- This 3-day adventure in the Scottish Highlands begins when you meet your guide at a convenient location in Edinburgh and set off via a top of the range, 16-seat Mercedes mini-coach. With only a small group of fellow travelers for company, you discover the area’s unique landscapes and rich history. On the first day, you head to Portree, the Isle of Skye’s largest town. En route, see the historic city of Stirling, Ben Nevis (Britain’s highest peak), and the hills and waterfalls of Glencoe. Enjoy free time to explore Portree in the evening before a night at a B&B or 3-star hotel—whichever you picked at checkout. The second day begins with a guided tour of the Isle of Skye. Depending on the weather, visit the 13th-century Dunvegan Castle, the rugged rock formations of Quiraing, or the sea cliffs at Neist Point, among other destinations. Your second night is again spent in Portree. On the third day, make your way back to Edinburgh, with plenty of sightseeing opportunities as you go. Pause at Loch Ness to see if you can spot Nessie (its sea monster), and admire the wild Grampian Mountains. The tour ends in early evening, upon return to Edinburgh.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- JMu69051970 contributionsEnjoyable Group TourVery informative day tour with Steve. Weather was sunny, which for Scotland and Northern Britian is not always guaranteed. My son and I enjoyed Vindolanda Roman military settlement.Written 8 November 2024
- Sightsee390171502850 contributionsA Great Way to Explore the HighlandsWe're a young portuguese couple and went on the tour with Sean. He has an amazing extensive knowledge of Scotland's history, traditions and tails. In the bus he shared lots of stories, had fitting Scottish music prepared for down time and always drove us safely. The tour was well prepared and when something unexpected happened (unexpected road closing), Sean was quick to find a workaround and keep the tour interesting. It was a real pleasure to get to know the Highlands with such a wonderful guide. The bus was confortable and had USB charging ports. Accomodations were booked by Rabbies - one of them was a charming B&B (Gisachan - Fort William), but the Portree one despite being clean, was not very good. In hindsight, we would have prefered handling the accomodation booking ourselves.Written 8 November 2024
- bilby20090 contributionsWell run day tourWell run day tour in a good sized vehicle with large windows. Well paced and nice areas to eat and have a meal. Guide was well informed and was excellent for the day tour. Timing and pace was fine on the day. We went into 1 castle and viewed a few others from outside. Comfortable day trip.Written 7 November 2024
- D1906XXsarahb0 contributionsOutstanding day trip! Outstanding guide!Fantastic day trip with our charming guide Dave! Yes, the day is long. But you see a ton of the country! And there are plenty of stops to keep you fresh. The boat cruise on Loch Ness was definitely worth it, guide Shawn made it entertaining and educational! Dave our Rabbie’s guide was everything one could wish for on such a tour: highly knowledgeable, friendly, charming, not too over the top, just right. Could not recommend Dave or Rabbie’s more highly!Written 7 November 2024
- Gregmar810 contributionsNice Way to End Our Time in the United KingdomAs we concluded a tour with Back Roads in Edinburgh, thought it would be a good idea to see more of Scotland. Took a 2 day tour up to Inverness and visited both Loch Ness and Glencoe Valley plus the Highlands area. Our guide and driver Chris did an incredible job in both staging our stops, explaining the sights around us, giving cafe recommendation and providing a historical background of the area. Glad we took the effort to add this tour to our visit. Also, the Ibis Styles hotel was in an ideal location to access the bus terminal.Written 6 November 2024

- Kris M0 contributionsWonderful TourWe had a wonderful day with Michael as our guide. We arrived at Donne as it was opening so avoided crowds. The drive through the highlands, Inveraray, seeing the lochs - all wonderfully scenic. Michael is extremely knowledgeable and personable and made the day even more special.Written 3 November 2024
- Freedom285961764800 contributionsGreat tour guide and gorgeous scenic views!Kenny was fantastic on our tour to the west highlands, lochs, and castles (he's funny, enthusiastic, and it doesn't hurt that he's a great singer too)! The tour definitely let me see an amazingly beautiful part of Scotland, and we had more than enough time at each stop. We even made a brief "detour" to see some highland cows, which was a wonderful surprise to me as I wouldn't have had any other way to go pet them otherwise :)) The Scottish music played throughout the drive really made everything all the more enjoyable too. Overall 10/10 (would give it an 11 if I could) trip!Written 2 November 2024

