Kelpies and Falkirk Wheel - Half Day Tour from Glasgow
US$30.78
Overview
The towering statue of the Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel swing-bridge are two of Scotland’s most impressive feats of modern design and engineering. This convenient 4-hour combination bus and walking tour from Glasgow makes it possible to visit both sites with ease. Delve into Scotland’s rich engineering history with a guide, and learn of the country’s canal-building heritage.
What to Expect
Take a seat in your air-conditioned minivan in central Glasgow then, at 9am, head out of the city toward the Kelpies to begin your 4-hour tour. Along the way, listen as your guide shares anecdotes about Glasgow, and gain insight into the history and background of the sites in your tour.

First, visit the Kelpies — two 98-foot (30-meter) high horse head statues located by the banks of the Forth and Clyde canals. Enjoy a short stroll through Helix Park, and admire fine views over the famous statue from all angles as your guide sheds light on their design and historic significance.

Afterward, head on to the Falkirk Wheel — built to restore the link between the Forth and Clyde canals and widely considered among Scotland’s finest feats of engineering. Here, learn how the project has helped regenerate the area and perhaps watch the mighty swing-bridge in operation.

Spend time in the exhibition and visitor center, then take the journey back to central Glasgow — arriving back at 1pm.

Well I booked the Kelpies tour but didn’t get to see them!

I was let down this morning when Rabbies rang me to say my tour was cancelled at precisely the time the bus was due to set off. The excuse given was that the bus was stuck in heavy traffic. There were events in Glasgow today...More

Hi Wendy, We really do understand and are sorry for the disappointment. Glasgow was busier than usual due to the Great Scottish Run, but the cancellation of your tour was nothing to do with this and was not something that we could have planned for....More

Wonderful tour

Alistair was our excellent guide, who gave a brief history of Scotland, the Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel during the drive from Glasgow. The Kelpies were magnificent and the Wheel an incredible feat of engineering. A "must-see" for visitors to Scotland.

Very Unusual Sculpture

The Kelpies are very unusual and large--the largest horse sculptures in the world. There is a very nice park and concessions where one can enjoy a afternoon out. There is also a great film showing the construction of the Kelpies.

Amazing Tour

We had an extra day (September 29, 2017) in Glasgow before returning to Canada after a 10 day self directed Highland vacation. Right from the start, with typical Scottish hospitality, we were warmly greeted by our Guide Ian. In a timely manner, we were arrived...More

Not sure what you mean by 8/20? If travelling from Glasgow you can get a train to Falkirk train station and then a local bus to the Falkirk Wheel, you can then walk along the canal (about 2/3 miles) or catch a bus to the... More
