Experience and professionalism made all the differnce.

Rabbies had to postpone our tour twice because of covid, it was a trip to Lewis, Harris and Skye, planned originally with my husband for September 2020. Eventually we had to cancel with a full refund because of bereavement. A few months later with some trepidation I wanted to undertake the trip and rebooked this time with my mother and sister in law. Chris our driver / tour guide was fantastic. His welcome and easy manner and very professional training made us all feel relaxed. It was wonderful trip. Chris was friendly, knowledgeable, humorous and exremely good at guaging how our group of ten would get the most from these fabulous islands.
Brexit and covid have changed staffing levels in guest houses and hotels, things are not quite "back to normal" yet but I would definitely reccommend taking the trip, plan ahead with meals and be prepared to be paitient with Scotland's very friendly hospitality staff.

I had taken a 1 day tour with Rabbies previously to Hadrian’s wall from Edinburgh and we enjoyed ourselves. We wanted to see more of Scotland without having to worry about driving ourselves around and opted for the 6 day tour. This tour was AMAZING.

Our driver/guide was Chris and he was fantastic. He was friendly and funny and knew so much of the history of the areas we were in. We had plenty of stops to get out and see things and stretch our legs and the stops were more than long enough. Chris arranged for us to meet a Harris tweed weaver just outside Luskentyre beach which was a highlight of the trip. I was also excited to see the fairy Glen and when we some some highland cows on the side of the road, Chris of course pulled over so we could get some photo ops!

I will recommend that if you are doing this tour any time in the near future, you pre book any dinner accommodations, especially in Portree.

Already looking forward to our next visit and our next trip with Rabbies!

What an incredible tour! I was on the 10 day Orkney and Outer Hebrides tour so I joined this group for the last 5 out of 6 days, and those 5 days were wonderful. We saw so many places even though many businesses and museums/churches, etc. were closed and hospitality restrictions meant no distillery tours or tastings, and limited options for food at restaurants, pubs and cafes.

None of these things stopped me from having a great time. Our guide Barney customised the tour and put extra effort in to add stops he thought we would enjoy. Lewis and Harris are amazing, I am so grateful I got to experience this varied island. Harris took my breath away; I felt mesmerised every step of the way. Similar landscapes to much of the Highlands, but with many more small lochs and islands (lochans and skerries?) jotted around everywhere. We were treated to some sunny weather which really brought this scenery to life.

I picked this 10 day Orkney & Outer Hebrides tour because I will be leaving Scotland soon and wanted to visit a few more places I had not yet been to in my time here, and I was able to tick off so many places, more than I expected, off a list of places I was hoping to see.

Covid safety measures were top notch - masks, sanitiser readily available, distancing on and off the bus as well as an order of how we hopped on an off the bus meant I felt as ease.

Admittedly, I thought Rabbies would be just another tour company where the tour would be standard, by the book, no time to slow down and enjoy each place you stop in, but I couldn't have been more wrong! Both Barney and my first guide Nick (for the previous 5 day Orkney tour I was a part of) were genuinely lovely, had a wealth of knowledge, were really down to earth and seemed to genuinely love their jobs, which made the tour even better. Both Barney and Nick were fantastic drivers and I felt very safe in their capable hands on the bus.

I feel really fortunate and want to thank Rabbie's and their guides for all their wonderful work to continue providing their tours for people like myself who would not be able to visit most of these locations on my own.

Fantastic trip to see the beautiful scenery of Skye and Lewis & Harris. Our brilliant tour guide, Doug, was very knowledgeable and provided great entertainment! The bus was comfortable and plenty of stops were built into the trip. Doug was able to give some great recommendations for food throughout our stay. Thoroughly recommend a trip with Rabbies!

Great tour. Our guide, Dougie was excellent with a wealth of knowledge and stories which made the trip memorable.
Seeing minke whales, dolphins and porpoises as we crossed the Minch was an added bonus.
Effie’s B&B in Portree was very welcoming.

The whole trip was excellent and very well organised. Our driver/ guide - Cattie- was brilliant. Knowledgeable, helpful and told stories with a smile on her face. She obviously enjoyed her job. We stayed in 3 different hotels and they were all of a good standard. The minibus was very comfortable and was kept very clean by Cattie.

Great tour. Save all the high points. That said the driver/ guide knew the area so well he knew the times and places that were the best and when to avoid the crowds. Nice group of people. I travelled solo and requested hotels and the were always very acceptable and many times very charming.i love this countryside and cannotwait to go back. Just a suggestion..read Peter Mays Lewis Trilogy before you go...it made the trip even more interesting.