- 601thanhq0 contributionsAmazing day tour from Edinburgh with an amazing tour guideMe and my sister booked a day tour from Edinburgh to go to Glencoe and Loch Ness and had an amazing experience. We were able to see beautiful landscapes and had different chances to take photos. Our guide was Lizzie and she was super nice and knowledgeable. She was also very accommodating, I wanted to see highland cows and she made it happen. She also bought food so can could feed the cows. She was an awesome storyteller and I loved her stories. I would definitely recommend this tour especially with Lizzie as the tour guide.Written 2 November 2024
- 271jaydenr0 contributionsBest story telling and awesome views! The tour was very well put together. Our tour guide Lizzie was amazing, she had the best knowledge and story telling ability of any tour guide I have seen. The way she tied in the stories and music to where we were made the long day of driving go by quickly. Her level of history knowledge about the various clans was seriously impressive. The weather we had was cloudy but it made the views more dramatic. The small group size made it easy to meet people and the bus was super comfortable. We would definitely recommend the tour and Lizzie the tour guide.Written 2 November 2024
- G9814RYlenam0 contributionsTo see Nessie with LizzieHad an amazing time with Lizzie the tour guide. A great mix of history and fun. It was a long journey and she kept us entertained the whole time. She even had a soundtrack. We definitely want Lizzie if we book another tour and would recommend her to friends and family!Written 1 November 2024
- Lynn B0 contributionsThe countryside is stunning & the sites will never be forgotten. I would consider doing this tour again in a few yearsBest tour we have ever had in all our travels. We had Alan for 5 days & Billy for 4 (different destinations). The guides are extremely knowledgeable & passionate about their jobs and made a huge difference between a good trip & an outstanding excursion. I would not hesitate to recommend Rabby’s to anyone (I already have). Alan even chose tunes for each location we visited & had an excellent playlist.Written 1 November 2024
- VenusV100 contributionsEnriching Experience - You won't be disappointedI had an absolute delightful time and it was all thanks to Jamie, our tour guide. I was at risk of missing the bus (please note they are prompt!) Due to my initial flight delay, but with some quick maneuvering from a kind driver, I made it on time. So glad I did because the experience was truly unforgettable. Please note to pack your day bag light as the storage room on the bus is tight (I had just came from the airport so you can imagine). The kelpies was a "wow" moment and so grateful for Jamie's knowledge on the history, it made it that more of an impactful experience. The trip to the loch was breathtaking with incredible views. When Jamie says he knows a spot, he knows what he's talking about! He offered trails for those a bit more adventurous for truly incredible sights but also offered more laxed trails for those not really looking to trek. Sterling castle was so fun to see but honestly it was Jamie's knowledge, cultural music, and just warm hospitality that made this trip sensational. I didn't think I could see so much in one day and I'm so glad I was paired with Jamie's group. I can't sing Jamie's praises enough, I felt safe, it was so much fun. Highly recommended, especially as a solo traveler, 10s across the board.Written 31 October 2024

So I was originally heading to western Europe to see my favorite band perform in Reykjavik, the week after St Patricks Day in Dublin, well thanks to this stupid Coronavirus all that went out the window, but I digress. I wanted to add another stop into this trip and I have never had any interest in London, so I decided to put Edinburgh on the list.
I live in Denver, CO, USA right at the base of the Rocky Mountains, so I was pretty hesitant to book this tour because I live in the mountains. My girlfriend convinced me to book and I am beyond elated that I did, the tour was worth every penny, and in all honesty could have been a higher price and still worth it.
The scenery is absolutely amazing, and our tour was in the "off season", still just stunning. Our tour guide Roland was awesome! He has a great sense of humor and very good at impressions and was extremely entertaining during what is quite a bit of drive time. He was also great at mixing in interesting bits of history about each location you pass by in the car as well as the Isle of Skye. I think the best was when we were back in Edinburgh and everyone thought the tour was over Roland had one last surprise and snuck us all into the Scottish Monument after hours to see the city lit up from the top (it was quite the stealth move)!
100% recommended this tour, if I had to do it again I may have even gone for the 5 day vs 3 day to have more time in the highlands, but if you ever are in Edinburgh make sure to carve out at least 3 days for this tour!

My fiancee and I chose Rabbies for this 3 day tour to the Isle of Skye and back and we could not be more satisfied. Our guide Grant was great, not only in regard to knowledge about history, nature and local legends of the Highlands and the Islands, but also in trying to accomodate the wishes of everybody in the tour. Being a winter tour, the weather is quite unpredictable and mostly unhelpful, but we menaged to see a lot of wonderful places like fairy glen, kilt rock, loch ness and glencoe. Portree is a cute little town with a lot of options in pubs and restaurants and a decent food market. Ou BnB in Portree was absolutely AMAZING, the name is Dunborrodale, and it is managed by a young couple who are very welcoming and make a delicious scottish breakfast. I don't know if Rabbies allows costumers go choose accomodation, but I really recommend this one. This was my third time in Scotland, second in the Highlands andI am looking foward to return!

