Overview
Guarantee your entry to a site with more than 2,000 years of history by buying an admission ticket to Cardiff Castle in advance. Ideal for families and independent travelers, your entrance pass takes you on a self-guided tour of the castle’s historic chambers such as the Banqueting Hall and Library. Additional tours, including in-depth looks at the Clock Tower and House, are available at your own expense.
What to Expect
Make your own way to Cardiff Castle, located in the center of the city, between the hours of 9am and 5pm or 6pm, depending on the time of year.

On arrival, you’ll receive your audio guide and learn about the 2,000-year-old history of the fortress, which was transformed into a gilded fantasy by an eccentric architect in the 19th century.

Hear about how the castle was used as an air raid shelter during World War II, and feast your eyes on opulent rooms such the Banqueting Hall and the Library. From the clock tower, you’ll be able to absorb panoramic views of Cardiff.

Around two hours is recommended to enjoy all of the castle’s highlights, however your ticket grants you access to the fortress for as long as you like.

Pleasantly surprising experience

For relatively friendly prices, you can visit the castle walls with an exhibition about the Second World War inside them, the very picturesque ruins on the top of a small hill, and the main castle area, with or without a guide.

A good two hours.

We took the house tour, it is one of the high light of the visit. If in Cardiff and you have the time you must go and have a look around that very old site you need a dry day.