As a solo traveler who cannot drive well I was looking for a way to see the Highlands, i was afraid a 3 day tour wouldn't show me enough but i was also scared of commiting to a 6 day trip. If you are in the same situation as I was, my advice would be this: book the trip Now, you will not regret it.
I think one of the reasons the tour was so excelent is because I got an amazing guide, Doug. He was funny, knew how to divide history very well in between our 6 days and told us a lot of great stories you just wouldn't find in the travel books. Bonus points for the music on the bus being always kinda related to the stories.
We were a very diverse group, with our youngest being me at 25 and the oldest one over 80, Doug managed this very well and gave us diferent recommendations and options on our stops, depending on whether we were more or less active (or drank more or less whiskey). I must say i loved everyone in my tour.
little shoutout to another tour guide from Rabbies doing the same trip one day after us who i met in my lovely bed and breakfast in Stornoway: Donald I'm sure your tour was amazing too!
wheater: absolutely awful for June, most of the days were full of rain, 10 degrees max and the trip with ferry on the second day was a bit of an adventure. And you know what? you didnt really care that much cause the scenery was so incredibly beautiful the whole time, it's the Highlands of Scotland... just be prepared cause you could get the four seasons in the same day.
i definitely must say that for me Harris and Lewis were probably my favourite part of the trip, quiet remote and veeery few tourist in comparison to Skye, and that's why you should pick this trip in particular.
to sumarize: i travelled alone but made good friends, bought myself a lovely Harris Tweet scarf not in the expensive souvenir stores from Edinburgh, tried many new things (oysters, whiskey, craft beers from the area, haggis..), learnt a lot of Scottish history and myths and saw the most amazing landscapes ever.
Thanks again Rabbies for such a high quality trip and special thanks to Doug for making the experience extra special!

This was my second multi-day Rabbies trip. The scenery was lovely, the places we visisted were amazing. Stayed at nice B&Bs and the food was outstanding! The guide was strange. He said he had a difficult time with the long lockdowns. Our group was very small - just 3 people. Not much music was played (I could count on one hand the number of songs in a 6-day period). He talked more than is normal for a Rabbies trip - and mostly about himself. He told unbecoming stories about past tourists, specifically mentioning their nationality (German, Australian, American, and Chinese, etc). He also had an unbecoming story about an LGBTQ couple. He complained a lot about some personal matters (his sister in-law-to-be). I expected stories about the history, Scotland, even some mythology would have been great. Instead we got his opinion of pretty much everything that could have an opinion. We had to have a few lunches together due to pre-booking and the fact that our group was small. He often interrupted or would take over the conversation in a way that was bizzare. He even gave his opinion about his own mental health - he prefers bartenders and barbers to actual therapists. Well, there it is. What was upsetting was that I asked if he could call a taxi for me when we returned to the bus station at the end of the trip. Instead, he insisted on dropping me off "near" where I live because he thought it was a waste of money for me to pay for a cab. I insisted that I wanted to pay for a cab. He insisted that I should be dropped off. So this left me with a 15 minute walk with bad back and fully laden - carrying a backpack, a suitcase, and two bags of souvenirs. The cab could have dropped me off in front of my door, so that I only needed to climb the stairs to my flat, and a cab costs about 8 quid from the bus station. So by the time I walked home with all my gear, and made it to the top of the stairs, I was fairly sure I don't want to do a Rabbies trip again.

The tour guide and commentary are an important part of a Rabbie's tour and should always enhance the customer journey. It's really disappointing to hear that there were some irrelevant and inappropriate topics discussed here and we apologise that this had such a negative effect on your overall experience. I hope it goes without saying that everyone is and should be made to feel welcome on our tours. I'm sure there were good intentions in trying to drop you off closer to home, but this was ill-advised and the guide should have listened to your refusal. We apologise that this made things more stressful and complicated for you. There are clearly some issues to address here and we would appreciate if you could contact us at feedback@rabbies.com with your travel date or booking reference so that we can identify your booking and follow up appropriately. Many thanks, Aimee

As a solo traveller i was in a dilemma whether to choose rabbie's tour or not. Much to my surprise i was joined with 8 others from different parts of the world. It was an amazing tour through countryside. There were lots and lots to see and explore. Our driver was Donald and he was fantastic. We did a little detour to island called Raasay and it was breathtakingly beautiful, we had a chance to wander unspoiled lush green terrains for 2 and half hours.Similarly we had several chances to get to know the life style and habits of the island dwellers. Fortunately for us almost all the days were quite sunny. I would recommend rabbie's for anybody without a second guessing.
