Place de l'Opéra. Took an hour or so to get to the Margaux region, and similar back. Affable driver, but inaudible except those in the front seat beside him. Saw two wineries, and guided tour and tasting, plus questions. The highlight has to be seeing Chateau Margaux itself, though only to photograph through the gates. Pleasant enough trip, but pricy.Written 11 September 2024

- Julia C0 contributionsFrench wines revisitedI haven’t drank much French wine in recent years and was very keen to revisit and find out more about them both red and white. Lovely afternoon with a very knowledgeable guide and very pleasantly surprised with the different wine flavours. For a short wine tasting experience this is very good.Written 7 September 2024

- 964achimm0 contributionsVery interesting and nice introduction to the wines of the Bordeaux regionMy wife and I took part in the wine seminar introducing Bordeaux wines with cheese and sausage varieties. It is a short but very interesting and educational introduction to the special features of the wines of this region. Despite the short time, we were able to learn a lot and really enjoyed the seminar. It was very entertaining and we would like to thank the organizers from Olala.Written 23 August 2024

- caoimhed7670 contributionsComprehensive and nicely paced food and wine tour. Excellent value for money.Wonderful day with Xavier our guide. I visited with my boyfriend. We left Bordeaux at 0930 and returned approx 1630. We visited Saint emilion first and had an hour to wander the village. Then we visited Chateau La Rose des Vents winery for a tasting of 1 white/3 reds. We had a preprepared lunch which was delicious. Then we visited Chateau Grangey for a tasting of 4 reds and finally we visited Chateau Monlot for a tasting of 1 white/2 reds. The tour was nicely paced. Xavier kept the conversation going throughout and there was an enjoyable mix of learning and general chat. We purchased 6 wines from chateau grangey to have them shipped to Ireland. There were 8 of us in total with a great mix of backgrounds. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area!Written 10 August 2024

This was worth the investment and time! Our driver Julie is knowledgeable about the subject and the area. We started at Saint Emilion area where we visited 2 Châteaus where we sampled wines. We the stopped by the town of Saint Emilion, then went back to the city to enjoy a nicely arranged picnic lunch with wine of course 😉. After lunch, we headed to Medoc and Margaux where we sampled more wines from 2 Châteaus.
There were only max of 8 for our tour do that makes it easy to assemble. The the tour vehicle was clean, in good condition.
For future consideration, it will be nice to have charging ports in the van.
Overall, the day trip was very good!

Was a fantastic tour, it was intimate with only 8 people on the tour and our guide who was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and went the extra mile. We ended up getting back at 6.30pm because she wanted to show us an extra Chateaux. I would recommend this tour to anyone.
Only recommendation is to bring your own water as there isn’t any during transport.

This was an absolutely delightful trip, and I am so glad that we booked it as part of our stay in Bordeaux! We started the morning in the charming medieval village of St Emilion, and I really enjoyed all the history there. Our tour guide Pierre was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, charming and engaging throughout the entire trip. He explained all the intricacies of appellations and quality grading -- which are a bit idiosyncratic in Bordeaux, to say the least! All of the guides at the chateaux were lovely, too, and they gave really wonderful insights into the history of wine in Bordeaux, the winemaking process, and how each chateaux does it a little differently and has its own style.
Of course, the wines were phenomenal. I enjoyed all of them, and several were runaway hits. The journey paces itelf well throughout the day. Do follow their advice to bring water, though! Hydration is important on a wine-filled day!
My only somewhat negative comments are that the vans are a little cramped, (especially if you're a human who is any wider than a French model! 😅 ). A company upgrade to larger coaches would make for more comfortable travel. Also, St Emilion itself is definitely not the most accessible place in the world to anyone with even minor mobility issues, thanks to the steep and uneven streets and walkways. It's a medieval village! So that's not unexpected, but it is something to be aware of if that's a concern for anyone in your travel party. (I definitely wouldn't skip the trip because of it, but maybe hang out at the cafe at the top of the hill instead of following the guide through that part!) All of the chateaux were easily walkable, though you do have to be able to do a few stairs.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The trip was relaxing, informative, and a perfect indulgence for wine-lovers.

We had a great time with the full-day tour to Saint-Emilion and Medoc! Everything went smoothly, we visited 3 wineries and each of them has its own character. Some of the wines we tasted were >50 EUR per bottle, so it's a nice experience to be able to taste that as we wouldn't buy that for ourselves!). I also enjoyed the stroll in Saint-Emilion city center and the view. Our driver/tour guide is very knowledgeable and engaging. Overall very enjoyable tour and worth the price.

It was a small group in a comfortable car driven by our guide Xavier who was very helpful & informative & made the tour an enjoyable one
We visited a winery & had wine tasting in the morning & then proceeded to St Emilion town centre & the church . We returned to Bordeaux for our lunch with the group .
After lunch we visited the other wineries of Medoc. Relaxing & informative tour which gives us better understanding of the wineries around Bordeaux.
We want to thank our guide for showing us St Emilion, Medoc & the city of Bordeaux & for making our tour an enjoyable one

So happy with my spontaneous desision to board on tour and take a chance of getting to know Bordeaux regions, it's wine making peculiarities and the variety of wines in tasting. We, a group of 8 random strangers, have visited 4 different wineries, which was a decent number in one day. There was plenty of time to discuss the wines and the same time to explore the beautiful lands while traveling to chateaus. Our guide Quentin was making a lot of effort to show and tell as much as possible. Definatelly, recommend! Enjoy!

We had a brilliant day exploring the Bordeaux region. Our guide Margot was brilliant and took care of us all.
The tour included three Chateaux visits and tastings with some exceptional wine. We had the opportunity to buy some of the wine we sampled which let us continue the experience for the rest of our visit to Bordeaux.
The trip was easy to book, with good communication in advance. The start/end spot is really central - with easy access to the city for after the tour.

We had a wonderful full-day tour with a small group (5 including my husband and me). Emmanuelle was a great guide, gave us a lot of information. We had a tour of the village of St. Emilion, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Beautiful place but a very steep climb. So thankful we didn’t have to walk back down!
We visited 3 châteaus (wineries) with a tour of two and tastings at all 3. We also had a very tasty picnic lunch at one of them. The tour was well worth the money to get out and see the French countryside and visit the winemakers.

The guide, Estelle, was knowledgeable, very personable, and spoke excellent English.. The trip consisted of three parts: the morning that was a half day tour of a chateau in St. Emillion and a brief tour of the town of St. Emillion. We tasted wines at the chateau from two methods of making Bordeaux wines. For lunch we went back to Bordeaux and had an excellent lunch at the tour firm's office. In the afternoon we joined another half day group going to Medoc and tasted wines at two Chateaus. The experience for the day was both enjoyable and educational.

If I purchase wine will they deliver it to the UK as we don’t have enough baggage to bring back more than a couple of bottles?
Is there a minimum amount you have to buy to get delivery to the UK?
If there is I assume it’s less than buying a carry on bag
Written 23 August 2023
Sorry, I don't know the answers to that. We carried some wine back with us : ) Also each winery probably has different policies...
