About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- kirstyk4740 contributionsThe only Bordeaux tour you need!We had an incredible experience on this tour. The tour guide Theo was incredibly knowledgeable in both wine as well as the rich history of Saint Emilion. We were able to learn so much. It is great value for money, as the tickets included a full day of transport, a walking tour of Saint Emilion, 4 wine tastings 2 of which were in depth tours across right bank and left bank, picnic lunch and as we were a smaller group and had more time, Theo showed us some amazing chateaus and chocolate shops. If you are looking for a tour of the region, look no further - and ask for Theo!Written 7 September 2024
- georgiae2250 contributionsExcellent experienceWe had Maud as our guide and she was amazing! The tour took us through Pomerol and St Emilion. She was so knowledgeable, friendly and lovely. The company was also so helpful - we originally booked the bike tour but requested to change to the driving tour given the weather and they sorted it out for us quickly and easily.Written 6 September 2024

The scenery and wine was beautiful despite the weather. Uriel provided us with rain macs for the trip so we were relatively dry. Great day out and would highly recommend.Written 31 August 2024

The picnic lunch was delicious! It was also a treat to visit Saint Emillion and visit the town and get a tasting of a selection of local wines. - NicholU0 contributionsWine tasting day around St EmillionWhat a lovely day! Suzanne was a great personable guide who was informative about the wines and history of the area. The tours of the chateaux were interesting and of course the wine selections were good and illustrated the range of St Emillion wines. The picnic lunch was a lovely relaxed affair in the grounds of the winery and showcased some of the different French cheeses and charcuterie as well as a glass or two of wine from the chateau. There is no obligation to buy any of the wines but we couldn't resist a few bottles!Written 8 August 2024

I'd arrived in Bordeaux and St-Emilion with high expectations, but this experience delivered way beyond!
From the word go, our host Tim was brilliant with us. Friendly, laid back and super knowledgeable about the region and its heritage. It's clearly more a passion than a job. You're in good hands!
The tour itself is idyllic. Winding through the French countryside, miles of vineyards and quaint village architectures provide the perfect backdrop for working up a thirst...just in time to arrive at the perfectly chosen chateaux.
Traditional, historic and family run; the wine is exceptional and the food is fantastic!
Whether it's the history of the craft, a deeper appreciation of some of the world's best reds, picturesque scenery or getting sozzled in the glorious sunshine,
Rustic Vines have it down to an art.
Thanks again, Tim, and all the crew at Rustic Vines. We'll be back!

Can't say much more than other reviews already have - an absolutely wonderful afternoon that I will cherish.
The wine we sampled was delicious and the picnic was carefully tailored. The bikes were in great condition and the cycling could not be easier, it was a hot day but there was plenty of water on hand.
Tim is a belter of a guide with buckets of interesting knowledge about the wine, the history of winemaking in the region and the famous chateauxs, and Saint-Emilion itself etc, as well as being an all round fantastic bloke who can Bring any group together.
If there's anything you do whilst in Boredaux, it should be this.

Tim is an absolute hero - there is no better way to spend your day in Saint-Emilion than with his company. We misread the morning departure time and he rode his bike completely out if his way to make sure we still had the opportunity to join the tour. It really shows his commitment to his customers.
Specific to the tour, it’s an unmatched experience. From the in depth knowledge of wine and regional history to the individual chateau visits and tastings - don’t miss this opportunity. The ebikes are new and give you the ability to travel lengths at ease.
Specific to the Chateau visits, the winemakers showed us an unbelievable time, from tasting ‘wine in progress’ to the in and out of the production. It’s amazing to see the complexity of the process and the nuances in making great wine.
I could go on but there is definitely no other company you should be visiting this city with.

An amazing experience - one I’ll never forget. To be able to see all that we saw and learn so much about the wines and the area was an experience of a lifetime. So many little roads with twists and turns our guide expertly navigated us down and to pass so many beautiful wineries and vistas. The lunch setting was straight out of a movie and the food and drink were divine. Highly recommend and would again next time in Bordeaux.

My partner and I had such a fantastic day with Rustic Vines. As soon as we arrived in the office in the centre of Bordeaux we were met with friendly staff & offered complimentary coffee, and the day got better as it went on. Our tour guide (Tomas) was incredibly knowledgeable, but we never felt overwhelmed with information, and the owner (Tim) was really friendly too. The actual tour was excellent -- the perfect ratio of cycling (the e-bikes were FAB!), wine tasting (all completely unpretentious), and local information. We particularly liked that they took us through the town of St Emilion at the end, too, so that we could see the church etc as well. The wines were all delicious (although some were more to our tastes than others!) & the picnic lunch was perfect. We had a lovely group of just 6 of us (British and Kiwi) which meant that the day felt intimate and friendly. It was great that they took photos and videos throughout the day as well which meant that we were free to just enjoy the experience. And to top it off, Tomas dropped us off close to our hotel on the way home which saved us an uber! Cannot recommend highly enough. 5***

This was one of the most unique wine tasting yours we’ve had the pleasure of taking. Our guide, Caz, not only provided information on the grapes and wines of the region, much like a fully trained sommelier, but discussed the history of the area and how wines were classified. The added treat of lunch at a quaint vineyard, made it all the more charming. Even in the on and off rain, we enjoyed pedaling through the region with the ponchos provided. The E Bikes were tricky for non users, but we adapted. Caz made this trip extra special with finale of a walking history tour and a final tasting in town. We recommend Caz to anyone interested in learning of the region and it’s rich history.

I would highly recommend Rustic Vines to anyone visiting Bordeaux and St Emilion. Tim was such a great guide for the day, bringing fun energy and good humour. The electric bikes were a fantastic way to get around the region and take in the sights. They even made tackling the hills in 35 degree heat easy going. We visited two lovely chateaus with tastings and finished with a walking tour of St Emilion and final tasting in the town centre. The small group size was a plus as we all felt like friends by the end of it. Basically just a great day out!

A truly enjoyable, highly informative and interesting insight into the viticulture surrounding the historical region. Our guide Tim was warm, well versed, approachable and went to great detail in delivering a crash course on the art of winemaking. The chateaus were great as both hosts were very welcoming and thorough with their tours. The walkthrough the historical town of St Emilion with Tim was also worthwhile and picturesque. Definitely worth a place in anyone's itinerary whilst visiting Bordeaux. Highly recommended.

Can’t recommend this tour enough! Our tour guide Ben was not only warm, friendly and great company… he was also so knowledgeable of the Saint Émilion region and their wines. We started the day in Bordeaux where we met our group for the day.. a small but lovely group of people. Upon arriving in Saint Emilion we hopped on amazing quality electric bikes to travel to our first chateau/vineyard of the day. It’s a very pleasant cycle for anyone who is not comfortable cycling in big cities, this will be no problem to you. Lunch was great, all three wine tastings were amazing and uniquely different. For a 9/10 hour guided tour, we couldn’t recommend this highly enough. Great value for money and a fantastic way to experience Saint Émilion and all its beauty! Thank you Ben and Rustic wines for a perfect day.

Two questions -
1. Which wineries will we be touring?
2. Are there vegetarian options for the picnic lunch?

Hi,
I am interested in this tour and will be traveling solo. Is there a way for me to book this? Online there doesn’t appear to be an option for a single party. Dates I’m interested in would either be 10/10 or 10/11.
Thanks!

Hello, We are a family of 4 our children are 10 & 11 and tall for their age and very much used to riding bikes so I am sure they would find these easy. Would this be ok for them as there is no child ticket option?
