Overview
Skip the line and save money by booking your admission to Edinburgh Zoo in advance. With the security of knowing that you have a confirmed entrance, you can simply relax and enjoy the zoo, the only one in the United Kingdom to have two giant pandas. As well as admiring the animals—which also include king penguins and Asian lions—you can take part in the zoo's program of educational events and activities, from ranger talks to hands-on animal encounters.
What to Expect

Edinburgh Zoo is one of Europe's leading centres of conservation, education and research. We work collectively with many other zoos and conservation agencies in the UK, Europe and around the world in co-ordinated conservation programmes, to help ensure the survival of many threatened animal species. We support various conservation projects in the wild through funding and expertise.

Our extensive education programme aims to raise awareness and understanding of the fragility of life on this planet, and our responsibility to help care for it.

We also support a range of targeted research projects which are designed to enhance our understanding of animals' behavioural and physiological needs, with many useful consequences for conservation in the wild.

The Zoo is also one of Scotland's most popular visitor attractions, with over 800,000 visitors a year.

Open every day of the year including Christmas Day, we have four stars from the VisitScotland quality assurance scheme, and we work hard to offer our visitors a truly great day out.

Old fashioned, little variety of animals, lots of attractions closed with no prior warning

Visited on a weekday during the school holidays - prime time for a zoo, you'd think? Apparently they didn't think so. Loads of exhibits were closed, and most frustratingly loads of the routes between different places shown on the map were also closed. It was...More

Good zoo in interesting setting

A good half day attraction. Good environments for the animals and the penguins are terrific. Range of animals is limited by the overall size of the zoo. We did not see pandas and visitors should realise this is by no means guaranteed. Big cats also...More
