Edinburgh Real Fear Ghost Tour: Old Town, Cemetery, and Underground Vaults
US$18.18
Overview
See a different side of Edinburgh on this ghost tour of the city's medieval Old Town. Discover hidden alleyways and lanes as your guide (in period costume) recounts and sinister tales of the city's dark past and its murderers, witches, and grave robbers. Visit a haunted graveyard then go underground into the South Bridge Vaults where people once lived and worked—and, more gruesomely, bodysnatchers stole corpses.
What to Expect
Your tour begins on the Old Town's Royal Mile, where you meet your guide, who is dressed as one of the city's notorious characters.

Following your guide as they recount the dark secrets of the Old Town, head down the lanes and narrow wynds (alleyways) that were once the heart of Edinburgh's slums. Discover the true stories of the people who lived in these cramped quarters, as well as some of the mysteries that persist to this day.

Walk through a graveyard that is believed to be haunted; examine some of the fascinating details written on the gravestones, and absorb the spooky atmosphere.

Next, go deep underground into some of Edinburgh's famed vaults that made up an underworld city in the 18th century. Feel the atmosphere of those dark days come alive before returning to street level where tour concludes back on the Royal Mile.

Excellent trip with Captain Porteous

Clear, entertaining and informative way to learn about Edinburgh while doing a short walk. The guide, a.k.a Captain Porteous, has a charming voice and a deep knowledge of his city. Absolutely advisable.
