Overview

Beat the crowds and opt for an alternative sightseeing experience of the Scottish Highlands on a hassle-free day trip from Edinburgh. A great choice for history buffs, this excursion transports you to four medieval castles, three lochs, and the rugged Breadalbane Mountains. Receive personalized attention in a group limited to 16, and leave the tour with a discount card for select Edinburgh shops, restaurants, and attractions.

What to Expect

Your tour begins with pickup from a central Edinburgh departure point. Board an air-conditioned coach destined for Scotland’s West Highlands. Stop first at Stirling Castle, the former residence of Mary Queen of Scots, to take photos of the exterior before visiting Doune Castle, the film site of Monty Python and The Holy Grail.

As your coach traverses dense forests and rolling hills, your guide provides commentary that details Scottish legends such as William Wallace and Rob Roy MacGregor, the Scottish equivalent of Robin Hood.

After a break for lunch (own expense), stop at the tranquil Loch Awe and the ruins of Kilchurn Castle. See Inveraray Castle on the shores of Lake Fyne, and Loch Lomond, one of the largest lakes in Scotland.

This guided tour concludes with drop-off at your original Edinburgh departure point.

An excellent tour, Rabbie’s drivers stop at places not included in the itinerary for a quick photo shoot , we saw so much that I’m certain we would have missed had we been driving this route ourselves or traveling in a bigger bus. From boarding...More

Yes. I think we spent about 90 minutes there. Toured the castle, had lunch in the cafeteria and then walked into the village.

Alan, I am not sure if the tour is different in April from the one we did last September. I suggest you contact the tour company on that. The overview on TripAdvisor says it stops at 4 castles. When we did it, Stirling... More

I would recommend you contact the travel company to clarify. Our tour had 2 children aged 7 and 9. They were wonderful kids.