My group of three had a great trip with Ross, our Rabbie’s tour guide. The tour was flexible and full of stories, character and local tips which were important due to the volatile weather we had traveling in March. We found the trip comfortable and with adequate stops to seemingly our whole group’s liking. The drive through the Highlands is beautiful with photo stops along the way and Skye is stunning, even when pouring snow and covered in fog. Despite this weather we also felt safe as Ross was an excellent and careful driver. As a group of young adults, I would highly recommend this trip for teenagers to adults of all ages. Additionally, our bed and breakfast was clean and comfortable with friendly hosts.

We took this tour over a month ago and I've been putting off writing the review because I knew there was NO way to adequately capture how amazing our experience was. Our driver was Ewan Kenneth McLeod and, by gosh, he felt like family by the end of the three days. He knew SO MUCH history about the area, especially stories about the clans, and peppered in some current events and stories about his own family. It never felt like he was reciting facts from a book- he was just sharing his own firsthand knowledge about the areas we visited in a very conversational and laid-back way. All the food was good, our hotel in Portree (the Caledonian) was phenomenal, and the views simply felt otherworldly. I'm not even going to attach photos to this review because there are too many to choose from.
I don't know what we stuck to a SUPER specific itinerary, but it was even more fun to just wander and explore throughout the Highlands. I think Ewan peppered in a few stops of his own as time allowed, and we never sat on the bus for very long before there was a chance to pop out and take a few photos. We laughed, we sang, we cried (yes, my mom literally cried when the tour was over) and had such an amazing time. We spent two nights in Edinburgh after this tour and although it was lovely there, we all agreed we wished we had spent more time in the highlands.
I had originally looked at another tour operator, one that include the Jacobite Steam train on their three-day tour (I'm a lowkey Harry Potter fan), but we were unable to get a spot by the time we settled on our travel dates. Initially, I was a little bit disappointed that Rabbie's was our "backup" option BUT I have not one single regret about it now. It was so truly, genuinely a magical experience. If you are considering booking with this group... Just hurry up and do it already!

Fabulous trip and an amazing tour guide!! Ray Kept us all entertained on the bus with tons of history and fun facts. And a great music soundtrack!! Thanks Ray and Rabbies we had an awesome time the past 3 days
The highlands on the way to Skye were beautiful and the Isle of Skye was amazing. The tour is well organized and makes lots of stops so you’re only on the bus at most an hour and a half.
If you are mobility limited you wouldn’t be able to see everything as a few things were a slight walk over rocks but you could do almost everything.
We booked our own hotel - we stayed at the Cuillin Hills hotel which was beautiful and had a great restaurant with amazing views over the harbor.
We lucked out and had great weather all 3 days so we wore sneakers- never needed our rain jackets but it was windy at many sights where you needed layers.
The bus was new and comfortable with stadium seating so everyone can see out all the windows- the bus was air conditioned and everyone had their own vent to adjust the air flow.

This was mine and my husband's second Rabbles trip and it was just as brilliant as the first. Our guide's name was Ashleigh and right from the moment we all met at the minivan, she was warm, happy, enthusiastic and excited - this helped us both feel very at ease. She was so in love with Scotland!!! Our fellow travellers were all wonderful people and it was such an amazing opportunity to explore Skye with people who had come from all around the world. Skye was gorgeous and felt surreal. We stopped off at so many places and Ashleigh always made sure that there were plenty of toilet stops. She also planned in our food for us and ensured we had plenty of snacks for long driving periods. She was a nurturing, informative, warm guide and we couldn't have asked for better! Everything ran like clockwork the whole trip and despite all the windy roads in the wilderness, Ashleigh's driving was fantastic and so safe.
It would have been a 5 star review for Ashleigh and the tour but we had a slight problem with our accommodation this time around. We had asked Rabbies to book our accommodation for us on the booking form but were informed that if we wanted a 4 star hotel, we would have to book it ourselves. We did this at the Marmalde Hotel (which was an amazing hotel and I highly recommend it) but our email explaining this confirmation to the company was lost in the internet. Rabbies then sent us an email the day before we were due to leave for the tour, telling us that they'd booked the accommodation for us. We queried this and were told we would have to pay for it in full as it was too late to cancel.
We completely appreciated that you never received our email for the hotel we had booked ourselves, but felt that sending the accommodation details the night before we were due to leave and not checking up after the last email where you had told us to book our own accommodation, left us no time to rectify this and get a full refund. Again, our guide Ashleigh was so helpful during the tour in helping us sort out this worry as it was a lot of money to have to pay. Thankfully, Rabbles agreed to split the cost in half due to mistakes on both sides which we were thankful for and helped us to then enjoy the rest of our tour.
We will still be booking another tour as we are obsessed with Rabbies and the guides and experiences we have had so far but we will click book our own accommodation on the booking form to avoid any confusion in the future.

