Loch Lomond, The Highlands and Doune Castle Day Trip from Edinburgh
US$50.52
Overview
Enjoy hassle-free transportation and make the most of your time in Scotland on this day tour from Edinburgh that takes in many of the country's best sites. Explore Glasgow in the company of a guide who provides insight into its industrial past and hip present. Admire the "bonnie, bonnie" banks of Loch Lomond, see the famed movie location Doune Castle, and explore the "Highlands in miniature" in the village of Aberfoyle.
What to Expect
Your tour begins with a pickup from your Edinburgh hotel. Settle in for the journey to Glasgow.

Upon arrival, embark upon a tour of the city, taking in the sights while learning how this one-time industrial heartland transformed itself into a cultural hub.

After exploring Glasgow, make the short trip to Loch Lomond, whose shoreline is immortalized in song as "bonnie, bonnie banks." At the village of Balloch you have the option to embark upon a scenic cruise on the lake (own expense).

Your next stop is the charming village of Aberfoyle. With its lochs (lakes), glens (valleys), and mountains, this area is often described as “Highlands in miniature." Here you have time to have lunch (own expense), browse the shops, and have a stroll around the village.

Your final stop is the 14th-century Doune Castle, set amid lovely Stirlingshire countryside and star of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," "Game of Thrones," and "Outlander." Take an audio tour (own expense) of the castle narrated by Monty Python's Terry Jones to discover its fascinating history.

Back on the bus, settle in for the return journey where your tour concludes with a drop-off back at your hotel.

We were in a small bus of around 16 persons. Maybe they have larger buses when the groups are larger but the bus we had was very comfy and good. 16 was actually a perfect number for the group
