This tour of Belfast with a black taxi driver who lived through the civil rights clash of The Troubles allows you to learn loads more about the city's complicated history than you would traveling on your own. Sit back in rapt attention to your driver's narration, as you visit the famous Belfast murals on Falls Road and Shankill Road, painted by ex-prisoners on both sides of the conflict.
Hear four versions of the city's history: the British version, the Republican version, the Loyalist version, and the truth according to someone who lived through it. Listening to your guide's narrative helps you make sense of a tangled history that is complicated and difficult to understand for visitors. You'll also see photos and videos depicting the neighborhoods visited on the tour as they were at that time.
Hear historic tales of The Troubles civil rights clash directly from a black taxi driver who lived through them on this 2-hour private driving tour of Belfast. There's nothing like learning historical information directly from the source. This tour allows you to experience Belfast's Falls Road and Shankill Road sites in an authentic way.

This tour was excellent; well worth the money. We had a great guide who had incredible knowledge of the history here and did a great job of offering a balanced perspective on The Troubles. I highly recommend this tour.

Fascinating and disturbing
This is a very personal and profound view of Belfast and the "troubles" from someone who has lived through them. Balanced view of both sides and disturbing that this divide continues to this day.

What an interesting question for all sorts of reasons, and I don't have a straight yes or no. But the education system in NI is excellent, and I am sure some of the tour guides would have a working knowledge of French. I can see as this activity deals with complex and delicate issues surrounding not-long-healed divisions in the country, and one of your aims in taking the tour might be to get a clearer understanding of some of those things. There are several reputable companies offering the tour, so of course if you don't have any luck with your first choice, I really think it is worth pursuing with others. We would say it has balanced our ( formerly one-sided) views and added to our appreciation of how important it is to get the Ireland/Northern Ireland aspect of Brexit absolutely right. Both sides paid a big price for the Good Friday Agreement.