Absolutely fab.
"It's not whether you or I believe in Nessie, it's whether she believes in herself."
What a fab tour. As a solo, female traveller, I felt so comfortable with the group and with the driver guide, Chris. Chris was friendly, approachable, knowledgeable and had that typical, Scottish, dry sense of humour! The tour was amazing value for money and we managed to cram in so many spots on each of the three days; some of which were decided in the heat of the moment as Chris was so well informed of the local areas. We had ridiculously varied weather over the three days and luckily the days were times very well so we managed to get the most out of our trip. Word of warning - definitely take good walking shoes, spare layers, and a bright yellow waterproof jacket :D
I would recommend this tour to anyone thinking of going to Scotland, or in fact anywhere that Rabbies operates. Thanks again.

Booked this tour very last minute and really glad I did so. Had big Gav as the tour guide and he really made the trip special with the great story telling and his unique sense of humour. He personalised the trip to everyone's need where the majority of the group wanted to see animals and I wanted to see Loch Ness which we did both. You can tell he is really passionate and loves working at Rabbies especially mentioning how great his coworkers are.
You stay in a nice little town of Portree which serves as the base point for the 2 nights, it has all your essential needs but not a lot to do there otherwise. It was annoying that a few of the restaurants were closed in the winter and 100% book at the Cuchullin Restaurant if you want to eat, missed it on the last night as it was full :(
We must of been really lucky with the the weather especially at this time of the year as majority of the times it was sunny and the views everywhere we went were breathtaking, we would be dropped of in several places where you could explore for like an hour. Will say some places does feel like a rush to look around but that's the sacrifice of seeing so much in 3 days and fighting against the little we had.
If you are wondering what Isle of Skye tour to take, I'd 100% recommend this one.

We took a 3 day tour to Isle of Sky from Edingburg on the 19/6/21 and It was excellent. We were very lucky to be transferred to the tour group originated in Glasgow due to COVID restrictions and less number of people. Our guide Cameron was full of knowledge and went an extra mile to make our journey enjoyable. He stopped in all the beautiful spots for photos. He explained everything in detail and played appropriate music in different locations and made sure all of us were safe and comfortable. He even made sure we went inside our accommodation on the first day. I will not hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone to specially if Camaron is the guide. Thank Camaron for everything and your stories.

What a perfect and concise first-time visit to the Isle of Skye and Scottish Highlands. Beautiful country and appreciated the highlights. There definitely much to see and appreciated our knowledgeable tour guide, William, who drove and talked us through the sights, castles, lochs and scenic views of Scotland. We enjoyed the towns and B&B my friend and I stayed at.

Yeah I booked a year in advance. Had to Cancel because of Covid. They honored the reason and let me come 6 months later no extra charge. Great company. . Get Tciket as far in advance as you can because the vans are small and sells out fast.

On this tour are there a lot of stairs and steep climbs? I had back surgery in late January and want to enjoy the trip and not slow others down.

there is a lot of getting on and off the bus, so those stairs can add up. You can opt not to go explore the castle, which has many stairs. Also, depending on where you stay on Skye, the hotels have stairs. Overall, not many places with stairs.

How strict are the luggage limits? Can you carry a little in excess of the limits listed in the ad?

Hi. I am going to be traveling with my 20 yr old son. Should we book the B&B or the hotel room. He’s fine sharing the bed with his old Mumma :)

I travelled with my parents, aunt & her husband. Each couple had their own room in separate B&Bs and I was in a totally separate B&B. Sooooo, who knows if it would be arranged that way.

Approximately what time does the bus arrive back in Edinburgh?

1. Can you share more information about the B&B that this tour is staying at? i.e. its name
2. How strict are you on the weight of luggage per person, because I'm currently traveling London and am afraid that my luggage may exceed your required weight but have no choice but to carry it on my trip to Scotland.
